ABSTRACT

Resumos This article aims to discuss Melanie Klein's seminal text, "Envy and gratitude" (1957), in order to articulate it with the phenomena of hope, hopelessness, creativity, and destructiveness. In ours readings, we observed that envy is a fertile soil for the growth of hopelessness and destructiveness. While the ability to have gratitude can lead an individual to be hopeful and have a creative life. Would the opposite be possible? To be envious and at the same time creative and hopeful? Based on Freudian Dualism drive, which Klein did not give up in the construction of her metapsychology, we answer yes, primarily from the introjection of the good object, which allows the elaboration of envy, an element that we will emphasize from the figure of the analyst in the clinical process. To elucidate each of these elements, we will use the short story "The foreign legion" by Clarice Lispector (1999) as a guiding thread throughout the text.

ABSTRACT

This narrative review addresses the complex relationship between neurological diseases and artistic expression, which can have a profound impact on a painter´s works. This exploration highlights the dynamic and ever-evolving connection between neuroscience and art, offering insights into the extraordinary ways in which the human brain and artistic expression intersect and evolve. Following brain damage, there may be the emergence of sudden artistic talents, intriguing changes in the styles of established artists, the paradoxical facilitation of artistic abilities despite the cognitive decline consequent to these injuries, besides coping strategies that artists adopt in response to the challenges of health. Therefore, this article investigates different scenarios where brain injuries and disorders have had a profound impact on artists, leading to the emergence of new talents, changes in artistic styles, and unexpected improvements in their work, as well as adaptations in their artistic practices, as represented by some painters such as Tommy McHugh (1949 -2012), Francisco Goya (1746-1828), Otto Dix (1891-1969), Willem de Kooning (1904-1997), William Charles Utermohlen (1933-2007) and Charles Meryon (1821-1868). Consequently, works of art can be valuable but understudied tools for understanding brain dysfunction, although they must be interpreted with great care.

ABSTRACT

Background: High-ability students require effective educational strategies. This study introduces and evaluates a curriculum enrichment programme aimed at enhancing cre ativity. The programme is based on a competency framework and was implemented using variations of Project-Based Learning (PBL) strategies. Method: A quasi-experimental design compared two interventions using pre-test and post-test groups. The first intervention (N = 38) involved a 12-week PBL unit focused on designing a video game using block-based program ming through Scratch. The second intervention (N = 51), also lasting 12 weeks, comprised three separate projects involving vectorial design and programming of an Arduino-based ro bot. Both interventions used strategies for creative-thinking development. The sample includ ed high-ability students from 8 to 12 years of age. Results: Both interventions significantly increased creativity, with no statistical differences between them. This suggests that both types of PBL interventions effectively improved participants' creativity. Conclusions: This study suggests that PBL-based curricular enrichment programmes are effective in fostering creativity among high-ability students.

ABSTRACT

Creative Self-Efficacy (CSE) and Creative Personal Identity (CPI) are creative self-beliefs which act as creative achievement predictors in different contexts, including school. Brazilian theoretical studies suggest that characteristics of military school can inhibit creative expression. The question is raised whether the school environment can influence CSE and CPI. Therefore, the goal was to compare male and female students from military and civilian schools, in terms of CSE and IPC, in addition to verifying the interaction between the variables. Participants were 230 secondary school students, with a mean age of 16.07 years (SD = .92). The Short Scale of Creative Self (SSCS) and a sociodemographic questionnaire were used. No significant differences or interactions were observed, except for the higher IPC in women when compared to men. Thus, it is possible that the typical restrictions of the military model of education do not necessarily imply barriers to creativity.(AU)

