ABSTRACT

“Dahongzuan” is Magnoliaceae plant, which is one of the “Shi ba zuan” of Yao medicines. The chemical compositions of Kadsura heteroclita are maily lignans, terpenoids, and sesquiterpenes. It has many pharmacological effects such as anti-oxidation, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer. This paper summarized the research progress of the chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of K. heteroclita, which aimed to provide a theoretical basis for the research and development of “Dahongzuan”.

ABSTRACT

AIM@#To study the dibenzocylooctadiene lignans from the stems of Kadsura heteroclita.@*METHOD@#Chromatographic separations of silica gel and semi-preparative HPLC were used. All of the structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, including 2D-NMR and HR-MS techniques.@*RESULTS@#Four dibenzocylooctadiene lignans were isolated from K. heteroclita. Their structures were identified as heteroclitin R (1), heteroclitin S (2), gonisin O (3), and schisanlignone A (4).@*CONCLUSION@#Heteroclitin R (1) and heteroclitin S (2) are new natural lignans.

ABSTRACT

Aim The pharmacodynamics and mechanism of Kadsura heteroclita on the Alzheimers disease (AD) model mice were studied. Methods The Kunming mice were treated with D-galactose and AlCl 3(90 d)to make the AD animal model. The therapy groups were treated with HS 2 (po, 40 d) respectively since d51. The Morris water-maze test, the expressions of PS1, BACE, as well as the pathological observation of the hippocampus and cerebral cortex were carried out to evaluate the effect of HS 2 on the AD model mice. Resluts By oral administration with HS 2, the capacity of learning and memory of the AD model mice was improved. HS 2 can downregulate the expression of PS1, BACE and decrease the amount of senile plaque in their brains. Conclusion HS 2 can meliorate AD model mice's learning and memory deficiency as well as decrease the mRNA content of PS1, BACE and senile plaque in their brains.
