ABSTRACT

Background: Dengue fever is an important tropical disease which is endemic in around 110 countries. It infects 50-100 million people worldwide per year. In India case fatality rate is 1-5% for severe Dengue. Between 2015-2017, 790 deaths have been recorded according to NVBDCP data. Global burden of Dengue has increased at least fourfold over last three decades and now 2.5 billion people at risk of disease. This study aims at determining sterile pyuria as a manifestation in patients presenting with Dengue fever, as patients may present with similar symptoms as that of urinary tract infection, thereby preventing unnecessary use of antibiotics. Methods: It is a Cross sectional observational study conducted on 100 consecutive patients with serologically proven Dengue fever. Patients satisfying inclusion and exclusion criteria underwent relevant investigations and in patients with urine routine showing pyuria, urine culture and sensitivity was done to rule out urinary tract infection and look for sterile pyuria. Results: Among 100 patients of dengue studied, age distribution being 18years to 70years, mean age was 33.27±13.2 years of them 78 were male and 22 were female. 41% patients showed pyuria in urine. 25 % patients were culture positive most common being E. coli and 16% patients had sterile pyuria. Conclusions: Sterile pyuria is not a well-recognized entity in Dengue fever and is often missed. This study shows that sterile pyuria is quite common manifestation in dengue fever which resembles urinary tract infection and therefore does not require any empirical antibiotic treatment.

ABSTRACT

Rhabditis axei is a free-living nematode, which can occasionally invade into humans through drinking and contacting wastewater. It is usually parasitic in the digestive and urinary systems, causing the disease of rhabditelliasis axei. This paper reports a case of R. axei infection found in the urine routine examination.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of the application of Diri urine test workstation(consisting of FUS-200 urine analyzer and H-800 automatic urine analyzer) and microscope in routine urine test. Methods 378 cases of urine samples of patients in Longquan municipal people's hospital were selected randomLy. Urine routine test were carried out by three methods. The main test items were white blood cells (WBC) and red blood cell (RBC), the test results were compared. Results H-800 automatic urine analyzer: the sensitivity of RBC was 94.3%, the specificity was 93.5%, the sensitivity of WBC was 85.4%, the specificity was 99.4%; FUS-200 urine analyzer: the sensitivity of RBC was 85.7%, the specificity was 98.4%, the sensitivity of WBC was 92.7%, the specificity was 99.4%. Conclusion In order to get the most accurate results, we need to make a comprehensive analysis of the three kinds of test methods in order to provide a reliable basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the factors related to the disqualification of urine routine and stool routine, and to formulate corresponding solutions. Methods In April 2014 to April 2017 our collected 600 cases of hospitalized patients, urine and stool samples for routine detection, made clear that cause unqualified samples related factors, and develop effective solution strategy. Results 600 cases in the selected routine urine, excrement and urine routine test specimens, the unqualified samples of total 110 cases, fraction defective is 18.33%, 490 qualified samples, percent of pass is 81.67%, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).There are a number of factors that cause the sample to fail, such as the contamination of the sample, the length of storage, the operation and the preparation. Conclusion In the process of actual diagnosis of disease, clinical result in urine, feces routine test specimen unqualified often appear, the reason is to a great extent, and the related nursing staff in urine and stool samples of patients before the lack of relevant guidance and so on, and nursing staff after the complete collection of specimens does not usually in accordance with the relevant standard of serious check, to avoid the sample inspection is unqualified, hospitals need to develop scientific inspection process, nurses in practice need to strict adherence to the process, and through intensive training, promote nursing staff awareness test, can to improve the qualification rate of sample test provide strong guarantee.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the relationship between urine routine and urinary sediment in urine test. Methods 80 cases of patients accepted urine test in our hospital from May 2014 to May 2016 were selected, these patients were divided into urine routine group (n=40) and urinary sediment group (n=40) two groups according to the detection methods, the sampling collected time, obtained time, Resultstime, urine protein, white blood cells, red blood cells, crystallization, tube type test results of the two groups were statistically analyzed.ResultsThe differences of sampling collected time, obtained time, results time between the two groups were not significant;the detection positive rates of urinary protein, white blood cells, red blood cells, crystallization, tube type of the urine routine group were 15%, 20%, 22.5%, 27.5%, 25%, respectively, the urine sediment group were 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 27.5%, respectively. The differences of detection positive rates of urinary protein, white blood cells, red blood cells, crystallization, tube type between the two groups were not significant;the detection positive coincidence rates of urinary protein, white blood cells, red blood cells, crystallization, tube type of the two groups were 15%, 17.5%, 22.5%, 25% 22.5%, respectively, the negative coincidence rates were 82.5%, 77.5%, 72.5%, 72.5%, 70%, respectively, the total detection rates were 97.5%, 95%, 95%, 97.5%, 92.5%, respectively. Conclusion Combined detection of urine routine and urinary sediment in urine test can significantly improve detection accuracy.
