ABSTRACT

Introducción: Los científicos han explorado las capacidades intelectuales de los animales, su importancia para la salud física y emocional de los humanos, su uso como sujetos en la investigación biomédica y psicológica, pero se ha prestado poca atención a las valoraciones que hacen las personas del común sobre estas prácticas sociales. El objetivo de esta investigación fue presentar los resultados sobre las valoraciones de prácticas de divertimiento, producción industrial, investigación biológica y psicológica, que involucran animales, a partir de las dimensiones: ética, legal, las capacidades intelectuales, los beneficios para la salud física y emocional de las personas y la preocupación por su bienestar. Método: Se construyó un instrumento online a partir una frase mapa compuesto por 28 ítems, que exploran la evaluación de 255 personas, hombres y mujeres sobre estas prácticas, bajo la condición de tener o no mascota. Las respuestas se analizaron mediante un análisis de escalamiento multidimensional. Resultados: Queda en evidencia la preocupación de las personas por las condiciones en que se usan los animales, en particular, de quienes tienen o han tenido mascota. Conclusiones: Los hallazgos se discuten a partir del soporte de las facetas incluidas en la frase mapa y la propuesta para nuevos estudios sobre prácticas sociales que involucre animales en la población general.


Introduction: Scientifics have explored the intellectual capacities of animals, their importance for the physical and emotional health of humans, its use as subjects for biomedical and psychological research. However, little attention has been involved to studying how lay people think about these types of social practices. The objective of this research was to present the results of the evaluations of social practices involving animals in entertainment, industrial production, biological and psychological research. The practices were evaluated on the following dimensions: ethics, legal, intellectual capacities, benefits for the physical and emotional health of people; and concern for their well-being. Method: An instrument based on a mapping sentence and composed of 28 items was responded online by 255 people, men and women with the condition of having a pet or not. Item responses were analyzed using multidimensional scaling analysis. Results: It is evident people's concern for the conditions in which the animals are used particularly in people that have or has have pets. Conclusions: The findings are discussed on the evidence that support the mapping sentence, and on the proposal for new studies on social practices involving lay people.

ABSTRACT

Resumen A través de un estudio correlacional, esta investigación explora la influencia de posibles beneficios sociales y sus variables asociadas en la adopción de Comportamientos Urbanos Responsables (CUR). Teniendo en cuenta la complejidad del problema y el número de variables a explorar, se empleó el modelo de Teoría de Facetas. Además, se diseñó un cuestionario derivado de una "frase mapa" que presenta en forma de viñetas situaciones urbanas hipotéticas que exploran las variables en estudio. Participaron 177 individuos que estimaron la probabilidad de que un individuo involucrado en una viñeta adopte o no un CUR, a partir de variables como la distancia temporal y la magnitud del beneficio, la saliencia del anuncio de este beneficio, y la aprobación social y el reproche. Un análisis de distancias mínimas (SSA) mostró que los participantes reconocen estas variables a la hora de optar por un CUR. La distancia temporal para obtener el beneficio y la magnitud grande del beneficio resultaron estar altamente correlacionadas con la mayor estimación sobre la probabilidad de que un individuo elija un CUR. Se sugiere formular estrategias educativas y políticas públicas que conduzcan al desarrollo de la cooperación, la responsabilidad y la autorregulación, con el fin de contribuir a mejorar la calidad de vida urbana y la convivencia en el medio urbano.


Abstract Through a correlational study, this research explores the influence of possible social benefits and associated variables on the adoption of Responsible Urban Behaviors (RUB). Considering the complexity of the problem and the number of variables to be explored, the Facet Theory model was used. Also, a questionnaire was created, which presented hypothetical urban situations in the form of vignettes that explored the variables under study. A total of 177 individuals participated and estimated the likelihood of an individual involved in a vignette adopting or not an RUB, based on variables such as the time and magnitude of the benefit, salience of the advertisement of such benefit, and social approval and criticism. The smallest space analysis showed that participants recognize these variables when it comes to opting for an RUB. The time to obtain the benefit and the magnitude of the benefit turned out to be highly correlated with the highest estimate of the likelihood of an individual choosing an RUB. This research suggests formulating educational strategies and public policies that lead to the development of cooperation, responsibility, and self-regulation, to help improve the quality of urban life and coexistence in the urban environment.

ABSTRACT

Resumen A pesar de varias décadas de estudios sobre las actitudes hacia el medio ambiente y las variables personales y sociales asociadas a ellas, la educación ambiental no ha logrado generar cambios significativos en la adopción de comportamientos ambientales. La educación en reglas verbales se propone como una alternativa para lograr los cambios comportamentales requeridos, por considerar que sugiere soluciones pragmáticas para reducir la distancia entre el decir-hacer y orientar la investigación futura sobre el comportamiento proambiental. . Un total de 469 participantes de diferentes grupos de edad tomó parte de este estudio: 376 informaron de las frecuencias del seguimiento de reglas proambientales a través de un cuestionario y 93 clasificaron diferentes tipos de comportamientos proambientales en un procedimiento de selección libre, y también en relación con las consecuencias y esfuerzo asociados a estos comportamientos. Los resultados permiten observar los efectos que ha tenido la educación ambiental en la conceptualización del comportamiento proambiental, pero con carencias en el establecimiento de la conexión de estos comportamientos con consecuencias sociales y naturales. Se discuten las implicaciones para la educación ambiental.


