ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Dahuang Xiaozhi Suppository combined with tetracycline in treating type Ⅲ prostatitis infected with nano-bacteria. Methods Totally 120 patients of type Ⅲprostatitis infected with nano-bacteria were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 60 cases in each group. Both groups were disabled anti-infective drugs and other preparations for diet and life intervention. Both groups received tetracycline, once a tablet, twice a day, orally. The treatment group received Dahuang Xiaozhi Suppository, once a capsule, once a day, placing in the anus 3-4 cm. 10 d was a treatment course, for 3 courses. The clinical efficacy, major symptoms improving time, NIH-CPSI, leukocyte count and ecithin corpuscles in expressed prostatic secretion (EPS), urinary flow rate, and cytokine content of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8, were evaluated. Results The total effective rate was 100.0% (60/60) in treatment group and 83.3% (50/60) in the control group, and treatment group was higher than the control group (P<0.05). Pelvic pain, urinary symptom, and scrotum wet improvement time of treatment group were lower than the control group (P<0.05). Compared with before the treatment, the NIH-CPSI pain scores, urinary symptom scores, life quality score, leukocyte count and TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 content of EPS in both groups were significantly lower after treatment (P<0.05), and the cases with lecithin corpuscles +++ - ++++ in both groups significantly increased after treatment (P<0.05). The urinary peak flow rate and mean flow rate in both groups were higher after treatment (P<0.05). There was statistical significance in the scores of NIH-CPSI pain, urinary symptom and life quality, leukocyte count and TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 content of EPS, and the cases with lecithin corpuscles ++++ between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Dahuang Xiaozhi Suppository can improve the efficacy of treating type Ⅲ prostatitis infected with nano-bacteria. Combining Dahuang Xiaozhi Suppository with tetracycline can reduce prostate inflammation, with obvious efficacy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of application of differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome and rectal administration of TCM decoction for treatment of patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and its influence on chemotherapy toxic side effects. Methods Seventy-two patients with NSCLC were randomly divided into two groups:the chemotherapy alone group and rectal administration group(each 36 cases). Both groups received chemotherapy, and the rectal administration group additionally took the rectal administration of self made Kangfei Sanjie decoction(composition:ephedra 6 g,forsythia 20 g,citrus aurantium 20 g,platycodon root 10 g,almonds 10 g,rhubarb charcoal 6 g,scutellariae barbatae 30 g,hedyotic diffusa 30 g,actinidiae 15 g, fritillariae thunbergii 10 g,angelica 10 g,asarum 3 g,mirabilitum depuratum 6 g),and according to the patient's individual situation, the ingredients of the decoction could be added or subtracted to perform pulverization enema, once a day,21 days constituting one therapeutic course. After two cycles of chemotherapy, the changes of tumor lesions,KPS score and the occurrence and degree of chemotherapy adverse reaction were observed. Results The total therapeutic efficiency of rectal administration group was higher than that of chemotherapy alone group, but there was no significant difference between them(63.89% vs. 55.56%,P>0.05);the KPS score of rectal administration group was apparently higher than that of chemotherapy alone group(89.52±10.25 vs. 83.17±8.08,P0.05). Conclusion Application of TCM differentiation of syndrome and rectal administration of TCM drug, Kangfei Sanjie decoction, can significantly improve the quality of life of NSCLC patients, reduce toxic side effects of chemotherapy, and the method is simple and inexpensive.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the effect of morphine hydrochloride sustained-release tablets given by different administration routes on patients with cancer pain. Methods: Chosen patients with cancer pain as research subjects, underwent morphine hydrochloride sustained-release tablets for treatment of pain, randomized to receive oral administration as control group and rectally administration as observation group, observed pain relief degree, onset time of analgesia and adverse reaction rates.Results:1)After treatment, the observation group patients’ overall response rate was 94.05%,no significant difference compared with the control group; 2) After treatment, the observation group patients had a mean onset time (0.68 ±0.17) h, significantly shorter than the control group,0.5h, 1h, 2h, 4h of onset percentages of analgesia were higher than control group; 3)After treatment, the observation group patients’ incidence of adverse reactions was 2.38%, significantly lower than the control group. Conclusion: The morphine hydrochloride sustained release tablets rectal administration route can significantly alleviate cancer pain, shorten onset time of analgesia, and don’t increase the incidence of adverse reactions.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Recently, the bispectral index monitor has been promoted as an objective measure of sedation depth during pediatric procedural sedation in the emergency department (ED). However, rectal administration of thiopental sodium for pediatric procedural sedation has not been validated. METHODS: Patients aged one to seven years and undergoing primary closure procedures for simple facial and hand laceration in the ED were enrolled. Procedural sedation was performed by rectal administration of thiopental sodium. The bispectral index score and the Ramsay Sedation Scale were recorded every 10 minutes during sedation. The investigator and treating physician were blinded to bispectral index scores, which were later correlated with the Ramsay Sedation Scales values. Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves were conducted to determine the ability of the bispectral index score to discriminate various thresholds of sedation depth. RESULTS: One hundred thirty paired measurements were obtained from 12 patients. The Spearman's correlation coefficient for paired measurements, was -0.906 (95% confidence interval: [-9.8] ~ [-8.1], p<0.001). ROC curve analysis demonstrated a high discriminatory power for bi-spectral index scores in predicting the level of sedation, with areas under the curve at least 0.95 for all Ramsay Sedation Scale thresholds. CONCLUSION: Bispectral index monitoring can serve as a useful, objective measure of sedation depth in pediatric procedural sedation with rectal administration of thiopental sodium in the ED.
