ABSTRACT

Background: Disease registries help to provide quality healthcare, including chronic care. As part of ongoing bringing research in diabetes to global environments and systems 2 project in Delta State, Nigeria; a preliminary concern is completeness of clinical assessments and data collection that would enable patients’ follow-up. The aim of this piece of work is to investigate if data collected for local diabetes registry is complete and sufficient to provide better understanding of the disease epidemiology and treatment follow-up.Methods: This was a purposive medical records audit at public secondary level hospital that followed initial development of diabetes register at the Catholic Hospital, Abbi with 44 pieces of clinical and demographic information. At the public hospitals, 93 patients’ medical records were audited and the data were entered into the register and evaluated, descriptively.Results: The results show that about 52% of the 44 itemized information were collected, of which completeness of data/documentation was as low as 3% in some items. Blood pressure assessment was done on 70% of patients and 16% of patients had diabetes complications. Lifestyle regimen monitoring was not documented. Neither incidence nor morbidity and mortality rate could be definitively ascertained.Conclusions: Quality of clinical data documentation was poor. This study contributes a measure of community needs assessment for professional development training on diabetes.

ABSTRACT

Effective medical image enhancement method can not only highlight the interested target and region, but also suppress the background and noise, thus improving the quality of the image and reducing the noise while keeping the original geometric structure, which contributes to easier diagnosis in disease based on the image enhanced. This article carries out research on strengthening methods of subtle structure in medical image nowadays, including images sharpening enhancement, rough sets and fuzzy sets, multi-scale geometrical analysis and differential operator. Finally, some commonly used quantitative evaluation criteria of image detail enhancement are given, and further research directions of fine structure enhancement of medical images are discussed.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the control efficacy of details thinking management on the infusion microne in pharmacy intravenous admixture services (PIVAS). METHODS:One thousaud and two hundred infusion information dispensed by PIVAS and 150 inpatients were collected from our hospital during Jan.-Dec. 2014(before implementation group)and Jan.-Dec. 2015(after implementation group). The number of suspended particles and sedimentated bacteria in different levels of clean area in PIVAS,the number of particles in dispensed infusion and the occurrence of ADR caused by infusion particles were compared before and after the implementation of details thinking management as strengthening working system,improving the quality of staff,implementing management during whole process,etc. RESULTS:After the implementation of details thinking management,the number of sus-pended particles and sedimentated bacteria in different levels of clean area were decreased significantly compared to before imple-mentation,with statistical significance(P<0.05). The number of particles ≥10 μm and ≥25 μm among electrolyte,TCM injec-tion and digestive system agents infusion,the number of particles ≥10 μm among antibiotics infusion and the number of parti-cles ≥25 μm among vitamin infusion were all decreased significantly compared to before implementation;the number of rubber and glass particles among dispensed infusion were decreased significantly with statistical significance (P<0.05). The incidence of ADR as blood vessel blockage,edema,phlebitis and heat source reaction were all decreased compared to before implementation, with statistical significance(P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:The implementation of details thinking management can improve clean de-gree of different levels of clean area in PIVAS,and reduce the number of particles in various dispensed infusion so as to improve the quality of dispensed infusion to certain extent and guarantee the safety of drug use.

ABSTRACT

The tree Melia azedarach (Family: Meliaceae) is known locally as bakain or drek (Hindi), Persian lilac or China tree (English), and Fleurs lilas (French). In South America is commonly known as “paraiso” or paradise, and in the US as Indian lilac or white cedar. The whole plant or its specific parts (leaves, stem, and roots) are known to have medicinal properties and have a long history of use by indigenous and tribal people in India. Melia azedarach is used as an ayurvedic medicine in India and Unani medicine in Arab countries as an antioxidative, analgesic, anti-Inflammatory, insecticidal, rodenticidal, antidiarrhoeal, deobstruent, diuretic, antidiabetic, cathartic, emetic, antirheumatic and antihypertensive. It is highly nutritious having a calorific value at 5100 kcal/kg. Also, it is used to manufacture agricultural implements, furniture, plywood, boxes, poles, tool handles and fuel wood. It is widely planted as a shade tree in coffee and abaca (Musa textilis) plantations. It is a wellknown ornamental tree. The present review is therefore, an effort to give a detailed survey of the literature on its botanical details, phytochemical reports, pharmacological studies and its therapeutic importance.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of detail management in ward drug administration.Methods Details management for ward drug management were applied,including the standardization of the drug storage,storage method,to carry out new knowledge learning,to strengthen the drug management,to set up the standardized nursing medication process identification and optimization measures.Results details management,the incidenues of drug mixed and delayed delivery were lower;the time of checking drug was significantly shorter(P<0?001).Conclusions The details management are the effective measures to ensure drug quality and safety.

OBJECTIVE:To discuss the contents and ways of clinic pharmacy work.METHODS:The different focuses of clinical pharmacy work between China and Japan was compared based on the pertinent data obtained from conference,visiting and learning,and self practice.RESULTS & CONCLUSION:Clinic pharmacy work calls for details and pragmatic attitude,and the elementary clinical pharmacy work is much needed by patients,which thus should be carried out in hospitals at all levels.
