ABSTRACT

Data mining method based on the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) inheritance system(V2.5) was adopted to analyze professor Lin Yi's experience for metastasis breast cancer(MBC) by analysing the high frequency medicine, drug categories, drug properties, the key symptoms and key drugs of different metastasis regions and different syndromes, drug symptom analysis in the effective prescriptions for treating MBC by Lin from January 2013 to December 2017. A total of 89 MBC patients, 5 syndromes and 117 prescriptions were involved. The first 10 most frequently used were Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, Poria, Dioscoreae Rhizoma, Coicis Semen, Crataegi Fructus, Hordei Fructus Germinatus, Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum, Hedyotis Diffusa, Codonopsis Radix, Astragali Radix. The warm and placid property was higher, the most herbs had Gan taste, the first two channel tropisms were spleen and the stomach. Drug symptom analysis in 5 different metastasis regions and 6 different syndromes were also been done. The conclusion showed that professor Lin's experience as: recognizing the basis of diseases, differentiating the syndrome, combinating disease and syndrome, cautiously grasping pathogenesis, combinating tonification and purgation together, regulating balance, treating the symptoms and origin, regulating spleen and stomach, caring for the postnatal throughout, prefering ancient prescription, rational compatibility, using medicine gently.

ABSTRACT

To study sesquiterpenes with anti-metastasis breast cancer activity from Chloranthus henryi, ten sesquiterpenes ,zedoarofuran (1), chlorajapolide D (2), 4β, 8β-dihydroxy-5α(H)-eudesm-7(11)-en-8, 12-olide (3), curcolonol (4), lasianthuslactone A (5), chlomultin C (6), (1E,4Z)-8-hydroxy-6-oxogermacra-1(10), 4, 7(11) -trieno-12, 8-lactone (7), shizukanolide E (8) , shizukanolide F (9) , 9α-hydroxycurcolonol (10), and five bis-sesquiterpenes, shizukaol B (11), shizukaol C (12) , cycloshizukaol A (13) , sarcandrolide B (14) , henriol A(15), were isolated by using different kinds of column chromatography methods from the ethyl acetate part of Ch.henryi and their structures were identified based on spectroscopic methods. Compounds 2, 8, 9, and 10 were obtained from the genus Chloranthus for the first time. Compounds 2, 5, 8-10, 12,and 14 were obtained from this plant for the first time. Some isolated compounds were subjected to evaluate the anti-metastasis breast cancer activity by using pharmacological methods, and only compounds 4, 11, and 12 were potent active.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The axillary lymph node status is the most important prognostic factor in breast cancer. The axillary node dissection is done are usually performed in infiltrating breast cancer for the information of therapeutic decision and prediction of prognosis. But this procedure results in lymphedema of affected upper extremity nearly about 25%, increased axillary drainage, sensory abnormality and pain. Many researches are focussed to find the patients group who do not need axillary dissection according to the status of tumor size, patient age, hormonal receptor and histologic grade. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We evaluated the axillary lymph node status related with tumor size less then 2 cm in and the correlation of other prognostic factor. We reviewed 127 women with histologically diagnosed infiltrating ductal carcinoma of breast who were treated by one surgeon at YongDong Severance Hospital, Yonsei University College of medicine between 1991 and 1996. RESULTS: Five patients (3.9%) had T1a lesion (< 5 mm), 24 patients (18.9%) had T1b tumors (6-10 mm), and 98 cases (77.2%) had T1c lesion (11-20 mm). The average numbers of dissected axillary lymph nodes were 14.2 We found that small tumor size, good histologic grade, estrogen receptor positivity, old age (over 50 years) showed tendency of decreased axillary node metastasis but without statistical significance. CONCLUSIONS: There are possibility of finding subset with low risk of axillary lymph node metastasis in small size tumor with addition of good prognostic indicators such as good histologic grade, hormonal receptors and old age.
