ABSTRACT

In order to accurately understand the location of Shenshu (BL 23) and to improve the efficacy of acupuncture, a discussion is performed in this paper from aspects of acupoint function, anatomical structure, experiment research, clinical application, etc., hoping to provide benefit for future animal experiments and clinical selection of acupoint. The characteristics of rat spine is different from that of human, and the reliability and authenticity of acupoint location would be compromised if the anatomical characteristics of human was inflexibly applied on animals. "Shenshu" (BL 23) belongs to the bladder meridian of foot, and is located 1.5lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra. It is close to kidney, therefore deep insertion or repeated lifting and thrusting of needle would damage kidney and causes acupuncture accident. Therefore, to locate "Shenshu" (BL 23) in rat, the 6th lumbar vertebra is located firstly based on tuber coxae of rat, and then 11th thoracic vertebra is located by upward 4 vertebral bodies or locate 9th to 11th thoracic vertebra which are tight, and finally 2nd lumbar vertebra is located by downward 4 vertebral bodies, and "Shenshu" (BL 23) is 5 mm lateral to it. During clinical treatment, the technique should be gentle; oblique and outward insertion of needle is not allowed; the maximum depth of needle insertion is 1.6(approximately 4.30 cm); the vertical or oblique insertion with needle 45° towards spine is appropriate; the depth of 0.8 to 1.2(2.00 to 3.10 cm) is suitable. In cases of too thin or fat patients, the depth of needle insertion should be adjusted for safety.

ABSTRACT

Bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs) is a kind of adult stem cells which exists widely in human mesenchymal tissues and have active abilities of self-replication and multi-differentiation. When intervened individually or jointly by certain inducing agents and by the kind of genes, it can differentiate into specific lineage of cells in vitro and the capacity of multilineage differentiation and proliferation does not change. At the same time, with the unique immunological characteristics,it is an ideal seed cell for tissue engineering. In recent years, a lot of studies have proved that BMSCs can not only be induced and differentiate into nerve cells under certain conditions but have a certain structure and function of the nerve cells, which provide a new way in the treatment of nerve system diseases. This paper gives a review of studies on induced differentiation of BMSCs into nerve cells and the functions.

ABSTRACT

The ‘removing phlegm drugs' discussed in this article referred to the single drug recorded in the material medica literatures which had the function of"removing phlegm, resolving phlegm, clearing away phlegm, purging phlegm, sweeping away phlegm, eliminating phlegm, opening phlegm, plundering phlegm, clearing-up phlegm, draining offphlegm, lowering phlegm, purging phlegm, dispersing phlegm. The understanding and application ofthe removing phlegm drugs in TCM had long history.Lots ofrelated contents were recorded in the material medica literatures and ancient medical books.Systematical summary and theoretical research were needed. The author classified the common removing phlegm drugs into clearing the heat phlegm drugs, warm removing the cold phlegm drugs, drying dampness to resolve phlegm drugs, moisturizing dryness to resolve phlegm drugs, stopping wind to resolve phlegm drugs, regulating Qi to resolve drugs, relieving food retention to resolving phlegm drugs, resolving phlegm and relieving depression drugs, resolving phlegm and opening orifice drugs. The summary and discussion ofthe drugs would provide reference to the removing phlegm drugs application ofthe clinical doctors on the prevention and treatment ofthe phlegm diseases.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Despite the increasing number of websites about health information, there have been few studies on the issues of enhancing the service quality of health information websites. The purpose of this study is twofold. The first objective is to identify what customers request from health information websites and the key attributes of service operations. The second objective is to determine a strategy to improve the service quality of health information websites by applying the House of Quality(HoQ) framework. METHODS: Service attributes and functional characteristics were gathered through an online survey: in particular, 250 questionnaires were collected through an online survey at a large internet community. Based on the survey, conducted are various statistical methods including principal component factor, logistic regression, correlation, and multiple regression analyses. RESULTS: First of all, 9 key service attributes and 5 key functional characteristics to health information websites are derived from principal component factor analysis. And the logistic regression analysis determines the relative importance of service attributes. To complete the relation matrix at the center of the HoQ model, it is necessary to measure the interdependency, if any, between all service attributes and functional characteristics. All the relationships are exhibited as standardized estimates. The completed HoQ results show that the search function represents the highest importance to customers. CONCLUSION: The result of this study confirms the proposition that it is critical for website managers to provide health information service that best meet customers' needs. The HoQ framework employed in this study provides an efficient way of improving healthcare websites. Moreover, the insights from the study will serve as a good stepping stone towards a marketing strategy for the website providers under a fierce competition.

ABSTRACT

Four samples were chosen from the range-finders of CET-4 compositions(1987~2003)by equidistant sampling. We analyzed the functional characteristics of the range-finders of CET-4 high-mark compositions from the following aspects: transitivity, modality, thematic structure and cohesion.Inspirations to the teaching of College English writing are suggested.