Abstract Despite several decades of studies on attitudes to the environment and the personal and social variables associated to them, environmental education has largely failed to make substantial gains in the adoption of pro-environmental behaviors. Education on rule-governed behavior is proposed as an alternative for reducing the distance between saying and doing behavioral change that suggests pragmatic solutions and promising avenues for future investigation on pro-environmental behavior. A total of 469 participants from different age groups took part of this study. 376 reported the frequencies of following pro-environmental rules through a questionnaire, and 93 categorized different kinds of pro-environmental behaviors in a free sorting procedure and also in relation to consequences and effort associated to these behaviors. Even though results evidence the effects of environmental education in recognizing environmental relevant behaviors they lack in establishing the connection of these behaviors with social and natural consequences. Implications for environmental education are discussed.

ABSTRACT

A pesquisa objetivou delinear as interrelações entre autoconsciência, afeto depressivo e religiosidade em seminaristas católicos, tomando como hipótese que o período de formação presbiteral reserva potencial impacto subjetivo em diversas esferas da vida psíquica, tanto cognitiva quanto afetiva, dos sujeitos, aproximando-os de riscos psicopatológicos. Participaram do estudo 50 seminaristas, os quais responderam a Questionário Sociodemográfico e instrumentos psicométricos: Escala de Autoconsciência Situacional, Escala de Rastreamento Populacional para Depressão (CES-D) e Escala de Religiosidade Global. Os dados foram analisados através de Análise da Estrutura de Similaridade, procedimentos da Psicometria e coeficiente de correlação de Pearson, evidenciando que o afeto negativo se interrelaciona com autorreflexão e ruminação e, também, que há uma tendência de decaimento da religiosidade ao longo da formação presbiteral ­ embora cursando com aproximação às formas reflexivas de autofoco no final do período formativo ­, o que indica a necessidade de ajustes das agências formativas na preparação para o sacerdócio


The present study aimed to delineate the interrelationships between self-awareness, depressive affect and religiosity in Catholic seminarians, on the assumption that the period of priestly formation reserves potential subjective impact on various spheres of the mental life, both cognitive and affective, of the subjects, approaching them of psychopathological risks. Fifty Catholic seminarians participated in the study and responded to a Sociodemographic Questionnaire and psychometric instruments: Situational Self-focus Scale, Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and Global Religiosity Scale. Data were analyzed using Similarity Structure Analysis, psychometric procedures and Pearson correlation coefficient, showing that negative affect interrelates with self-reflection and rumination, as well as a trend of decline of religiosity along of priestly formation, although approaching to self-reflection occurs at the end of the formative period, indicating the need for training agencies to adjust the preparation for priesthood

ABSTRACT

Sobre la base de los planteamientos básicos del aprendizaje situado, este artículo presenta los resultados de un estudio que explora los escenarios donde los escolares de secundaria buscan información o adquieren ciertos conocimientos específicos. Metodológicamente, el estudio aplicó el enfoque de Teoría de Facetas para identificar las variables involucradas en las conexiones posibles entre escenarios y contenidos de aprendizaje. 298 estudiantes de secundaria (135 hombres y 163 mujeres) respondieron un cuestionario sobre la frecuencia de búsqueda de cierto tipo de contenidos en ciertos escenarios. Los resultados confirmaron la faceta construida para los escenarios y reconfiguraron la faceta de contenidos en una polaridad. A partir de estos resultados, se elaboraron conclusiones respecto al alcance de los planteamientos del aprendizaje situado y se formularon interrogantes para futuros estudios que exploren el papel que juegan los nuevos escenarios de aprendizaje en la formación de los estudiantes.


Under the basic principles of situated learning, this paper presents the results of a study that explores about the scenarios where information is looked up or certain specific knowledge is acquired by high school students. Methodologically, the study applied Facet Theory to identify the variables involved in the possible connections between scenarios and learning contents. A total of 298 high school students (135 males and 163 females) answered a questionnaire about the frequency with which certain contents are looked up in certain scenarios, such as: the school, the city, home and the web. The results confirm the scenarios' facet and restructure the contents' facet in terms of a polarity. Some conclusions about the extension of situated learning principles were made and questions for future studies that explore the role of new learning scenarios in students' education were asked.

