ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the application of analogical thinking combined with situational teaching method to create a happy learning situation in ophthalmic nursing practice teaching. Methods:A total of 90 nursing students who had practice in Department of Ophthalmology, Xijing Hospital, Air Force Medical University, from October 2020 to January 2022 were selected as the research objects. According to different teaching methods, they were divided into control group and observation group. The control group ( n=45) adopted conventional teaching, while the observation group ( n=45) adopted analogical thinking combined with situational teaching method. The two groups of nursing students were evaluated by comprehensive examination results, teaching effect questionnaire and students' overall satisfaction with their teachers. SPSS 22.0 was used for t-test and Chi-square test. Results:The test scores of theoretical knowledge [(85.39±1.57) vs. (84.41±1.34)] and nursing skills [(87.52±0.04) vs. (82.64±0.05)] of observation group were both higher than those of control group. In the observation group, the students' awareness of medication safety, professional interest and independent learning, cooperation and organization ability, independent thinking and independent learning ability, the purpose of multi-disciplinary knowledge integration, information and knowledge range improvement, clinical thinking communication ability enhancement, flexible application of theoretical knowledge, practical operation ability enhancement, and the cultivation of innovation consciousness were all improved. And all the scores were better than those of the control group. The satisfaction of teachers in the observation group on students' learning attitude, language expression, calling communication ability and independent problem-solving ability was higher than that in the control group ( P < 0.05). Conclusion:The combination of analogical thinking and the situational teaching method to create a happy learning situation can improve the average scores of nursing students and nursing skills, and significantly improve the satisfaction of students to the teachers.

ABSTRACT

In order to assess the well-being of a country and to make comparative analysis across countries, Gross National Income (GNI) per capita is the most commonly and frequently used indicator of well-being. Apart from that, this paper discusses another well-being marker: Happy Planet Index (HPI) which is relatively new in its kind with a view of incorporating higher degree of subjectivity. For the purpose of establishing correspondence (if any) between these well-being indicators, a large number of countries are considered and grouped accordingly

ABSTRACT

The pursuit of high levels of performance and well-being at work is a shared goal in societies nowadays. The happy-productive worker thesis (HPWT) proposes a positive relationship, where "happy" workers will perform better than "unhappy" workers. However, other relationships found in the literature have encouraged a revision of this thesis. This systematic review aims to understand better how the relationship between performance and well-being has been analyzed in Brazil during the last 20 years. Results obtained with the review of 26 studies, revealed that most of them reported a synergic or positive and unidirectional relationship consistent with the HPWT. However, we also found support for null and antagonist relationships and differences in the types of operationalizations studied. We discuss that this area of study should adopt a broader perspective to understand the complexity of the relationships between both constructs, and we propose future research directions.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the difference of emotion recognition ability between impulsive violent criminals and the controls.Methods:Fifty-nine impulsive violent criminals were selected from 90 violent criminals in a prison. The control group consisted of 35 service workers and security guards recruited from a university. The 2 group (impulsive violent criminals group, control group) ×4 emotion (happiness, anger, sadness, fear) hybrid design was used in this study. The emotion recognition score, errors number and changed response number for each of the four emotions, including happiness, anger, sadness and fear, were obtained through an emotional expression multimorph task to investigate the difference of emotion recognition ability between the two groups. Results:Four participants with error rate more than 30% were excluded. The effective data involved 58 impulsive violent criminals and 32 control subjects. The impulsive violent criminals had significant higher recognition scores of happiness [ (18.6±3.4) vs. (16.4±4.0), P<0.01] and anger [ (16.2±2.4) vs. (14.1±3.2), P<0.01] than the control group. In impulsive violent criminals, the recognition scores of facial expressions ranked from high to low were that of happiness, anger, fear and sadness (Ps<0.05).In the control group, the recognition scores of facial expressions ranked from high to low were that of happiness, anger, fear/sadness (Ps<0.05), but there was no significant difference between recognition scores of fear and sadness (P>0.05).Conclusion:It suggests that the impulsive violent criminals might have a higher sensitivity to happy and angry facial expressions.

Meth-ods From April, 2015 to April, 2016, 80 patients with vascular cognitive impairment were divided randomly into happy family cognitive training group (n=40) and control group (n=40). Both groups accepted routine medicine and rehabilitation exercise, while the happy family cognitive training group received happy family cognitive training additionally. They were assessed with Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) before and after 12 weeks of treatment. Results The scores of MoCA and ADL improved more in the family cognitive training group than in the control group after treatment (t>5.454, P<0.001). Conclusion Happy family cogni-tive training is effective on vascular cognitive impairment, for cognitive function and activities of daily living.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: There is high interest in a new approach to improve children's lifestyle habits in order to prevent childhood obesity. A smartphone application (app) is a new technology platform that can be used to prevent childhood obesity. METHODS: The key messages for healthy eating habits and physical activities were selected by experts in nutrition, physical activity, and psychology and were adjusted for use in elementary school students. Gamification techniques were used to increase app user engagement. A total of 249 students in grades 4-6 were asked to rate their satisfaction for the app after 4 weeks of use. RESULTS: The main menu of "HAPPY ME" was composed of user profile, "EVERYDAY QUEST," exercise diary, diet diary, settings, and notifications. The app users were asked to complete 6-9 daily missions regarding healthy eating habits and physical activities through "EVERYDAY QUEST." The mean satisfaction scores for each variable were distributed from 3.6 to 4.0 points, and most of the students responded that they would continue to use the app (4.0 points). CONCLUSION: We developed a smartphone app (HAPPY ME) for 4th-6th grade elementary students aimed to provide educational information about healthy eating habits and physical activities in order to prevent childhood.
