ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the mediating role of working memory (WM) in the cortisol-awakening response (CAR) and multiple object tracking (MOT) in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).Methods:92 children with ADHD (ADHD group) and 94 typically developing children (control group) were selected from January 2022 to October 2022. Salivary cortisol levels were detected and analyzed in all children at four time points after awakening. Children's WM and MOT performance were assessed by the 1-back and MOT paradigms, respectively. SPSS 26.0 software was used for t-test and Pearson correlation analysis of the data, and plug-in PROCESS model 4 of SPSS 26.0 was used for mediated effects analysis. Results:(1) ADHD group showed significantly lower CAR, 1-back accuracy and MOT performance((30.97±5.63), (81.33±10.64) %, (2.36±0.37)) than the control group((32.41±3.48), (91.19±7.12) %, (2.62±0.28))( t=-2.09, -7.22, -5.31, all P<0.05). (2) Pearson analysis showed that CAR was positively correlated with 1-back accuracy ( r=0.293, P<0.01) and MOT performance ( r=0.740, P<0.01). 1-back accuracy was positively correlated with MOT performance ( r=0.368, P<0.01). (3) WM partially mediated the effect of CAR on MOT in children with ADHD, accounting for 6.13% (0.003/0.049) of the total effect. Conclusion:Children with ADHD have deficits in MOT.WM plays a mediating role between CAR and MOT performance in children with ADHD.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo realize the automatic recognition of the slicing angles of Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (FTB) based on the improved YOLOv7-tiny algorithm. MethodFirstly, a diverse dataset of FTB images, totaling 16 000 pictures, with various angles was constructed. Furthermore, improvements were made to YOLOv7-tiny by replacing standard convolutions with ghost convolution (GhostConv), incorporating the coordinate attention (CA) mechanism as a preferred addition, substituting some activation functions with HardSwish function for decreasing the floating point operations. Additionally, a penalty term for angle recognition error was integrated into the loss function, and modifications were made to the non-maximum suppression (NMS) strategy to address cases where multiple detection results were associated with the same target. In order to verify the effectiveness of different improvement points on the optimization of the algorithm model, ablation experiments were carried out on all the improvement points, and the effectiveness of the improvement points was proved by comparing the prediction results before and after the addition of a certain improvement point on the basis of the original model or the model with the addition of an improvement point that has been verified to be effective, in order to evaluate the improvement of the indexes. ResultThe number of parameters required for the improved slicing angle recognition algorithm of FTB was about 55.4% of the original algorithm, and the amount of computation was about 59.4% of the original algorithm. The mAP@0.5[mean average precision at an intersection over union(IoU) of 0.5] increased by 12.2%, the mean absolute error(MAE) of the recognized angle was 5.02°, representing a reduction of 4.58° compared to the original algorithm. In the experimental environment of this paper, the average recognition time per image was as low as 8.7 ms, significantly faster than the average human reaction time. ConclusionThis study, by utilizing the improved YOLOv7-tiny algorithm, achieves effective slicing angle recognition of FTB with high accuracy and more lightweight, which provides a novel approach for stable and precise automated slicing of FTB, thereby providing valuable insights into the automation of processing other traditional Chinese medicines.

