ABSTRACT
Objective:To explore the hope level and influencing factors of infertile patients with first or repeated in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET).Methods:Female patients receiving IVF-ET treatment during January to June, 2019 in reproductive Medicine Center, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of medicine, were enrolled in this study. All patients were divided into first and repeated cycles (≥2 cycles), then a questionnaire survey was conducted. The questionnaire included demographic information, Herth hope index (HHI) scale, Locke-Wallace short marital-adjustment test scale and social support rating scale. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the associated influencing factors of hope level. Results:A total of 251 IVF-ET patients were recruited in the study, including 142 (56.6%) in the first cycle and 109 (43.4%) in the repeated cycle. The HHI score of the repeated cycle was significantly lower than that of the first cycle [(32.0±3.3) vs (36.0±3.1) points] ( P<0.001). Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that repeated IVF-ET was independently negatively correlated with HHI, with a standardized coefficient β of -0.406 ( P<0.001). While living in a city ( P=0.013), high monthly income ( P=0.026), high degree short marital-adjustment test ( P=0.006) and social support rating ( P=0.002) were independently positively correlated with HHI. Conclusions:Repeated IVF-ET treatment patients have a significantly lower HHI score. The residence, monthly income, marital-adjustment, and social support are significantly associated with hope level.

ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the effect of advance directives on hope level and coping style in cancer patients. Methods A total of 168 cancerous person were selected as the research sample according to conveniences sampling. They were divided into two groups according to whether they were set up or not advance directives. A total of 88 patients without advance directives (control group) was given full rescue, and a total of 80 patients (experimental group) was given medical care according to the patient's prior wishes. The scores of the Cancer Hope Scale and the Medical Coping Questionnaire were compared between the two groups. Results The score of the Cancer Hope Scale was (24.83 ± 2.59) points in experimental group, (30.09±3.36) points in control group. The score of the Medical Coping Questionnaire was (41.21±2.65) points in experimental group, (35.85±2.63) points in control group. There was significant difference between the two groups (t=11.861, 17.817, P <0.01). Conclusions There are many mental health problems in cancer patients. Patients with advance directives can face the disease with a more positive attitude.
ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate the status quo of hope level as well as the relationship between the hope level and social support in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). Method A total of 120 CHF patients were surveyed by Herth hope index (HHI) and social support rating scale (SSRS). Results The overall HHI score and SSRS were (30.2±4.2) and (38.4±6.2), respectively. Both were at a medium level. The general score of HHI was positively related to general SSRS (r=0.527, P<0.01). Conclusions Both of HHI and SSRS of patients with CHF are at moderate level. The patients with higher level of social support have better hope level. Nurses should take pertinent interventions to improve the social support of CHF, helping them to improve their hope and respond to diseases effectively.

Methods 201 primary caregivers of terminal cancer patients were selected from May to September in 2016. HHI, NEO-FFI and ZBI were used to investigate the participants. Results The hope of the participants were all in moderate to high levels. The level of hope of the participants was significantly positively correlated with the scores of extraversion and conscientiousness(r =0.165, 0.235, P<0.05). It was significantly negatively correlated with neuroticism, openness, agreeableness and burden care, r =-0.258--0.179, P<0.05. Conclusions The medical staff should give interventions timely according to the personality characteristics and care burden of the main caregivers of patients with advanced cancer, so that the level of hope could be improved in order to improve their psychological health.
