ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the effects and satisfaction of reference-induced blended teaching method in medical statistics teaching for undergraduate students in clinical medicine. MethodA total of 83 clinical medical undergraduate students from the class of 2018 at the Tongji University School of Medicine were enrolled into the study. The effect evaluation of blended teaching based on reference-induced self education (RISE) in the course of medical statistics was conducted. A self-designed questionnaire was used to assess student satisfaction. ResultsCompared with the traditional teaching method group, students’ distinguished achievement rate and pass rate in total score from RISE blended teaching group were 53.7% and 96.3%, respectively, and 83.3% students were satisfied with the overall effect. The RISE blended teaching method had higher satisfaction in stimulating learning interest (90.7% satisfaction rate, P=0.034) and cultivating scientific research ability (96.3% satisfaction rate, P=0.048). ConclusionThe RISE blended teaching method, which integrates literature guidance with online and offline approaches, organically combines statistical knowledge with clinical research problems. It yields positive results in medical statistics education, stimulating learning interest, and fostering innovative scientific research abilities.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the impact of brief intervention on HPV cognition of medical students in Xinjiang, and to provide a reference for the development of HPV related education in medical students. Methods Sudents from 20 classes of a medical university in Xinjiang were randomly selected. The first 10 classes were enrolled into group 1, which was a self-controlled study group evaluating the effect before and after intervention. The other 10 classes were included in group 2, in which students in each class were randomly divided into control group (filling in questionnaires before the intervention) and intervention group (filling in questionnaires after the intervention). Medical students were given a 10 minutes presentation on the intervention of HPV by trained personnel. Results (1) For HPV related knowledge, the difference in the awareness rates between the two groups before and after intervention was statistically significant (P < 0.001), and the awareness rate after intervention was higher than that before intervention. Before the intervention, the awareness rates of medical students in group 1 and group 2 were 18.67% and 17.71%, respectively, which increased to 66.75% and 52.85% after the intervention (P<0.01). (2) Regarding HPV-related attitudes and behavioral content, the differences in the response results of the two groups of students before and after the intervention were statistically significant (P<0.05), showing a more positive state after the intervention. Before the intervention, there were 86.19% and 88.02% of the students in group 1 and group 2 willing to publicize HPV-related knowledge to their relatives and friends, and the numbers increased to 94.12% and 94.82%, respectively, after the intervention (P < 0.05). Conclusion Both self-controlled and parallel-controlled studies demonstrated that brief interventions improved medical students' awareness of HPV.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate whether the functional MRI could be used to reflect the change of angiogenesis after drug treat-ment,and obtain the related semi quantitative and quantitative parameters by dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI).Methods The subcutaneous transplantation colorectal cancer were constructed in 20 nude mice, which were treated with Xiaoaifeimi. The transplanted tumor microvascular density,VEGF and PCNA were monitored. The therapeutic effect and MRI monitoring results were evaluated by combining DCE-MRI with the pharmacokinetic model. The semi quantitative and quantitative parameters were obtained for evaluating the effection of medicine.Half of nude mice were sacrificed to obtain the immunohistochem-ical staining.Correlation between pathological findings and parameters were analyzed. Results Compared to the control group,hu-man colon HT-29 cell proliferation rate was significantly decreased (44.87%)(P <0.05),and the apoptosis rate of HT-29 cells was increased 2.45 times (P <0.05)after Uyghur medicine treatment. The correlation between pathological examination and DCE-MRI parameters showed that Ktrans value and Kep were positively correlated with VEGF,MVD and PCNA (P <0.05).Conclusion A good relationship is showed between immunohistochemistry and DCE-MRI quantitative parameters in Uygur drug treating human colon cancer mice.

ABSTRACT

This paper described the drafting background, including the process and division of labour,of the general guidelines of clinical trials on new drugs of TCM (hereinafter called the guideline) published by China Food and Drug Administration (CDFA) in 2015.The paper mainly introduced the key content and outstanding characteristics of the guideline. The guideline indicated that purpose and target of the clinical trials on the new drugs of TCM should be in accordance with clinical practice and bring clinical benefits to the patients.Besides, the guideline stipulated that the risk/benefit assessment was requisite before marketing a new drug, emphasizing the importance of adequate exploratory clinical trials, scientificalness of the disignation of the endpoints of clinical efficacy, and the significance of the quality control of clinical trials. The specific requirements for the safety evaluation of the heart, liver and kidney was raised and a request for the preparation of the placebo formulated in the guideline. At the same time, the existing problems and the future development of the guideline are discussed in this paper.

ABSTRACT

Objective To establish an evaluation system to assess the effect of personnel training program for health professionals in the hospital,in order to achieve the goal that improve the overall competitiveness of the hospital. Methods Comparing and analyzing the differences in research project, research achievements, personnel capacity building before and after implementation of the training program.Paired T-test was used to exam the differences. Results There are statistically significant differences for proposed analyses (p ≤ 0.05).Conclusions The outcome of this study indicates that the personnel training program is extremely important to further development of the hospital.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Nowadays, the internal fixation materials for the clinical treatment of unstable femoral intertrochanteric fractures are broadly divided into two categories:intramedul ary fixation system and extramedul ary fixation system. However, the effects of the treatments usual y lack of macro evaluation. OBJECTIVE:To compare the effect of intramedul ary fixation system and extramedul ary internal fixation system in the treatment of unstable femoral intertrochanteric fractures. METHODS:217 patients with unstable femoral intertrochanteric fracture (Evans typing: Ⅲ type to Ⅴ type and R type) were treated by using intramedul ary fixation system and extramedul ary internal fixation system:18 cases were treated with dynamic condylar screw, 67 cases were treated with dynamic hip screw, 43 cases were treated with reconstruction nail, 72 cases were treated with proximal femoral anti-rotation blade nail, and 17 cases were treated with new generation of antegrade interlocking intramedul ary nail. The operative time, length of incision, blood loss, time in bed, fracture healing time, complications and Harris hip score were analyzed and compared. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:In the aspects of operative time, blood loss, time in bed, complications and Harris hip score, the intramedul ary fixation system was superior to extramedul ary internal fixation system. But there were significant differences in the aspects of length of incision and fracture healing time between two methods. The results showed that the treatment of unstable femoral intertrochanteric fractures by using intramedul ary fixation system was better than the extramedul ary internal fixation system, as the intramedul ary fixation system could effectively shorten the operative time and reduce blood loss. This stable and reliable fixation enables patients to take early postoperative functional exercise, and could significantly shorten the time in bed and reduce the incidence of complications and it is conducive to postoperative hip function recovery. Therefore, intramedul ary fixation system is an ideal method for the treatment of unstable femoral intertrochanteric fractures.
