ABSTRACT

@#Objective To study the clinical effect of Shengjin Yiwei Decoction on chronic heart failure(CHF)complicated with gastrointestinal dysfunction in patients with deficiency of stomach Yin.Methods Totally 68 patients with stomach Yin deficiency syndrome CHF complicated with gastrointestinal dysfunction in our hospital were selected. On the basis of active treatment of heart failure, the control group was treated with omeprazole enteric-soluble capsule, domperidone tablet and pancrease enteric-soluble capsule, and the experimental group was treated with Shengjin Yiwei Decoction. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared.traditional Chinese medicine symptom quantification score, gastrointestinal function quantification score, serum gastrin(GAS),plasma motilin(MTL),interleukin(IL)-6 and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α levels. Results The effective rate of experimental group was significantly higher than that of control group(χ2=13.73,P<0.05).After treatment, the quantitative score of gastrointestinal dysfunction, quantitative score of TCM symptoms, serum IL-6 and serum TNF-α levels in 2 groups were significantly lower than before treatment, and the above indexes in test group were significantly lower than control group(P<0.05).The levels of serum GAS and plasma MTL in 2 groups were significantly higher than before treatment, and the above indexes in test group were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Shengjin Yiwei Decoction has obvious curative effect on stomach and Yin deficiency syndrome CHF complicated with gastrointestinal dysfunction, can improve clinical manifestations, adjust the level of gastrointestinal hormones and inflammatory factors, and is worthy of clinical application.

ABSTRACT

Dendrobium officinale is a traditional Chinese medicine for nourishing Yin and benefiting stomach. Its superfine powder has many advantages, such as good dissolution, high utilization rate, strong integrity and easy to use. However, the researches on effect of D. officinale superfine powder on stomach Yin deficiency model are still not sufficient. In this experiment, we explored the effect of D. officinale superfine powder in mice model with stomach Yin deficiency caused by "spicy overeating", and provided certain reference value for its application in gastrointestinal diseases. Male ICR mice were randomly divided into normal group, model group, Yiweitang group, omeprazole group, and D. officinale superfine powder high, medium and low dose groups. The mixture of wine and pepper liquid was given by gavage administration for 30 d, and the corresponding drug was given for 60 d while the model was conti-nued. The body weight, food intake, water intake, fecal moisture content and particle number, foot temperature of mice were measured. The levels of serum gastrin(Gas), motilin(MTL) and somatostatin(SS) were measured by ELISA. Gastric histomorpho-logy was observed by HE staining. The expression levels of nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB) and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) were determined by immunohistochemistry. The expression levels of B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2) and Bcl-2 associated X protein(Bax) in gastric tissues were detected by Western blot. The results showed that D. officinale superfine powder could increase the food intake, water intake, fecal moisture content and particle number, reduce the foot temperature, improve the pathological changes of gastric mucosa, reduce the expression of NF-κB, COX-2 protein in gastric tissues, and increase the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2. D. officinale superfine powder can "nourish Yin and benefit the stomach", improve the syndrome of stomach Yin deficiency, such as "hunger but not want to eat, dry mouth but not want to drink, hand and feet hot, constipation", and reduce the damage of gastric mucosa. The mechanism may be related to regulating the secretion of gastrointestinal hormones, inhibiting the inflammation of gastric tissues and promoting the apoptosis of abnormal cells in gastric tissues.

ABSTRACT

Poor eating is a life-threatening condition in senior citizens. Herein, we report a case of poor eating due to stomach yin deficiency (wei yin xu), which was successfully treated with bakumondoto. The patient was a 91-year-old woman who expected treatment for her poor food intake. She was diagnosed as poor eating with stomach yin deficiency and was administered with bakumondoto, which increased her food intake and weight. To treat poor eating with Kampo medicine, rikkunshito and various other Kampo drugs are commonly used. In this case, bakumondoto, which is usually used for respiratory diseases such as dry cough, was effective. Bakumondoto is useful for stomach yin deficiency of poor eating.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the curative effect of modified Yiweitang on anorexia of the Spleen and Stomach Yin deficient type. Methods90 patients with anorexia belonging to spleen yin deficiency type were randomized in to 2 groups, by 1: 1 ratio. According to the age of children, appropriate dose of modified Yiwei decoction (treatment group) and Erbao Granule (control group), 3 times/d, for 4 weeks were given to the children. Clinical efficacy of the treatment group was observed before and after the treatment and compared with the control group. Results(①) symptom scores: Vomiting (0.061±0.024), sweating (0.140±0.004), stool (0.024±0.011), urine (0.026±0.010) in treatment group after treatment, showing statistical significance (P<0.05) with the control group. ② disease treatment: The total effective rate was 93.3% and 91.1% in the treatment group and the control group, the difference was not statistically significant (X2=0.886, P>0.05). ③symptoms treatment: The total effective rate was 95.6% and 66.7% in the treatment group and the control group respectively, the difference was statistically significant (x2=0.625, P<0.05). Conclusion The treatment of modified Yiweitang was better than Erbao Granule in treating children with anorexia belonging to stomach yin deficiency.
