ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 outbreak has drawn attention to viral infectious diseases once again, and the development of antiviral drugs for both known and potentially emerging viruses is of great significance. In recent years, peptides and protein drugs are becoming a hot spot in the field of antiviral drug research and development. Phage display technology, as a powerful tool for screening peptides and protein drugs, has been increasingly concerned in the academic and industrial fields. The present review introduced the basic principle of phage display technology, summarized phage display libraries often used in antiviral drug discovery and their applications, discussed the challenges and future direction of antiviral drug research and development based on phage display technology.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT It has been two years since the appearance of SARS-CoV-2, coronavirus which has spread rapidly throughout the world, causing more than 270 million infected people and more than 5 million deaths. This coronavirus has had many variants and mutations, which is its way of getting into humans more easily and producing COVID-19 disease. The result has been a trail of infections and deaths, with lethality around 1%, and has affected the way of life, work, education, the economy of the countries, increased poverty and violence, among others. We still do not have a cure for the disease, but vaccines have reduced the number of severely infected people and deaths. And antiviral drugs are emerging that could prevent severity and death from COVID-19, if used at the onset of infection. In this article we include some of the news and outcomes occurred in the last trimester and what it has meant for women's and pregnant women's health.

ABSTRACT

Viral infection is the main death cause of infectious diseases in China. The establishment of an animal model to mimic the progression of viral infectious diseases in humans is of great significance to the study of pathogenesis and prevention of viral infectious diseases. As a new animal model established and developed in recent years, tree shrew has showed obvious advantages and potentials compared with other non-human primates and mice which are commonly used as virus-infected animal models. In this paper, the biological advantages of tree shrew as a novel animal model of viral infectious diseases are summarized, including taxonomy, physiology and immunology. In addition, the latest application of tree shrew in the research of many viral infectious diseases such as hepatitis virus, herpes simplex virus, influenza virus and enterovirus infections are compared and summarized.

ABSTRACT

GRP78/Bip,which was first identified by scientists in 1977,is a major endoplasmic reticulum (ER)chaperone that has a variety of function. In tumor tissue,GRP78 is high expression and ectopic expression;participate in the development of tumor,ER-stress state and ectopic distribution on the cell surface,in the form of receptors involved in signal transduction. Therefore,GRP78 as an tumor therapeutic targets, biomarkers of tumor and prognosis of tumor biological markers, plays an important role in the tumor research. In recent years, domestic and foreign scholars have found that in the non-cancer disease (viral infectious disease cardiovascular disease diabetes neurodegenerative disease etc),GRP78 is high expression, indicate its application prospect. This article makes a brief overview on the molecular biological characteristics of GRP78,role in tumor pathogenesis and therapeutic significance and application prospect in non-tumor disease.
