ABSTRACT

(AU)

In the present work, we analyze the narratives centered on the revelation of sexual identity as retold by an individual who says he´s "gay" in order to present his preconscious thoughts as well as the wishes and defenses that stand out in these narrations. In the results, the predominant languages detected are the urethral phallic and the secondary oral. The initial scenes are staged in his preadolescent stage. One of the recollections is central in that it makes it possible to demonstrate the correlation between the sexual arousal process and the constitution of the preconscious. In the study of defenses, the failure of repression stands out as well as how it takes on a pathogenic nuance, sustained in secondary defenses, such as disavowal and conversion to the contrary. To conclude, the results are articulated with the theory, to show how the children's narrations are present insofar as unconscious phantasies are not processed. (AU)

ABSTRACT

We examined social class (measured by attendance in public or private schools), gender, and age-related variations in the expression of wishes and gratitude of 430 7- to 14-year-olds (181 male, 62.1% from public schools). Chi-square analysis indicated that students from private schools expressed significantly more social-oriented wishes and connective gratitude, whereas those from public schools expressed significantly more self-oriented wishes. Girls in the public schools expressed significantly more self-oriented wishes and verbal gratitude than did boys. Regression analysis (curve estimation) indicated that verbal gratitude, self- and social oriented wishes increased and concrete gratitude decreased significantly with age, but connective gratitude tended to increase. These findings support the idea that gratitude and wish types involve the development of cognitive aspects, such as taking others into account and thinking about the future, but it is also influenced by the social contexts in which children live, such as their social class.

A gratidão conectiva tendeu a aumentar.

ABSTRACT

General objectives of the study 1. Present a complementary approach to the interpretation of the Rorschach signs 2. Expand the scope of the traditional interpretation of the Argentine Rorschach School, including a detailed description of the seven wishes, defenses and states, basic concepts of the David Liberman Algorithm (DLA) 3. Provide an alternative operationalization the DLA concepts, by means of a complementary interpretation of the Rorschach. Specific objectives 1. Carry out the procedures and analysis of a full Rorschach protocol, from the standpoint of the traditional approach of the Argentine School of Rorschach Psychodiagnosis. 2. Obtain a diagnosis with the traditional approach of the Argentine School. 3. Operationalize the seven wishes, defenses and states, through the Rorschach semiology, based on location, determinant, content, frequency and special phenomena that appear in the answers of the respondent, in order to expand the scope of the traditional interpretation. 4. Obtain a diagnosis from this complementary approach. 5. Compare both diagnoses, in order to verify the degree of convergence between the two. Sample: 10 responses to the Rorschach test of an adult male, 28 years old. Instrument: Rorschach test. Results and conclusions From the traditional perspective point of view, the analysis of the ego functions of reality allowed to infer the predominance of the psychotic current, since reality testing was the function most implicated, followed by perception of reality, and finally, by adjustment, which was the most preserved of the three functions, allowing the individual some degree of adaptation to reality, avoiding massive, total psychotic decomposition. From the standpoint of the complementary Rorschach approach, taking the theoretical concepts of the DLA to interpret its signs, the prevalence of the psychotic current was also noted, as well as that of the toxic current. The results show that the proposed approach for this study can be considered an important complement to the traditional interpretation, since it allows to obtain a similar diagnosis while adding greater specificity concerning wishes, defenses, and states, and supplying the toxic current, of vital importance in clinical work nowadays. It should be noted, that the present study is a pilot study, and therefore its results must be validated in subsequent research with a greater number of cases.

ABSTRACT

Based on two of Frida Kahlo’s letters (27 March 1927-29 July 1932), the manifest wishes and their relationship to the vital period of the artist will be analyzed, by referring to the work of art in the same historical period (Self-portrait in velvet clothes, September 1926, and My birth or Birth, 1932). The methodological instrument usedis the Computerized Dictionary and the grids designed for the analysis of speechacts, applied in selected texts. The expected outcome is the detection of the dominant wishes irrespective of the prejudices that could stem from the biography of the artist in its artistic manifestations and letters.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Objectives: To analyze the discourse of two cancer patients by detecting wishes and dominant defenses. Sample: fragments of clinical interviews of two patients at least two years aftercompletion of their cancer treatment.Method: the David Liberman algorithm (ADL), which allows detection of drives and defenses, as well as their state, in narrated episodes, speech acts and word networks. Procedures: (1) selection and analysis of narrations corresponding to the period inwhich the illness is presumed to have begun, (2) analysis of speech acts associated with these narrations, (3) application of the computerized dictionary to the analysis of the narrations, (4) comparison of the results at the different levels. Regardingissue (3), the manual approach was privileged -which, among other aspects, enables discourse analysis with the addition of words considered pertinent and that were not detected by the dictionary- in place of the automatic one, since the extension of thesample was short. Results: the analysis of the sample with the DLA instruments allows the detection of a combination of several drives and defenses, which have different relevance in themost important fragments of the interviews. While on the narration level both patients coincided in the dominance of pathogenic regressive psychic processes, on the level of words this wasn´t the case since on that level the results of both individuals weredivergent. These divergences consisted in that for one of them - on the level of the words- languages inherent to more developed psychic processes were detected, and for the other individual those evolved psychic processes were combined with quite more regressive ego functions. It´s possible to assume that, if for the first individual these pathogenic psychic processes were mitigated more neurotic ego functions would appear while in the second patient, on the other hand, new pathological psychic processes that currently have a secondary character would surface.
