ABSTRACT

Objective T o analyze the relationship am ong electrical conductivity (E C ), total volatile basic nitrogen (T V B-N ), w hich is an index of decom position rate for m eat production, and postm ortem inter-val (PM I). T o explore the feasibility of E C as an index of cadaveric skeletal m uscle decom position rate and lay the foundation for PM I estim ation. Methods H ealthy Sprague-D aw ley rats w ere sacrificed by cervical vertebrae dislocation and kept at 28℃. M uscle of rear lim bs w as rem oved at different PM I, ho-m ogenized in deionized w ater and then skeletal extraction liquid of m ass concentration 0.1 g/m L w as prepared. E C and T V B-N of extraction liquid w ere separately determ ined. T he correlation betw een E C (x1) and T V B-N (x2) w as analyzed, and their regression function w as established. T he relationship be-tw een PM I (y) and these tw o param eters w ere studied, and their regression functions w ere separately established. Results T he change trends of E C and T V B-N of skeletal extraction liquid at different PM I w ere alm ost the sam e, and there w as a linear positive correlation betw een them . T he regression equation w as x2=0.14 x1-164.91 (R2=0.982). E C and T V B-N of skeletal m uscle changed significantly w ith PM I, and the regression functions w ere y=19.38 x13-370.68 x12+2526.03 x1-717.06 (R2=0.994), and y=2.56 x23-48.39 x22+330.60 x2-255.04 (R2=0.997), respectively. Conclusion E C and T V B-N of rat postm ortem skeletal m uscle show sim ilar change trends, w hich can be used as an index for decom position rate of cadaveric skeletal m uscle and provide a m ethod for further study of late PM I estim ation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effects of phonosurgery combined with voice therapy in patients with vocal polyps accompanied with muscle tension dysphonia (MTD) .Methods The study retrospectively enrolled 117 patients with a diagnosis of vocal polyps accompanied with MTD .All the patients were divided into two groups ac‐cording to the different remedies:the surgery group (n=57) ,and the combination group (n=60) .The Xion acous‐tic analysis was carried out on the two groups before and after therapy .We compared the results in each group ,the results of post-therapy between two groups ,and that of post-therapy with the control group(n=50) .The acous‐tic parameters were jitter percent (jitter) ,shimmer percent (shimmer) ,dysphonia severity index (DSI) .Results The results obtained in the study showed that all the voice analysis parameters were significantly improved after therapy in both the surgery group and combination group(P0 .05) .Conclusion As for vocal polyps accompanied with M TD ,successful phonosurgical treatment and voice therapy can improve patients’ voice quality .

ABSTRACT

Objective T o investigate the relationship betw een the expression of secreted frizzled-related protein 5 (SFR P5) m RNA and the tim e interval after skeletal m uscle injury in rats by real-tim e PC R . Methods A total of ninety SD rats w ere random ly divided into the contusion groups at different tim es including 4 h, 8 h, 12 h, 16 h, 20 h, 24 h, 28 h, 32 h, 36 h, 40 h, 44 h, 48 h after contusion, incision groups at different tim es including 4h and 8h after incision and the control group. T he sam ples w ere taken from the contused zone at different tim e points. T he total RNA w as isolated from the sam ples and re-versely transcribed to analyze the expression levels of SFRP5 m RNA . Results C om pared to the control group, the expression of SFRP5 m RNA in contusion groups w ere dow n-regulated w ithin 48 h after con-tusion and reached the low est level at 20 h, and the expression of SFRP5 m RNA gradually increased from 20 h to 48 h after contusion. T he expression of SFRP5 m RNA in the incised groups w ere signifi-cantly low er than that of the contusion groups at 4 h after injury. A t the tim e of 8 h, the expression levels betw een the contusion and incision groups show ed no statistically significant difference. Conclusion It is suggested that SFRP5 m RNA analysis m ay show regular expression and can be a m arker for estim ation of skeletal m uscle injury age.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the application of isokinetic muscle testing in identification of the faked paralysis to provide scientific data for establishing a standard systemof muscle strength in forensic medicine identification. Methods Fifty-seven patients with bone fracture or nerve damage as damaged group and 128 normal subjects pretended paralysis as faked paralyzed group were included in this study. Isokinetic muscle testing was performed on bilateral knees of all subjects in the two groups. The peak torque (PT) and peak torque angle (PTA ) were compared between both sides in each group. The fea-tures of torque-time graph of two groups were classified. Results In the damaged group, the differences of PTbetween two sides of flexors and extensors were statistically significant (P0.05). In faked paralyzed group, the differences of PTand PTA between two sides of flexors and extensors were both statistically significant (P<0.05). The torque-time graph of damaged knee presented mostly as single lead peak, while torque-time graph of the faked paralyzed knee presented mostly as multiple peaks. Conclusion The feature of torque-time graph could be useful to identify the faked paralyzed extremities in forensic authentication.
