ABSTRACT

Objective To study the correlations among lumbosacral anatomical structure variations and herniation of intervertebral disc. Methods Through analyzing lumbar CT images of 684 patients with lumbocrural pain between 15 to 24 years old, the anatomical variations of spondylolysis, scoliosis deformity, lumbosacral transitional vertebra, subfissure, lumbosacral angle and others (including vertebral muscles beside, spines, transverse process on both sides) were observed, and the correlations among these anatomical variations and herniation of intervertebral disc were analyzed. Results The correlations among these above mentioned anatomical variations and herniation of intervertebral disc were 93.6%,92.3%,87.5%,81.3%,72.1%,53.3% respectively. In 91.4% of patients, the lumbosacral anatomical structure variations suffered herniation of intervertebral disc at the same time. But only 36.2% of patients suffered herniation of intervertebral disc without lumbosacral anatomical structure variations. Conclusion Lumbosacral anatomical structure variation is the main reason of herniation of intervertebral disc on teenagers.CT examination, which can reflect the correlation between them.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo explore the effect of peridural injection on acute herniation of intervertebral disc.Methods60 cases of acute herniation of intervertebral disc were divided into two groups, including 30 cases of the peridural injection treatment group and 30 cases of the traditional treatment group. The clinical symptoms and signs were assessed before and after treatment.ResultsThe peridural injection restrained pain rapidly and shorten the period of treatment. The eminent rate was 83.4%. The index and rate in improvement and efficiency of peridural injection group were higher than that of traditional group. The course of treatment in hospital in peridural injection group was shorter than that in traditional group.ConclusionsThe peridural injection has preferable clinical curative effect in herniation of intervertebral disc.

ABSTRACT

The herniation of intervertebral disc is possibly diagnosed through the myelography, electromyography, discography or computerized tomography. Among them, the myelography is regarded as the popularized method that helps accurate analysis on the location and pattern of the lesion. The authors have studied 363 cases of herniated intervertebral disc with respect to the diagnostic accuracy of myelographic examination from January, 1982 to December, 1985 at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Radiology, National Police Hospital. The results were as follows; 1. The most common age group was 21 to 30 years old and ratio of male and female was 9.7: l. 2. The most common site of the lesion was between L4 and L5 vertebra in myelography. 3. Of the 363 cases which underwent the myelography, 305(84.0%) represented positive findings. 4. Myelographic accuracy was coincided with the clinical diagnosis regarding the location of herniation of intervertebebral disc in 262 cases(72.1%).
