ABSTRACT

Paciente masculino de 48 años con antecedente de hipertensión, que consulta por dolor abdominal difuso continuo, anorexia y aumento progresivo del perímetro abdominal. Al examen por TC se observa importante formación sólida heterogénea de densidad predominantemente grasa, que ocupa la casi totalidad del abdomen con desplazamiento de estructuras del abdomen superior; luego de la administración de medio de contraste formación presenta además componente de densidad de partes blandas de aspecto vegetante con realce heterogéneo que infiltra el retroperitoneo. Luego de su recesión completa, se concluye con el diagnostico de liposarcoma.


48 years old male patient with a history of hypertension, that consultation by diffuse abdominal pain continued, anorexia and progressive increase in the abdominal circumference. To review by TC is important training solid heterogeneous density predominantly fat that occupies almost the whole of the abdomen with displacement of structures in the upper abdomen, after the administration of contrast medium training is also a component of soft tissue density of vegetative aspect with heterogeneous enhancement that infiltrates the retroperitoneum, after his complete recession, it is concluded with the diagnosis of liposarcoma.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the miRNA (micro RNA)differential expression profile between primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma tissues and normal fat tissues,and to provide the evidence that miRNA were involved in the molecular pathways of primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma tissues' occurrence.Methods:Collecting retroperitoneal liposarcoma tissues and normal fat tissues from 4 patients after radical surgery of retroperitoneal lipsarcoma.Using microarray analysis.The tissues' miRNA hybridizated with human's LC Sciences microRNA Microarray-Single (miRBase 21.0) expression profile gene chips,and got the date.Analyzing the differential expressing of the siginal date by LOWESS.Results:Total 38 differential expressed miRNA were found (P<0.05),including 23 over-expression and 15 low-expression miRNAs.10 of them(38 differential miRNAs) was significant deviation (P<0.01),including 4 over-expression and 6 low-expression.Date analysis revealed that some miRNAs were associated some different tumors,Conclusion:The number of over-expression were more than the low-expression in primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma compared with the normol fat tissue,which indicate that the genes expression are less abundant in primary retroperitoneal li-posarcoma;some of the miRNAs might involved in the molecular pa-thways of primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma tissues' occurrence and recurrence,they might become the target point of the targetedtherapy of the primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma,some of the over-expressed miRNAs can become new biomarkers in the following diagnosis of the primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the prognosis and recurrent factors of primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma (PRPLS).Methods The retrospective case-control study was conducted.The clinicopathological data of 51 patients with PRPLS who were admitted to the Southwest Hospital of the Third Military Medical University from January 2005 and March 2015 were collected.Observation indicators:(1) follow-up institution.(2) Analysis of prognostic factors:gender,age,tumor diameter,combined organs resection,pathological type,cancer risk and local recurrence.(3) Analysis of recurrent risk factors:gender,age,tumor diameter,combined organs resection,pathological type and cancer risk.(4) Stratified analysis:the independent risk factors of recurrence were done by the stratified analysis.(5) Correlation between cancer risk and tumor diameter or number of organs invaded.(6) Correlation between adjacent organ invasion and tumor diameter.Follow-up using outpatient examination and telephone interview was performed to detect the survival of patients and tumor recurrence up to October 2015.The survival rate and curve were respectively calculated and drawn by KaplanMeier method.The univariate analysis and survival analysis were done using the Log-rank test.The multivariate analysis was done by the COX regression model.The correlation analysis was done using the Pearson test.Results (1) Follow-up institution:51 patients were followed up for 3-114 months,with a median time of 43 months.The 3-year survival rate of 51 patients was 70.6%.Twenty-two patients had the first local recurrence,with a recurrent time of 3-60 months and a median time of 29 months.(2)Analysis of prognostic factors:the results of univariate analysis showed that tumor diameter,combined organs resection,pathological type,cancer risk and local recurrence were the related factors affecting prognosis of patients with PRPLS (x2 =5.926,4.936,17.856,17.279,14.568,P < 0.05).The results of multivariate analysis showed that combined organs resection,pathological type and cancer risk were the independent factors affecting prognosis of patients with PRPLS [OR =0.538,0.645,9.620,95% confidence interval (CI):0.238-0.997,0.458-1.058,1.692-18.714,P < 0.05].(3) Analysis of recurrent risk factors:the results of univariate analysis showed that pathological type and cancer risk were the related factors affecting recurrence of patients with PRPLS (x2 =12.375,12.364,P < 0.05).The results of multivariate analysis showed that cancer risk was an independent factor affecting recurrence of patients with PRPLS (OR =6.234,95% CI:1.419-27.377,P < 0.05).(4) Stratified analysis:the 3-year survival rates of 11 patients with low risk of recurrence of PRPLS and with high risk of recurrence of PRPLS were 63.6% and 9.1%,respectively,with a statistically significant difference (x2 =12.364,P < 0.05).(5)Correlation between cancer risk and tumor diameter or number of organs invaded.Tumor diameter and number of organs invaded were respectively (17 ±8)cm,1 ± 1 in 33 patients with low risk of PRPLS and (19 ±5)cm,2 ± 1 in 18 patients with high risk of PRPLS,with no statistically significant difference in tumor diameter (r =0.222,P > 0.05) and with a statistically significant difference in number of organs invaded (r =0.666,P < 0.05).(6)Correlation between adjacent organ invasion and tumor diameter.Tumor diameter was (16 ± 8) cm in 19 patients without adjacent organ invasion and (19 ± 7)cm in 32 patients with adjacent organ invasion,respectively,showing no statistically significant difference (r =0.225,P > 0.05).Conclusions The combined organs resection,pathological type and cancer risk are independent factors affecting prognosis of patients with PRPLS,and cancer risk is an independent factor affecting recurrence of patients with PRPLS.The prognosis of patients with low risk of PRPLS is better than that with high risk of PRPLS.The organ invaded is much likely to occur in patients with high risk of PRPLS.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To retrospectively analyze related factors of subtype transformation and to identify prognostic factors for pa-tients with retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RPLS). Methods:This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 92 patients with RPLS, which were confirmed by postoperative pathology from July 1997 to October 2014 in Henan Provincial Tumor Hospital. Related studies were reviewed, and the prognoses were followed up. The factors may affect subtype transformation or prognoses were applied to the statistical analysis. Results:A total of 74 patients with RPLS were included according to the recruiting standard. The 5-year survival rate was 48.65%. Lobulated tumors (P=0.013) were the correlative factors that influenced subtype transformation. The Log-rank test showed that the age at diagnosis (P=0.045), multi-visceral resection (P=0.042), tumor necrosis (P<0.001), subtype transformation (P<0.001), and malignant level of pathological subtypes of the first operation (P<0.001) influenced overall survival. Multivariate Cox re-gression analysis showed that tumor necrosis and the malignant level of the initial histological grade were independent factors of over-all survival. Conclusion:Lobulated tumors are likely to transform the subtype. The prognosis of patients with RPLS is correlated with multi-visceral resection, tumors necrosis, subtype transformation, and the malignant level of pathological subtypes of the first opera-tion. Multi-visceral resection could not improve the 5-year survival rate of RPLS, and adjuvant therapy could not improve the prognosis.

