ABSTRACT

Objective@#The present study was designed to evaluate the clinical significance of serum GP73 in patients with alcohol liver disease.@*Methods@#Thirty-two patients with alcoholic liver disease (ALD), 40 patients with non-alcohol fatty liver disease(NFLAD), and 40 apparently healthy individuals were included in this study.@*Results@#Compared with Those of healthy control population(43.91±19.02 ng/ml), the serum GP73 levels in ALD patients(93.39±66.91 ng/ml) were significantly increased, and also markedly higher than those of NFLAD patients (55.38±21.00 ng/ml). Taken the NFALD as"healthy controls" population, and ALD population as"patients" , the GP73 may be used to differentiate the ALD from NFLAD. The area of ROC analysis was 0.66(95%CI: 0.52~0.80, P=0.02). We set 75.65 ng/ml as the cut-off value for ALD diagnosis, the sensitivity and specificity were 50.0% and 85.0% respectively.@*Conclusion@#Serum GP73 levels in ALD patients were significantly higher than those of NFALD patients. GP73 may be a new marker for differentiating ALD from NFALD.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonic intravenous imaging and cholangiography in the diagnosis of malignant jaundice obstructive. Methods Forty three patients who were diagnosed with malignant obstructive jaundice by contrast-enhanced computed tomography and contrast-enhanced computed magnetic resonance imaging were enrolled in this study. All of them underwent conventional ultrasound, IV-CEUS and IC-CEUS. According to the results of operation, the diagnosis accuracies were compared among conventional ultrasound, IV-CEUS, IC-CEUS and IV- CEUS combined with IC-CEUS. Results Diagnostic accuracy by the conventional ultrasound , IV-CEUS , IC-CEUS and IV- CEUS combined with IC-CEUS were 72.1%(31/43), 83.7%(36/43), 81.4%(35/43) and 93.0%(40/43), respectively. IV- CEUS combined with IC-CEUS was superior to the conventional ultrasound (P = 0.021). There were no significant differences when the conventional ultrasound was compared with IV-CEUS or IC-CEUS alone (P = 0.194 and 0.307). Conclusions Preoperative evaluation by IV- CEUS combined with IC-CEUS can elaborate the intra-cavitary and extra-cavitary changes of malignant obstructive jaundice. The diagnostic accuracy rate could be effectively improved by IV-CEUS combined with IC-CEUS, which can bring favorable clinical benefit.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the clinical and MR imaging features of patients with Joubert syndrome to improve the understanding of this disorder and the diagnosis accuracy. Methods A retrospective study of clinical and MR imaging data was performed in 3 pediatric patients had definite diagnosis of Joubert syndrome; and a comprehensive review of literature was presented. Results All 3 patients showed typical manifestations of complex brainstem malformations on MR imaging which comprised the "molar tooth sign" on midbrain level,"thin median cleft" separating cerebellar hemispheres and "bat wing" appearance of the fourth ventricle due to the cerebellar vermis hypoplasia.Clinically, hypotonia, intermittent irregular breathing pattern (with apnea in 1 patient) and developmental delay/mental retardation in infancy in all 3 patients and abnormal eye movements (episodic deviation to lateral extremes of gaze) in 1 patient were noted. Conclusion Joubert syndrome is characterized on MR imaging, but clinical data is necessary for an exact diagnosis; differentiation should be made with the other disorders due to the hypoplasia of cerebellar vermis.

ABSTRACT

ELISpot assay has been widely used in basic and clinical research with its unique advantages. ELISpot is highly efficient in epitope screening, quantification of the epitope specific T cells, determining the TCR affinity and evaluating vaccine efficacy. In addition, ELISpot has been increasingly employed in diagnosis, differentiating diagnosis, evaluating patients' immune state, treatment efficacy, and evaluation of the prognosis. Overall, with the further improvement of this assay, ELISpot will play a critical role in the development of human health.