ABSTRACT

Reducing the consumption of attentional resources and improving human performance in dynamic visual sustained attention tasks is a key issue in sustained attention research. The multiple object tracking (MOT) task is a widely used paradigm for studying individual sustained attention. In a classic MOT paradigm, observers need to maintain their attention on specific targets among a set of distractors and track their movement. To further utilize attentional resources and improve tracking performance, researchers have proposed studying the additivity problem of grouping effects in attention tracking. Grouping effects during MOT is the phenomenon that moving items can be perceived into larger moving units based on featural cues of themselves or task requirements. This article reviewed previous studies about attention resources, classification, additivity, and neural mechanisms of grouping effects in MOT. Based on previous research, we concluded that grouping effects in MOT can be classified into three categories, i.e., spatiotemporal-based grouping, object-based grouping, and feature-based grouping, according to different grouping cues (spatiotemporal continuity, global perception and organization of objects, and surface featural similarity). Grouping based on multiple cues will produce greater effects compared with one cue, this is the additive effect. The study of additivity is important for understanding the cognitive mechanisms of different grouping effects, the attentional mechanisms, and resource allocation in individual dynamic visual tracking. This study summarized previous behavioral and neuroimaging research and systematically explored the non-additivity based on different surface features and the additivity based on surface features and specific spatiotemporal features. Exploring the mechanism of additivity effects provides us with new insight into understanding grouping effects. For future studies, researchers need to thoroughly investigate the neural mechanisms of different kinds of groupings. This can not only provide explanations for the additivity of groupings but also provide substantial evidence for the classification of groupings.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveThe scale of microalgae farming industry is huge. During farming, it is easy for microalgae to be affected by miscellaneous bacteria and other contaminants. Because of that, periodic test is necessary to ensure the growth of microalgae. Present microscopy imaging and spectral analysis methods have higher requirements for experiment personnel, equipment and sites, for which it is unable to achieve real-time portable detection. For the purpose of real-time portable microalgae detection, a real-time microalgae detection system of low detection requirement and fast detection speed is needed. MethodsThis study has developed a microalgae detection system based on deep learning. A microscopy imaging device based on bright field was constructed. With imaged captured from the device, a neural network based on YOLOv3 was trained and deployed on microcomputer, thus realizing real-time portable microalgae detection. This study has also improved the feature extraction network by introducing cross-region residual connection and attention mechanism and replacing optimizer with Adam optimizer using multistage and multimethod strategy. ResultsWith cross-region residual connection, the mAP value reached 0.92. Compared with manual result, the detection error was 2.47%. ConclusionThe system could achieve real-time portable microalgae detection and provide relatively accurate detection result, so it can be applied to periodic test in microalgae farming.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Abstract: The central question that guides this work is about whether a film recording camera, which is an object initially used for methodological purposes, could have a therapeutic function. The aim is to present and discuss the repercussions and possibilities related to the presence of a camera in cases of autistic shutdown in the Early Intervention Program, from a psychoanalytic perspective. This is clinical-qualitative research, with content analysis, based on clinical vignettes of three cases of children, between 2 and 3 years old. Three approaches are discussed regarding the uses and types of objects belonging to a baby's universe, to ask if they could assist in the autism clinic: the transitional object, the tutor object, and the mediation object. It is considered that the camera promoted and sustained important intersubjective meetings and the awakening of children's attention, previously less interested in what was offered to them, initiating a space for co-construction and interludicity.

ABSTRACT

In this essay, we aim to present some of the key transformations that psycho-analysis has undergone in its historical development. In this movement, the concepts of drive and object paradigms were established as main references to the psychoanalytic field. Our primary objective was to explore the presence of object relations in Freud's drive theory, especially in the first topography. Moreover, we seek to know how the dynamic of drives and the object are present in the thinking of one of the leading psychoanalysts of the first genera-tion, Karl Abraham. As an extension to this study, we point out some of the effects of how the notion of object, included in the theories of these paradigms, can underpin various concepts of development, psychopathology, and clinical practice in contemporary psychoanalysis. ABSTRACT

Abstract: With this study, we aim to achieve a few considerations on the building of object notion in psychoanalysis, with a starting reference from Freud and Melanie Klein's theories, to then, consider Pichon-Rivière's approach, which brings a relationship of complementarity and significant innovative modifications. It was from the Group Management and Coordination course in different contexts carried out at the Center of mental health studies and psychoanalysis of linking configurations (NESME), where some disquietudes emerged and lead to this study. By coordinating groups, we bring with us our representations about what the object is and if the group is taken as object, and will also consider an internalized notion of group. It seemed important to us that these questions could be the target of constant deliberations from group coordinators, as well as the appropriation and theoretical foundations as to how these concepts from psychoanalysis came to be. This introductory study may serve as a basis for the comprehension of the respective unfolding related to the formation of human subjectivity in psychoanalysis, subsequently fostering a way to continue thinking about group phenomena per se.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Retained foreign objects are any items left inside a patient after a surgery. Their incidence is unknown as they are often the cause of lawsuits and are not reported. They usual present as acute intestinal obstruction or enterocutaneous fistulas. We report the case of a 65-year-old female patient, with a history of a cesarean section 30 years before, who presented with a palpable tumor in the hypogastrium. The computed tomography scan revealed an elongated, heterogeneous, calcified mass with bubbles inside. On exploratory laparotomy a stony-hard formation was observed with multiple adhesions to the surrounding small bowel. The intestinal segment involved was resected and anastomosed. The pathology examination reported a retained foreign object in the intestinal lumen and presence of adhesions between loops with entero-enteric fistula, constituting a rare case.