ABSTRACT

O estudo investigou a estrutura semântica da imagem do executivo bem sucedido e a questão da posição da corporeidade nessa imagem. Um questionário com questões abertas e fechadas foi aplicado a universitários em Administração de Empresas em três momentos da formação, tendo-se analisado, para o presente estudo, a pergunta "Quais as características que um executivo precisa possuir para garantir seu sucesso profissional?". Os resultados foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo e a técnicas quantitativas não-paramétricas e multidimensionais (Análise de Estrutura de Similaridade, Técnica das Variáveis Externas como Pontos) e interpretados por aportes do Interacionismo Simbólico, Construcionismo Social e Teoria das Facetas. A estrutura polar formada por seis facetas (Agência, Vínculo, Cognição, Criatividade, Individualismo e Competências) e a localização na projeção da variável externa dos três "momentos de formação" sugerem um processo diferenciado de individualização da imagem do Executivo ao longo do curso universitário, com um incremento de significação de aspectos ligados a sua pessoalidade e corporeidade, além de apagamento de referências éticas e vinculares.


The study investigated the semantic structure of the Image of the Well Succeeded Executive and the question of the position of the Corporeality in this one. A questionnaire with open and closed questions was applied to undergraduate students in Business Administration at three moments of the formation, when it analyzed for the present study the question "Which are the characteristics that an executive needs to have to guarantee his professional success?". The results were analyzed through content analysis and to nonparametric and multidimensional quantitative techniques (Structure of Similarity Analysis and External Variables as Points in SSA) and interpreted for contributions of the Symbolic Interactionism, Social Construcionism and Facet Theory. The polar structure formed by six facets (Agency, Bond, Cognition, Creativity, Individualism and Competences) and the location in the projection of the extern variable of three "moments of formation" suggest a differentiated process of individualization of the image of the Executive along the university course, with a growth of signification of connected aspects his personality and corporeality, besides extinguishment of ethical and bond references.

ABSTRACT

Comparamos duas abordagens teórico-metodológicas distintas e investigamos a concepção que mães apresentam acerca do processo de desenvolvimento da comunicação mãe-bebê. Lyra e colaboradores propõem o modelo EEA, que integra uma seqüência de três padrões de organização do desenvolvimento da comunicação, denominados estabelecimento, extensão e abreviação (EEA). Esse modelo está baseado na observação longitudinal e na análise microgenética de estudos de caso a partir da perspectiva dos sistemas dinâmicos. Utilizando o procedimento de classificação múltipla, investigamos como esses três períodos do desenvolvimento da comunicação (EEA) são conceituados pelas mães. Foram pesquisadas 48 mães pertencentes a dois níveis sócio-econômicos. Os resultados encontrados fortalecem o modelo EEA, confirmando: a distinção entre as trocas face-a-face e aquelas mediadas pelo objeto (MOB); a diferenciação dos três períodos do desenvolvimento da comunicação (EEA) em ambas as trocas; e a distribuição ordenada (axial) desses três períodos, exceto, nesse último caso, para as trocas MOB, quando analisadas separadamente.


Two theoretical-methodological distinct perspectives are compared in order to study mother's conceptualization of the process of mother-infant development of communication. Based on dynamic systems perspective and relying on longitudinal microanalysis of case studies observations, Lyra and collaborators propose the EEA model for studying this process of development. This model integrates a sequence of three periods of development of this process, conceived as developmental patterns of organization: establishment, extension and abbreviation (EEA). Using a 'multiple sorting procedure', we investigated mothers' conceptualization of these three periods of development. We examined 48 mothers, from two socioeconomic levels. The results support the EEA model confirming: the distinction between face-to-face and the exchanges mediated by the object (MOB); the differentiation among the three periods of communication development (EEA) in both type of exchanges; and, an order distribution (axial) of these three periods, except for the specific analysis of the MOB type of exchanges.

ABSTRACT

O estudo investigou o eixo imagético da representação da morte e suas lógicas constitutivas em equipes multiprofissionais de saúde. Um questionário com questões abertas e fechadas sobre a morte e o morrer cobrindo aspectos simbólico-discursivos e icônicos foi distribuído a 80 profissionais (médicos, psicólogos e enfermeiros), sendo 54 de sexo feminino e 26 de sexo masculino. Os dados foram analisados por técnicas de análise de conteúdo e submetidos depois à Análise de Estrutura de Similaridade e do método de "variáveis externas enquanto pontos", sendo os resultados comparados com uma Simbólica da Morte levantada em estudos anteriores por Nascimento (2001b) e Nascimento e Roazzi (2007). Encontrou-se indícios consistentes de dificuldades na figuração da morte e de falha na produção de consenso, além de uma organização lógica dos elementos imagéticos que apontam para um estado de polifasia cognitiva na representação deste objeto.


The present study investigated the image structure of the social representation of death in healthcare professionals. A questionnaire with both open and closed-end questions was used to assess the symbolic and iconic components of the representation of death in a group of 49 physicians, 13 psychologists, and 18 nurses (54 female and 26 male). The data produced was analyzed through a non-metric multidimensional procedure - the SSA - and an "external variables as points" method. Finally, it was compared with the symbolism of death explored in previous studies (Nascimento, 2001b; Nascimento & Roazzi, 2007) and interpreted in the light of the theory of social representations and facet theory. Consistent indications of difficulties in the represen-tation of death and failures in the production of consensus were found, as well as a logical organization of imagistic elements which point out for a state of cognitive polyphasia in the representation of this object.
