ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the role of focus intervention mode in improving the self-efficacy and subjective well-being of newly-contracted nurses. Methods A total of 100 nurses selected as the survey subjects by means of convenient sampling method, were numbered consecutively and divided into observation group and control group by random digit number table. The observation group was intervened with conventional mental consultation and the observation group with the WeChat-based focus intervention mode, which included the use of past-oriented questions and answers for understanding their strength and sources, future-oriented presuppositions and miracle-oriented questions for their thinking of resolutions to future problems. The two groups were compared in terms of general self-efficacy and well-being by the general self-efficacy scale (GSES) and the overall well-being scale (GWB). Results Before intervention , the total scores on GSES and GWB of the observation groups were insignificantly higher than those of the control group (P > 0.05). After intervention, the scores of observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.01). Conclusion The We-Chat-based focus intervention mode can effectively improve the self-efficacy and subjective well-being of newly-contracted nurses.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effect of the flipped classroom model on the training of nursing theory and skills to newly-contracted nurses. Methods A total of 122 newly-contracted nurses in 2013 were selected as the control group, where the traditional training methods were adopted. The 303 newly-contracted nurses recruited into the hospital in 2014 were set as the experimental group, where the training was carried out by using the flipped classroom model for 1 year. After training, the differences between the two groups in the theoretical test and nursing skills assessment were compared. A satisfaction survey about the flipped classroom model was made in the experimental group. Results Both the scores on the nursing theory and skills in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group (all P<0.001).More than 88.9%of the newly-contracted nurses in the experimental group was for the training arrangement, classroom experience and application of the flipped class model. Conclusion The application of the flipped classroom model in the training of nursing for newly-contracted nurses can improve the learning effect of newly-contracted nurses and enhance their nursing theory and skills.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the self efficacy of newly-contracted nurses in a tumor hospital in Guangzhou and to find out the related factors. Methods By convenience, cluster sampling method, 333 newly-contracted nurses from a tumor hospital in Guangzhou were recruited in the study. The general self-efficacy scale (GSES) and a self-designed demographic questionnaire were used to look into their self-efficacy and explore the related factors. Results The average score of self efficacy was (2.67 ± 0.41). The level of self-efficacy was related to education and the type of hospital for internship. Nurse with bachalor degree and graduated from comprehensive hospital had higher self-efficacy. Conclusions The self efficacy of the newly contracted nurses is intermediate. The education level and the type of hospital for internship both influence the level of self efficacy. The special hospitals should strengthen the teaching and training of students and lay stress on developing their capacity to prepare them for the job.
