ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Introduction: A strong core can be more stable and improve the body posture of adolescents. This enables the organic integration and development of all parts of the body, as well as the coordination of the upper and lower limbs. Core strength training is conducive to improving its physical strength in the youth group. Objective: To study the influence of core strength on adolescents' motor skills and physical literacy. Methods: 40 teenagers were selected for group training. The experimental group performed core strength training, while the control group used traditional strength training. After the training period, the improvement of the physical fitness and motor skills of the two groups of volunteers was analyzed. Results: There were statistical differences between the two groups of young athletes in various technical and physical fitness indicators. Conclusion: Core strength training can improve the basic skills of young athletes, such as fast running, jumping and so on, but the effect of improving high physical fitness is not obvious. The experiment shows that a certain period of core strength training can improve their physical and motor skills. In future training for youth, core strength training should be advocated. Level of evidence II; Evidence from well-designed randomized controlled trials.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:One-legged standing with eyes closed is a method to test the muscle strength and the ability of body balance, it is considered to be an important quality indicator for evaluation of adults and elderly balancing capability in our country. A lot of works have been done in many provinces and cities, but there is a lack of in-depth studies. OBJECTIVE:To review the research progress of one-legged standing with eyes closed, to analyze its problem used in the physical fitness test and to prospect the future direction of the related researches. METHODS:A computer-based search on CNKI database and Elsevier database was undertaken to identify the article of balance capacity. The key words were“eyes closed and single legged standing, balance ability, physical fitness test”. Total y articles were searched and checked primarily, and those meeting the criteria were looked up. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The standard of one-legged standing with eyes closed for the male is higher than that for the female. Some elderly just stand for a short time in the test, and thus it is difficult to distinguish the balance ability. Elderly balance is significantly lower than that in young people. The same test method for adults and elderly people is employed, but whether it is scientific or not should be further studied. Various indicators in the test of one-legged standing with eyes closed have low correlation. For the above reasons, further studies should be made before the test of one-legged standing with eyes closed becomes a valuable measurement of the balance ability in the national physique.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this research was to evaluate the (VO2máx), in indirect tests of 1600m (Almeida et al., 2010) and 12 min (Cooper, 1968). 49 physically fit military aged 25.6±3.10 years, BMI23±1.4 kg.m2, where randomly chosen according to the inclusion criteria of the research took part of it. The (VO2máx) was measured through COOPER and Almeida equations after the tests of 1600m and 12min run, collected and analyzed physiological parameters of cardiac frequency glycemia and lactate were collected before and after the tests. Besides, the subjective perception of effort at the end of each test was evaluated. Through the physiological parameters, it could be observed a great reliability between the 1600m and 12min run tests, in which the (vo2máx) value in the former (43.63±3.21) was higher than in the latter test (39.42±4.18), showing a significant incriase (p<0.0001), attributed to the power developedduring the exercise test, which can be observed for lactate in the 1600m. The 1600m test, proved to be an effective alternative in measuring (vo2máx) in milytary, being an indirect measure of cost and ease of use and great value for their applicability in the military institutions.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to confirm the reliability and validity of a physical fitness questionnaire (PFQ) with self-rating for elderly people applying structural equation modeling (SEM) . As subjects, 105 community-dwelling older men and women aged 67.1±6.1 years participated in the study to measure 13 PFQ items and 13 performance tests. The data analysis procedures were as follows : a) testing reliability of PFQ ; b) testing of construct validity of PFQ using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) ; c) testing of criterion-related validity of PFQ to the performance tests using SEM ; d) testing of correlations of the PFQ to walking ability using SEM. Cronbaeh's alpha coefficient for consistency reliability of the PFQ was .83. Four common factors of muscle strength-power, endurance, coordination, and flexibility were extracted in EFA. The high and enough goodness of fit indices were obtained in the confirmatory factor structure model, and in each sub-domain of criterion-related validity to performance tests and correlation to walking ability models. The criterion-related validity coefficient of muscle strength and power was .77, followed by .66 for endurance, .59 for coordination and .82 for flexibility. The correlation coefficient of muscle strength and power to walking ability was -.51, followed by -.58 for coordination, - .43 for endurance and - . 28 for flexibility. These results indicated that the PFQ consisting of 13 items and 4 sub-domains satisfied reliability and construct validity although criterion related validity to performance tests was insufficient. It was concluded that the PFQ is of useful for physical fitness checking of elderly people.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to propose useful ADLs (activities of daily living) and scales to estimate ADL ability on community older people from the viewpoints of aging, physical fitness level, and interrelationship among ADL. The survey constructing of 15 ADL items and physical fitness test of Ministry of Education, Science and Culture were carried out on 458 older people. Each ADL item was constructed with 3 level scales.
As the results of this study, the following 12 ADLs were proposed as useful ADL items; in the locomotion domain, jumping across a ditch, walking, running, up and down stairs, and transfer; in the manipulation domain, taking bedding in and out, buttoning a shirt; in stability domain, standing in the bus or train, dressing while standing (trousers), standing on one foot with eyes open; in the posture-change domain, sitting up, standing up from the floor. These items were significantly related to age and physical fitness elements contributed largely to achievement of each ADL. Since significant high correlation was found between the index using 12 ADL items and that using 15 items, it is considered that the 12 items scale can account for the variance corresponded enough to that of 15 items scale, and that the new index is practical and simple.
In further research, it will be required to examine validity of each ADL item and index by using more large sample, and to clarify the relation to various factors influenced to ADL ability level.

ABSTRACT

The principal cause of avulsion fracture of anterior superior iliac spine is sudden powerful contraction of sartorius muscle in strenuous sporting activities. The condition usually occurs in young people in whom the apophysis has still not firmly united to the ilium. We presented the three cases of avulsion fracture of anterior superior iliac spine which occurred during sprinting in Physical Fitness Test.
