ABSTRACT

Objective To establish the reference range of thyroid function from the normal pregnant women in different pregnant period in Hanzhong region. Methods According to the NACB inclusion criteria, collected local resident pregnant women 4 031 cases, from July 2012 to December 2015.With the combination of random sampling, stratified sampling and cluster sampling, thyroid hormone levels were measured by a fully automated chemiluminescence analyzer and its accompanying reagents. All patients were divided into three groups:998 cases in early pregnancy (T1),1 543 cases in mid-pregnancy (T2),1 490 cases in late pregnancy (T3),and 105 cases of non-pregnant women in childbearing age (T0) were selected as control group. Results The levels of thyroid hormones were different among three periods of pregnant women.TSH were 0.25~5.32,0.42~6.26 and 0.61~7.68 mIU/L respectively in the early, middle and late stages.FT3 were 3.54~6.04,3.57~5.94 and 2.93~5.40 pmol/L,respectively.FT4 was 7.11~16.88,6.78~16.94 and 6.03~16.87 pmol/L.Thyroid hormone levels in pregnant women compared with non-pregnant women, there were significant differences (TSH:x2=233.183,P<0.05,FT4:x2 =388.12,P<0.05 and FT3:x2 =558.795,P<0.05).TSH were lower in early pregnant women comparing to non-pregnancy women, and higher in middle-late pregnant women. The change of FT3 and FT4 were consistent, and reduced with the extension of pregnancy comparing to non-pregnancy women. Conclusion The level of thyroid function in pregnant women were different from non-pregnant women.and the normal reference range of local pregnant specific thyroid hormone should be established.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#To explore the characters and the relationship among latency response, amplitude and sound stimulus intensity of auditory long latency response(ALR), and to investigate the significance of ALR applied in auditory threshold prediction.@*METHODS@#Total 46 subjects (92 ears) with normal hearing were tested by ALR. The ALR waves of the subjects were elicited by 5 sound stimulus intensity according to the order of 70, 50, 30, 20 and 10 dB nHL. By making N₁ wave and P₂ wave, the values of 3 observed indexes (the latencies of N₁ wave and P₂ wave and N₁-P₂ amplitude) were obtained, and the variation trend of the observed indexes were statistically analyzed. The differences in the frequency of the indexes were observed.@*RESULTS@#The rate of ALR waves from 46 subjects (92 ears) with normal hearing was 100%. The latencies of N₁ wave and P₂ wave delayed gradually and N₁-P₂ amplitude declined with sound stimulus intensity descending.@*CONCLUSIONS@#In suitable conditions, ALR is a stable technology for hearing thresholds prediction. The relation between sound stimulus intensity and latency of N₁ wave, latency of P₂ wave and N₁-P₂ amplitude of ALR plays an important part in auditory thresholds assessment.

ABSTRACT

AlM:To evaluate the applicability and the development of the normal visual acuity from age 3 to 3. 5 years using Lea Symbols and HOTV charts. METHODS:lt was a survey research study. Totally, 133 preschoolers ( 266 eyes ) between 3 to 4. 5 years old recruited from two kid-gardens in Guangzhou were tested with both the Lea Symbols chart and the HOTV chart. Outcome measures were monocular logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution ( logMAR) visual acuity and inter-eye acuity difference in logMAR units for each test. RESULTS: The testability rates of the two charts were high (96. 24% vs 92. 48%, respectively), but difference was not statistically significant (P>0. 05). The difference between the two kind of monocular vision was not statistically significant (the right eye: t=0. 517, P=0. 606;the left eye: t = - 0. 618, P = 0. 538 ). There was no significant difference between different eye ( Lea Symbols chart:t=0. 638, P=0. 525; HOTV chart: t= -0. 897, P=0. 372). The visual acuities of the boys were better than those of the girls, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0. 05). The results which came from visual acuities with the two charts for the corresponding age groups (3-year-old group, 3. 5-year-old group, 4-year-old group, 4. 5-year-old group) indicated that the visual acuities of the preschoolers were improving with increasing age, but the difference among the visual acuities with the Lea Symbols chart was not statistically significant (the right eye:F=2. 662, P=0. 052;the left eye:F=1. 850, P=0. 143). However the difference among the visual acuities with the HOTV chart was statistically significant (the right eye:F=4. 518, P=0. 005;the left eye:F=3. 893, P=0. 011). CONCLUSlON: Both Lea Symbols and HOTV chars are accepted and appropriate for preschool vision screening from 3 to 4. 5 years old. The monocular visual acuity of preschoolers from age 3 to 4. 5 years could be assessed was similar using the two charts. There is no correlation between visual acuity and different eye. There is no statistical difference between the genders. The results further demonstrate that the preschoolers whose age reached three years old have the ability to accept the Subjective vision checks. Also the development of the normal visual acuity is faster in the early stage.

ABSTRACT

This paper aims at clarifying the relationship of physiological heat and pathological heat(fever) using the theoretical scheme of Georges Canguilhem as is argued in his famous book The Normal and the Pathologic. Ancient authors had presented various views on the innate heat and pathological heat. Some argued that there is only pathological heat while others, like Galen, distinguished two different kinds of heat. Galen was the first medial author who had the clear notion of the relationship between the normal heat and the pathological heat. He conceptualized their difference as the heat conforming to nature (kata phusin) and the heat against nature (para phusin). However, the Peripatetic authors, such as ps-Alexander Aphrodisias, who laid more emphasis on physiology tended to regard pathology in continuation with physiology as Claude Bernard attempted to do it. Therefore, Canguilhem's theoretical scheme turns out to be very useful in analysing the relationship of normal heat and pathological heat as is manifested in ancient Greek physiology.

ABSTRACT

This article explored the pathology characteristic of the liver failing to maintain the normal flow of qi.It was considered that syndrome of depression of hepatic qi and reversed syndrome of hepatic qi were the main pathology characteristics of the liver failing to maintain the normal flow of qi,and its origin, development and present situation,as well as its diagnosis evidences and treatment methods and medicine were discussed. It also identified the significance of further standardizing the two syndromes of depression of hepatic qi and reversed of hepatic qi.
