ABSTRACT

Erosive adenomatosis of the nipple is a rare and benign tumor of the lactiferous ducts of the breast that affects primarily middle-aged women. Erythema, crusts, erosions, ulcerations or nodules, with or without serous or bloody discharge, are common clinical findings; pruritus, tenderness or pain may occur or it can be asymptomatic. Since the lesions are clinically indistinguishable from PagetÆs disease of the breast, a skin biopsy is mandatory for diagnosis. Adenocarcinoma of the breast is the main histologically differential diagnosis. Surgical resection is the treatment of choice. We present such a case in a 32-year-old woman with an 8-year history that begun as an erythematous, crusty lesion on her right nipple.

ABSTRACT

A case of erosive adenomatosis of the nipple is reported with a clinicopathologic correlation, an unusual disease that we, as dermatologists, should know since the differential diagnosis with the Paget's disease and the intraductal breast carcinoma can lead to unnecessary surgery.

ABSTRACT

Erosive adenomatosis of the nipple is a benign tumor originated from the lactiferous duct of the breast. A 41-year-old woman presented with one year history of painful and pruritic erosion of the right nipple. A biopsy specimen showed tubular structures which were lined by inner columnar cells showing secretory properties into the lumen and peripherally located cuboidal cells. The papillary projections of the luminal cells into the lumen were also seen. We, herein, report a rare case of erosive adenomatosis of the nipple.

ABSTRACT

We present a case of erosive adenomatosis of the nipple in a 22-year-old woman. The clinical features of erosive adenomatosis of the nipple are similar to Paget's disease in that it has erythematous erosions with oozing and fissured crusts on one nipple. However, histologic findings are characteristic, consisting of dilated tubular structures that are lined by a peripheral layer of cuboidal cells and a luminal layer of columnar cells showing secretary properties into the lumen. The clinical course is benign, so simple mastectomy is enough for treatment.

ABSTRACT

The patient was a 35 year old woman complaining of non tender erythematous nodule on the left nipple for 2 years. Histopathologic findings showed focal acanthosis and extension of epithelium into some of the superficial ductal structures. In the dermis, the tubules were lined by a peripheral layer of cuboidal cells and a inner layer of columnar cells. The papillary projections of the luminal cells into the lumen also were shown. In the upper dermis, we could find the keratin cysta. She was treated with a simple excision of the nipple and subareolar tissue.

ABSTRACT

We experienced a case of erosive adenomatosis of the nipple (EAN) in a 20-year-old lady. She have had an eczematous, erosive and crusted nipple, on the right si.de, with a serosanguineous discharge for the past two years. The biopsy specimen of eczematous lesion on the affected nipple showed focal erosion and acanthosis in the epidermis. Florid intraductal epithelial proliferation and solid nests were scattered in the nipple stroma without showing any cellular pleomorphism. The lining epithelium maintained two layers of cells the inner colurnnar cells and the outer cuboidal cells. Chronic inflammatory infiltrates of relatively dense lymphohisiocytes were found in the surrounding stromal tissue, Paget cells or underlying malignancy were not seen, and a group of tumor netst was confined to the upper part of the subareolar tissue.