ABSTRACT

A 39-year-old woman was referred to our hospital at 28+2 week gestation. Routine obstetric examination revealed a palpable pelvic mass. Initial investigation by magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a huge solid mass with heterogeneous enhancement that completely filled the right side of the abdomen. She underwent two surgeries: a programmed cesarean section by Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology team and a laparotomy performed by the General Surgery team. Final diagnosis was de-differentiated liposarcoma (French Federation Nationale des Centres de Lutte Contre le Cancer grade 2/3). She has been treated with radiation therapy focusing on high risk area of retroperitoneum followed by adjuvant chemotherapy (doxorubicin and ifosfamide). Below is the full case with literature review.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: This is a report of the surgical treatment and prognosis of retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RPLS) in Koreans. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Nineteen patients treated for RPLS between July 1, 1984, and March 31, 2009, were included. Patient demographics, histopathologic subtypes, survival rate, disease recurrence rate and interval, and adjuvant therapy were reviewed and analyzed. RESULTS: Of the 19 patients diagnosed with RPLS, 26.3% presented with well-differentiated RPLS, 10.5% with dedifferentiated RPLS, 15.8% with myxoid/round cell type, and 47.4% with mixed-type liposarcoma. The mean follow-up period was 66.8 months (range, 6 to 165 months). Primary RPLS was treated in 17 patients. Nine patients (52.9%) had recurrent disease, and recurrence developed at a mean of 47.7 months after primary or repeated surgical treatment. The overall survival rate was 84.2% during a mean follow-up of 66.8 months. The 3- and 5-year survival rates were 86.9%, and the 10-year survival rate was 69.5%. The recurrence interval was significantly shorter in recurrent RPLS cases (p=0.023). The mean growth rate of locally recurrent tumors was 0.34 cm per month. CONCLUSIONS: The survival rates reported here were higher than in previous studies. Locally recurrent tumors presented with a low growth rate, which may have contributed to the relatively high survival rate. A high prevalence of mixed-type RPLS was also noted, and its cause and prognosis require further research.

ABSTRACT

Liposarcoma is one of the most common soft tissue sarcoma of adult life. Among soft tissue sarcoma its incidence ranges from 10% to 12%, and its two major sites are the extremities and the retroperitoneum. Liposarcoma is remarkable because of its frequent large size, variable histological picture, and high recurrent rate. We report a case of recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma in a 38-year-old woman who was treated with radical nephrectomy including tumor excision in August 1988. Four and half years after the first operation, she was diagnosed as recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma and treated by tumor excision. Six months after the second operation, presented with the second recurrent retroperitoneal tumor, she underwent tumor excision and radiation therapy and she is under being followed up.

ABSTRACT

Retroperitoneal liposarcoma comprises 12 to 45 percent of all liposarcoma. It has been a therapeutic dilemma and a less prognosis because of its tendency to attain a tremendous size due to early silent growth and difficult wide en bloc excision in the retroperitoneum. Here in we report a case of retroperitoneal liposarcoma in 51 year old male patient with a brief review of the literatures.
