ABSTRACT

Objectives: To explore related factors of sociodemographic characteristics and family dynamics of different self-esteem groups of junior middle school students. Methods: A total of 1059 junior middle school students were recruited. The Self-designed sociodemographic characteristic questionnaire, the Self-Esteem Scale and the Selfrating scale of systemic family dynamic were applied. According to SES scores, the high self-esteem group, the middle group and the low group were constructed. The differences of sociodemographic characteristics and systemic family dynamics were compared between these groups by χ2-test and ANCOVA. Ordinal logistic regression was conducted to determine the relation between self-esteem and sociodemographic characteristics and family dynamic factors. Results:The higher self-esteem group had the better of parental education attainment, family life quality, parent relationship, and the more subjects born in Shanghai (Ps < 0. 05). After controlling the above sociodemographic characteristics, family atmosphere scores and individuality scores in the high self-esteem group were the lowest and these in the low group were highest (Ps < 0. 05). Not being born in Shanghai (OR = 1. 57, 95% CI: 1. 15-2. 14) was a risk factor for low self-esteem, while the lower scores of family atmosphere (OR = 0. 48, 95% CI: 0. 36-0. 65) and the lower scores of individuality (OR = 0. 66, 95% CI: 0. 52-0. 83) were protective factors for low self-esteem. Conclusion:It suggests that there are significant different sociodemographic characteristics and family dynamic factors among different self-esteem junior middle school students. Self-esteem may be related to whether being born natively, family atmosphere, and individuality in junior middle school students.

ABSTRACT

Objectives:To explore self-esteem and systemic family dynamics of junior middle school students with different family life quality and their association. Methods:A total of 1059 junior middle school students were recruited into the present study. The self-designed sociodemographic information questionnaire, the self-esteem scale and the Self-rating Scale of Systemic Family Dynamic (SSFD)were applied to assess subjects'sociodemographic information,self-esteem and systemic family dynamic factors. The association between the family life quality and selfesteem and systemic family dynamic factors were analyzed.Pearson correlation, multiple regression and AMOS were conducted to determine the relation between self-esteem and family dynamic factors. Results:The better family life quality, the higher scores of self-esteem and the lower scores of family atmosphere, individuation and disease conception(Ps < 0.05).For the sample of all subjects, there were negative correlations among the scores of self-esteem and the scores of family atmosphere, individuation, system logic and disease conception (r =-0.41--0.12,P <0.01).Except the negative correlation between system logic and disease conception, there were positive correlations among the scores of the 4 dimensions of SSFD (r =-0.18-0.51,Ps <0.01).The scores of family atmosphere and individuation negatively predicted the self-esteem scores (β =-0.29,-0.23,Ps < 0.01).The associations between the scores of self-esteem and family dynamic factors were existed among the different groups of family life quality. Conclusion:The junior middle school students with better family life quality tend to have better self-esteem and systemic family dynamic factors;systemic family dynamics of junior middle school students could predict their self-esteem.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore agreement between parent-child report of self-rating scale of systemic family dynamics (SSFD),as well as factors that may influence the agreement. Methods SSFD was used to investigate the agreement between parent and child reports on family dynamics in a sample of 639 Chinese children aged 10 to 18 years from Mainland China, and possible influence factors. Results The results showed that there was significant difference between parent-child report of SSFD.The parents had significant lower score than their children at atmosphere, individuation and disease conception and had higher score at system logic (all P<0.01).But the two still had significant positive correlation (correlations ranging from 0.15 to 0.38),indicating a low to moderate agreement between them(r=-0.15-0.38,all P<0.01).The age factor was related to parent-children agreement on SSFD.Parent-child agreement was highest for family atmosphere, followed by individuation, system logic and disease conception. The age factor was related to parent-child agreement on SSFD.Conclusions Both parents' and children's reports of SSFD can be used to assess family dynamics, however, attention should be payed to the affection of parent-child report's difference and age factor to the results.

ABSTRACT

[Abstrict] Objective To explore the effect of systemic family dynamics, egma minnen bardndom on the psychological traits, treatment efficacy of the first onset schizophrenia. Methods 53 schizophrenia patients with first onset were assessed by Self-rating Scale of Systemic Family Dynamics (SSFD),Egma Minnen Bardndom Uppforstran (EMBU),Neurotism Scale (Nf),Psychoticism (PSY),Paranoia Scale (Pa),Psychopathic Deviate Scale (Pd),Tolerance Scale(To) of MMPI-2,and lie Scale (L) was used to control assessment effectiveness.40 normal control cases were assessed by SSFD and EMBU.The scale scores between study group and control groupwere compared, and correlation and regression of study group were analyzed. Results Scores of family atmosphere, individuation, system logic of SSFD were higher in study group than those in control group (t=4.04,3.295,2.44,all P<0.05),scores of emotional warmth and understand of EMBU in father and mother were lower in study group than those in control group (t=2.925,3.45,all P<0.01),scores of refused and deny and punishment and stern of EMBU in father and mother were higher in study group than those in control group((t=4.715,4.971,4.331,4.067,all P<0.01)).And correlation analysis showed that refused and deny of EMBU of father and mother, punishment and stern of EMBU of mother and PSY had significantly positive correlation(r=0.3378,0.4677,0.2895,all P<0.05),refused and deny and punishment and stern of EMBU of father and mother and Pa had significantly negative correlation (r=-0.2913,-0.3254,-0.5003,-0.3242,all P<0.05),punishment and stern and excessive interference of EMBU of father and Pd had significant positive correlation (r=0.3417,0.2958,all P<0.05),PSY of MMPI-2 and treatment effect had significant negative correlation (r=-0.3194,P<0.05).Regression analysis showed that psychoticism to forecast the poor treatment effect the rate was 10.2%,father and mother the refused and deny to forecast psychoticism high mark the rate respectively were 11.41% and 21.87%,mother the severe punishment to forecast the psychoticism high mark the rate was 8.13%,Conclusion Father and mother the refused and deny, mother severe punishment have effects on psychological traits of the first onset schizophrenia, psychoticism of psychological traits has an affect on treatment efficacy, the psychoticism high mark presages the poor treatment efficacy.
