ABSTRACT

@#Abstract: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a global public health problem due to its highly contagious nature. This article aims to discuss the current situation of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19, and to provide a basis for traditional Chinese medicine research and scientific and standardized treatment of COVID-19.In this article, the etiology, pathogenesis, treatment plan and research progress were summarized, analyzed and concluded by retrieving and reviewing the literature and clinical reports related to the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 with traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine has obvious effects in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19, improvement of clinical symptoms, and control of disease progression, which had the unique advantages of mild curative efficacy and safety. It has important practical significance in relieving patients' early symptoms and reducing the incidence of progression from mild to severe, and had great potential for development in the treatment of COVID-19. The traditional Chinese medicine intervention and the formulation of diagnosis and treatment plans for the COVID-19 need to be continuously optimized and improved. Scientific and rational application of traditional Chinese medicine to prevent and treat COVID-19, optimization diagnosis and treatment programs, and in-depth exploration of pharmacological mechanisms, especially the provide reference for early intervention of new coronavirus pneumonia by traditional Chinese medicine, the control of disease progression in the middle stage, and improve prognosis in the late stage with Western medicine.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the advantages and disadvantages the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine in community health service centers through cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analysis. Methods Take community common diseases as an example, Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA), Cervical Spondylosis (CS) and Lumbar Disc Herniation (LDH) were used. A total of 200 cases were selected for each disease, and 100 cases in each one group. In the treatment group, the rehabilitation mode was used.In the control group, comprehensive treatment of traditional Chinese medicine was adopted. We analyzed the cost-effectiveness and cost-utility, with VAS as the effect indicator and QALYs as the utility indicator. Results The VAS values of the knee osteoarthritis, cervical spondylosis and lumbar disc herniation in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group after 14 days, 30 days and 6 months (P<0.05) . The QALYs values of them in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group after 14 days, 30 days and 6 months (P<0.05) . The treatment group has a higher increase cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) . Each get a unit effect can pay 222.56, 297.13 and 1178.59 Yuan less . The treatment group has a higher increase cost-utility ratio (ICUR) . Each get a unit effect can pay 741.86, 3178.60 and 2862.29 Yuan less . Conclusion Community application in rehabilitation mode of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine can improve the treatment effect, and can reduce the cost of treatment and the loss of QALYs.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of integration of traditional Chinese and western medicine (ITWM) or pure western medicine on the patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Methods Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on ITWM treatment of ITP were searched in PubMed, EMBASE, Wanfang database, CBMDisc, CNKI and VIP. Quality of the RCTs was evaluated strictly, and statistical analysis was performed with Cochrane Collaboration’s RevMan5.1.7 software. Results Twenty-two trials involving 1527 patients were included. The results of Meta-analysis showed that the ITWM treatment of ITP significantly improved the total effective rate [RR=1.23, 95%CI (1.17, 1.29), P<0.000 01] compared with that of pure western medicine treatment. Funnel plot showed that publication bias was small. Meanwhile, peripheral platelet count and the number of megakaryocyte which can generate platelet in bone marrow increased, obvious advantage was showed in long-term effect, and adverse reactions were reduced with ITWM treatment in ITP patients. Conclusion The existed limited evidences suggest that ITWM treatment of ITP can significantly improve clinical efficacy. The quantity and quality of research literature were limited, and well-designed randomized double-blind controlled trials with large sample and multi-centers are required for a more reliable conclusion.

ABSTRACT

Objective To summarize the published studies of diabetic cerebral infarction treated by integration of traditional and western medicine (ITWM) or pure western medicine and compare their clinical curative effects. Method The clinical study of ITWM for diabetic cerebral infarction were collected and seleted according to the standard. The effect of ITWM and only western medicine was compared, and Meta-analysis was made. Result 59 studies were included to analysis neurological deficit and the total efficiency. Meta-analysis revealed that the improvement of ITWM is better than pure western medicine treatment. Conclusion The existed limited evidences suggest that ITWM treatment of diabetic cerebral infarction can significantly improve neurological deficit and curative effect. More high-quality randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials are needed to confirm the efficacy and safety of ITWM treatment of diabetic cerebral infarction.