ABSTRACT

Foreign bodies can cause intoxication (depending on the composition of the material) or even perforation of the alimentary canal and gastrointestinal obstruction. When foreign body ingestion is suspected, imaging tests such as radiology, ultrasound, and endoscopy are valuable diagnostic tools. The objective of this paper was to report a case of an avian of the species Gallus gallus domesticus, Brahma breed, seven months old, male, weighing 4.3 kg, with sensitivity in the body cavity, and a history of regurgitation, hyporexia, and prostration for five days. Plain radiographs indicated the presence of a radiopaque foreign body (screw) lodged in the ventricle region (gizzard). After clinical treatment with gastric lavages for five days without success, it was decided to perform an upper digestive endoscopy under general anesthesia with ketamine and isoflurane. The foreign body was satisfactorily removed with polypectomy loop forceps, and the bird showed rapid clinical improvement without complications. Endoscopy proved to be a minimally invasive and effective procedure for resolving the present case. Avian veterinary practitioners may consider using endoscopy to diagnose and resolve foreign bodies in the alimentary canal of birds.(AU)

ABSTRACT

In order to specify the information expression of acupuncture effect and realize the knowledge reuse and sharing, in view of animal experiments and clinical trials, the relevant knowledge of acupuncture effect is allocated. Using seven-step method and Protégé5.5.0 tool, the ontology of acupuncture effect is constructed on the base of ISO/TS 16843-6: 2022. A total of 199 classes are constructed, including 7 categories (acupuncture point, acupuncture therapy, needling method, biological process, genes and gene products, disorder, and anatomic structure), 12 object properties, 1 108 instances and 5 123 axioms. A semantic network with the characteristics of acupuncture and moxibustion is established and the structured expression for the knowledge of acupuncture effects is obtained, which lays the foundation for the innovation and development in the field of acupuncture and moxibustion.

ABSTRACT

Chinese herbal piece is an important component of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) system, and identifying their quality and grading can promote the development and utilization of Chinese herbal pieces. Utilizing deep learning for intelligent identification of Chinese herbal pieces can save time, effort, and cost, while also reasonably avoiding the constraints of human subjectivity, providing a guarantee for efficient identification of Chinese herbal pieces. In this study, a dataset containing 108 kinds of Chinese herbal pieces (14 058 images) was constructed, the basic YOLOv4 algorithm was employed to identify the 108 kinds of Chinese herbal pieces of our database The mean average precision (mAP) of the developed basic YOLOv4 model reached 85.3%. In addition, the receptive field block was introduced into the neck network of YOLOv4 algorithm, and the improved YOLOv4 algorithm was used to identify Chinese herbal pieces. The mAPof the improved YOLOv4 model achieved 88.7%, the average precision of 80 kinds of decoction pieces exceeded 80%, the average precision of 48 kinds of decoction pieces exceeded 90%. These results indicate that adding the receptive field module can help to some extent in the identification of Chinese herbal medicine pieces with different sizes and small volumes. Finally, the average precision of each kind of Chinese herbal medicine piece by the improved YOLOv4 model was further analyzed. Through in-depth analysis of the original images of Chinese herbal medicine pieces with low prediction average precision, it was clarified that the quantity and quality of original images of Chinese herbal medicine pieces are key to performing intelligent object detection. The improved YOLOv4 model constructed in this study can be used for the rapid identification of Chinese herbal pieces, and also provide reference guidance for the manual authentication of Chinese herbal medicine decoction pieces.
