ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo discuss the family environment characteristics of senior high school students with psychological problems, and to provide references for realizing management of senior high school students' mental health. MethodsA total of 1 917 senior high school students in Foshan No. 2 Middle School were enrolled, and assessed using Middle School Student Mental Health Scale (MSSMHS-60) and a self-compiled family environment questionnaire. Then the family environment characteristics of senior high school students with psychological problems were analyzed. ResultsThe total score of MSSMHS-60 was (1.83±0.49) in 1 917 senior high school students, and was (2.40±0.36) in 602 (31.40%) students with psychological problems. The detection rate of psychological problems demonstrated significant difference among senior high school students with different status of companionship, household finance, parental rearing style and kinship (χ2=16.951, 38.142, 90.545, 59.448, P<0.05 or 0.01). Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that the presence of frequent parental quarrels was a risk factor for senior high school students' mental health (OR=3.120, P<0.01). ConclusionThe detection rate of psychological problems is high among senior high school students in Foshan City, and family disputes is a risk factor for psychological problems.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to ascertain the usefullness of four mental health measures in their application to Chinese elderly subjects. These measures which included CES—D, GHQ—30, LSI, and MST were adapted to assess general symptoms of depression and minor psychiatic disorder, life satisfaction, and mental state of the elderly people. Results of these findings indicated that split—half and test—retest reliabilities of these measures were highly satisfactory. With respect to validity, test performace of a group of psychiatric patients (N=31) and normal elderly subjects (N=30) were found to be significantly differencetiated. Furthermore, the pattern of scores obtained by the psychiatric patients also matched well with the clinical diagnosis made by a consultant. Normative data in an old—old sample (N=554) revealed mild to moderate correlations between measures, reflecting favourably on their convergent validity. Significant sex differences were found, which necessitated the establishment of separate norms for males and females subjects.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To develop Mental Health Scale for Child and Adolescent(MHS-C) and assess it's reliability and validity. Methods: MHS-C were administered to 9278 children and adolescent aged 6-18 years or their parents from 12 Provinces of China, 143 children with mental disorders. 87 children were re-tested with MHS-C at interval of 5 weeks, 30 children were administered MHS-C and Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist as criteria test, 56 children and their parents were administered MHS-C. The reliabilities and validities of the MHS-C were examined using Pearson's correlations and factor analysis. Results: The MHS-C had good reliabilities (re-test reliability 0.713, Crobach ? 0.847,spilit reliability 0.800, rater reliability 0.874); The scores of normal children were higher than that of children with mental disorders on the MHS-C(F=63.34-238.8,P

ABSTRACT

Objective:To do confirmatory factor analysis to prove structure validity of Mental Health Scale for Primary School Students.Method:Data was collected from 2030 primary school students and was analyzed by LISREL 8.0 program. Result:The subscales of Mental Health Scale for Primary School Students had good structure validity, the sample data fit for the hypothesized model. Except that for Interpersonal Relationship subscale, the indexes of other subscales (Learning subscale, self subscale and adjustment subscale) fit for the model with all coefficients over 0.9, these indexes were GFI?AGFI?NFI?NNFI?CFI?IFI. For the total scale, four latent variables had loaded to the observed items significantly, the whole scale had perfect fit between the observed data and hypothesized structure. Conclusion:Mental Health Scale for Primary School Students has good psychometric quality and can be used for Chinese primary school pupils.