ABSTRACT

Abstract This article presents a state of the art that integrates the review of fifty articles of the results of studies that, in the last decade, investigated creativity in relation to the identity and subjectivity of children, adolescents and young people living with chronic diseases .The document is part of a doctoral research that aims to identify the transformations that creativity undergoes in relation to the development of identity and subjectivity of children living with chronic diseases, such as HIV/AIDS, cancer and diabetes, given that these are the diseases that Sontag (2008) relates as the diseases that cause the greatest social and economic impacts and that modify the life project of people in the long term. From the methodological point of view, bibliometric data constructed from specialized databases such as PubMed, APA, Science Direct, Proquest, Redalyc, Scielo and Scopus were approached; subsequently a critical interpretive analysis of these investigations was carried out from a qualitative perspective. The results show that the use of art as a therapeutic strategy facilitates coping with the disease; however, relevant effects are also evident in the family and relational system of those who live with these diseases. It is also found that a large part of the research, as suggested by Sontag (2008), assumes diseases as an enemy, making use of the language of war, in addition to locating whoever experiences the disease as a battle hero or as a survivor when it is possible to go through the disease in a satisfactory way, however, it is also evident that this position implies a struggle of the subject with himself. Also, some of the authors state that the disease facilitates the recognition of abilities, tastes and skills of which one was not aware before experiencing it. Through these investigations, the understanding of the importance of relationships with peers as a key aspect for the development of self-regulation is broadened, which facilitates self-care practices far from victimization and family overprotection. Creativity has been understood mainly from artistic exercises, art-therapy and the use of some resources such as painting, drawing, music and dance for the approach to the subject who lives with chronic diseases, from the research exercises themselves, but also from an attempt to allow the subject to establish diverse communications with his context and to establish communication bridges with himself and with his new life circumstances. However, this perspective leaves aside the proposal of Lavie, Narayan and Rosaldo (1993), who argue that creativity is the human capacity to respond to daily circumstances in different ways, which allows expanding the field of action of what creative, facilitating that it is linked to the daily lives of the subjects and other ways of displaying creativity are explored, from relationships, from the practices of self-recognition and self-care regarding the same disease. It is also found that chronic diseases are related to metaphors that force the subject who experiences them to assume the role of warrior, war hero or war victim; these postures assume burdens for the subject and, although in some cases they help to assume the disease with a spirit of improvement, they also increase responsibility, guilt and difficulties in cases in which the disease is not overcome.

ABSTRACT

Background: One of the major challenges for pharmacology teachers is how to capture students’ interests and engage them in the subject, to create an engaging and enjoyable learning process. “Creative study guide posters” is one such novel educational tool that can help achieve these goals. Aims and Objectives: The authors tried to recreate visual artwork in the subject of pharmacology to engage students and at the same time make learning easy and fun-filled. Materials and Methods: In this study, 2nd year medical students participated and prepared creative study guide posters on antimicrobials and microbes in the form of two armies. On the one hand, antimicrobial drugs depicted the good army, consisting of the name of the drug, drug group, and mechanism of action, while on the other hand, the microorganisms depicted the evil army, consisting of the names of the common microbes, representing the battle of Kurukshetra as in the Indian epic of Mahabharata. Results: The majority of the students found this model interesting and useful for revising antimicrobials. About 82.3% of students agreed that their concepts of antimicrobials improved after this activity. About 86.46% of students believed that this model would foster interactive learning. Only 65.63% of students felt that the traditional methods of revising topics were better than this activity. Conclusion: Creative instruction encourages students to think independently, paricipate actively, and express themselves freely. Creative study guide poster activities help with better student engagement, reinforcing concepts, and better retention than just passing information passively in classrooms.

ABSTRACT

In the new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way, China is gradually entering the ranks of innovative countries. The national emphasis on scientific and technological innovation and transformation and the policy guidance have inspired the unprecedented enthusiasm and confidence of Chinese orthopaedic surgeons for innovation and transformation. After decades of unremitting efforts of orthopaedics predecessors, Chinese orthopaedics, as the new force of scientific and technological innovation, has been developing towards the direction of digitalization, personalized, minimally invasive, precise and intelligent, but some problems have also been exposed. We should strengthen the main position of independent innovation of orthopedics new technology, materials and instruments, implement the strategy of combining "import" with China's specific national conditions, and use Chinese and western, strive to solve the problem of transformation of scientific research results, accelerate the process of localization replacement, so that the innovation transformation results in the land of China.

