ABSTRACT

Objective To develop a HIS architecture based on.NET in C/S environment,so that the different functional modules of the HIS can be easily loaded into the architecture to improve the efficiency of HIS development and reduce development costs. Methods The proposed HIS architecture underwent hierarchical structure design, and was composed of boundary, logic, data access and physical layers. The user input data through the boundary layer, responded to the user request through the logic layer, and reacted to the request from the logic layer through the data access layer to realize database access. The boundary, logic and data access layers transferred data through the physical layer which was used as the data carrier.C# language of Visual Studio 2008 was applied to the development of the architecture program. Results The system could conveniently load each function module in HIS of the hospital, which greatly facilitated the developer to control the function of the program. Conclusion The system meets the requirements of medical staff and management to the software, improves the efficiency of HIS system development, and reduces the cost of system development.

ABSTRACT

The article analyzed the system architecture design of the Shanghai municipal hospital clinical information sharing project, aiming to provide reference for system design of a regional medical information sharing system. This project is composed of the following: A universal medical card, hospital's internal information system, an inter-hospital network, a clinical information exchange and sharing platform, a data center, a decision support system and a public service portal. Key issues involved in the system design include the personal identity, the establishment of standards and specifications, the information sharing model, the information storage model, systems related to hospitals and personal privacy protection.

ABSTRACT

Electronic health records (EHR) hold promise in improving the quality and efficiency of health care, yet the health care system remains years behind other industries with respect to the adoption of information technology (IT). Stakeholders in the medical community, including government and tertiary hospitals, have emphasized the urgent need to adopt IT systems. This paper reviews the current research and development efforts related to EHR in Korea, which have been supported by the government since December 2005, on the basis of the following core EHR components: EHR architectures that incorporate an external, implementation-independent view of a complete EHR; EHR functionality for defining tasks that an EHR system should perform; semantic ontology for developing standard vocabularies at the national level; EHR messaging standards for exchanging data; and clinical decision support systems for improving patient safety. Recent international work on EHR systems and the underlying trends are described, and suitable directions for research and development are suggested under relevant subtopics. Advances in the relevant areas will greatly facilitate our ability to achieve interoperability and promote patient safety. However, EHR systems will perform optimally only if we improve our understanding of the political, structural, and technical foundations for EHR, and reach consensus via collaborations between all the stakeholders in the health care system.
