ABSTRACT

A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in the Intensive Care Unit of Dr Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso Teaching General Hospital in Santiago de Cuba during the 2008, with the aim of determining the usefulness of the arterial oxygenation rate as a tool for evaluating the state of arterial oxygenation in patients with breathing sepsis who had been ventilated The information sources which were used were the medical record and the arterial gasometry. In the 3 determinations of blood gases, there were normal arterial oxygenation rates, which evidenced that this indicator had little use to measure the state of arterial oxygenation in these patients.