ABSTRACT

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Midwifery services are a cornerstone of maternal care but the trait creativity of midwifery students is unclear. The aim of this study was to assess trait creativity among midwives in Taizhou, China. METHODS: A cross-sectional online survey among midwives was conducted from July 20 to August 10, 2022. Trait creativity was assessed using the Williams Creativity Assessment Packet. RESULTS: A total of 300 survey respondents were studied. The mean scores for the imagination dimension (p=0.032) and the risk-taking dimension (p=0.049) differed across major groups. We further compared the scores of trait creativity dimensions after excluding male participants. Midwifery students only scored lower on the specific imagination dimension (p=0.024). CONCLUSION: The imagination level of midwifery students certainly deserves further attention. Education workers should pay more attention to the imagination of midwifery students.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT The study starts from the following issue question: does the reconnection between people and their uterine organ ease self-knowledge and the development of spontaneity-creativity? This problem requires the comprehension of what moment of Western history, the uterus became a locus of disease and prejudice; and, from a social-psychodramatic analysis, understanding the consequences of this hegemonic narrative in the Brazilian current political-cultural reality. For being historical sorrows that block our spontaneity-creativity, we name it of colonial conservatism. This is qualitative and psychodramatic research, with the study of cases presenting the suffering of consultants caused by the disconnection with their uterine organ. We used a specific approach, called uterodrama, which facilitated the development of consultants' spontaneity and creativity as they experienced the reapproximation with their uterus.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to test the predictive power of socioemotional competences (SEC) in the following contextual performance facets of elementary school teacher: the classroom climate for creativity and teacher-student relationship. Ninety public school teachers from a capital city in the northeast of Brazil participated in this study, who taught from the 4th to the 9th grade of elementary school. The study also included the participation of three students from each teacher. Teachers answered about their SECs and their relationship with students who, in turn, answered about the classroom climate for creativity. Simple linear regression analyzes were performed. The results indicated that SECs are only predictors of the teacher-student relationship. It is concluded that SECs promotes the creation of positive personal interactions, favorable to affective expression in the classroom, while they are not sufficient to explain the classroom climate for creativity

ABSTRACT

This is a quantitative correlational study aiming to test a model in which Well-Being at Work (WBW) is explained by the Favorable and Unfavorable Conditions for Creativity in the Work Environment of psychologists who work in the Specialized Reference Centers for Social Assistance in Minas Gerais (CREAS-MG). After approval by the Ethics Committee, contacts of the centers were located via public digital file. The invitation was sent by e-mail with the link to access the Informed Consent Form; Questionnaire with Demographic and Functional Data; Workplace Well-Being Scale; and Indicators of Conditions for Creating in the Workplace. The WBW measures Positive Affection, Negative Affection, and Personal and Professional Fulfillment; alongside six Favorable Conditions and three Unfavorable Conditions for Creativity at Work. Multidimensional scales provide evidence of validity and a five-point Likert response. Data were analyzed based on descriptive and inferential statistics, standard multiple regression to test the model and Cronbach's Alpha to verify the reliability of the scales. The convenience sample consisted of 145 psychologists, mostly women (n=125), with lato sensu post-graduation (n=102), and statutory employment (n=74). The highest means are Personal and Professional Fullfilment (M=3.47; SD=0.65), Challenging Activities (M=3.50; SD=0.68), and Excessive Services and Shortage of Time (M=3.51; SD=0.85). The results indicate that the Conditions for Creativity at Work significantly contribute to the three dimensions of WBW and demonstrate the importance of promoting a context conducive to creativity and well-being of workers.(AU)
