ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of multislice spiral CT (MSCT)in ureteral polyps by multi-phase enhanced scan. Methods Seven cases of ureteral polyps confirmed by operation and pathology were retrospectively analyzed, including 5 fibro-epithelial polyps and 2 inflammatory polyps. All of the patients underwent MSCT multi-phase enhanced scan.Thin slice reconstruction,three-dimensional post processing including maximum intensity projection (MIP),multi planar reconstruction (MPR)and volume reconstruction (VR) were performed for each phase data. Results The fibro-epithelial polyps were more common in the young men.Their longitudinal diameters were significantly greater than the transverse diameters. The shapes were cordal, papillary,or columnar. They were not enhanced obviously in the arterial phase, however, enhanced obviously in the delayed phase.Inflammatory polyps were more common in adults and all of them were accompanied with stones.Their longitudinal diameters were slightly greater than the transverse diameters, and the shape was spindle. The margins were unclear with cord changes. The upper and lower ureters showed extensive thickening of the wall. These polyps were significantly enhanced in the arterial phase and further strengthened in the delayed phase. Conclusion The morphology and dynamic enhancement characteristics of ureteral polyps can be displayed and clearly diagnosed by MSCT.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study clinical application value of 128-slice spiral CT imaging post-processing technique in knee joint trauma. Methods 75 cases of knee traumatic patients were examined by ordinary X-ray and 128-slice spiral CT imaging post-process-ing technique, and retrospectively analysed. Results For 75 cases of knee trauma patients,on X-ray examination 64 cases of fracture patients(78 fractures),6 patients of possible fractures,5 cases of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis in were found, the detection rate was 88.6%;all patients underwent 128-slice spiral CT imaging post-processing technique-MPR/VR,and definite diagnosis of knee joint bone fracture was found in 75 cases (88 fractures),the detection rate was 100.0%,which was significantly higher than that on the X-ray examination (χ2 =6.1 1 7 2,P <0.05).The MPR reconstruction of knee joint fracture is of the highest detection rate.Con-clusion MSCT imaging post-processing technique can directly, clearly and comprehensive display knee joint trauma cases, and help doctors understand the relationship between fractures, soft tissue and joint space,in order to develop accurate and reasonable clinical treatment plan.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the improvement effect of SLOT Scan technology (narrow seam exposure capture technology) and the radiography techniques on the quality of the scoliosis X-ray films in teenagers. Methods The Sonialvision Satire Ⅱ equipment of Shimadzu corporation and SLOT Scan were applied to take the radiography for 60 patients taller than 1.50 metres. All the data were collected through a continual exposure, and the images were sewn up through a seamless connec-tion software. Results Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar and sacral segments could clearly present at the same time on one X-ray film by seamless splicing, and the quality of one time radiograph was as good as one film. Conclusion As a new radiology technique, SLOT Scan can wipe off splitting arti-fact effectively and make the whole spine seamless present on one X-ray film. It helps the spinal sur-geons to observe, calculate and measure accurately. It is useful to choose the operation mode and judge the curative effect.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the application of computed radiography(CR) in X-ray projection of whole lower limbs. Methods The radiography in the patient with bilateral knee-malformation was performed using 500 mA X-ray apparatus and several imaging plates(IP) jointed together, then the images including whole both sides of lower limbs were obtained by post-proccesing technique. Results The images not only could show the whole lower limbs on a single film, but be intact. The images also could be used for measuring the length of leg,the angle between the axises of the thigh and the magnifying really. Conclusion The image of whole bilateral lower limbs with a good quality and unity can be acquired using CR and post-processing technique appropriately.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the value in detecting the tracheobronchial tree invasion by central lung cancer (CLC)using MSCT axial images and 4 kinds of images post-processed techniques. Methods 38 cases with CLC identified by fibrobrochoscopy or operation were scanned using MX8000 scanner with slice thickness of 3.2 mm, overlapping interval of 1.6 mm, pitch of 1.0. Multiplanar reformation(MPR), shaded surface display(SSD), volume rendering (VR) and virtual endoscopy(VE) were performed in all cases. Two radiologists assessed the invasion of tracheobronchial tree by CLC together. The imaging findings were compared with the data of surgery in 12 cases who were undergone operation. Results 38 cases of CLC, 0 grade to Ⅳ grade were assessed in 0,8,14,11 and 5 cases respectively by MSCT axial images, while in 0,10,11,12 and 5 cases by MSCT post-processing images. The concordance rate was 75% for MSCT axial images(n=9), and 100% for MSCT post-processing images(n=12) among 12 cases performed operation(? 2 test,? 2=6.0,P
