ABSTRACT

Objective To design a measuring system for operative gestures used for the crew in armored vehicles. Methods The MEMS sensor was used to collect gesture parameters of important parts of four crew members, such as the head, neck, trunk, arms, legs. The infrared tracking auxiliary measurement was used to calibrate the gesture parameters of arms of drivers. The wireless transceiver was used to transmit data to the control unit for preprocessing and then send the data to the collector for storage, before being transmitted to the back-end computers.A software system was used to process and display the body posture parameters. Results and Conclusion The system can mesure the operative gestures of the crew and provide means by which to analyze the kinematics for the crew in armored vehicles.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the precision, trueness, and accuracy of self-developed detection system in clinical chemistry. Methods This was a methodological evaluation.Take serum creatine kinase( CK) for instance, 6 serum sampleswith different leves ( on the upper or lower limit of the reference range or close to the medicine decide levels ( MDLs) , were collected for within-run precision( repeatability) and within-laboratory precision ( intermediate precision ) experiments.5 proficiency testing ( PT ) samples, 5 samples assigned value by reference method, and 40 fresh-frozen serums were measured and compared with reference method for trueness verification.Drawing method evaluation decision chart, calculating total errors and sigma level evaluation experiment based on the CV, bias, and allowed total errors(TEa)were used to evaluate the accuracy performance. The precision, trueness, and accuracy were compared with the quality indicators. Results The within-run precision and within-laboratory precision were less than the highest requirement of Chinese industrial standard. The mean bias was -8.96%, didn′t reachthe required standard (5.5%).After taking corrective actions, all samples but one ( -5.8%) met the required standard. Compared with the reference method, the mean bias on the MDLs was less than TEa.The performance points of the method evaluation decision chart indicated excellence performance. The total errors on MDLs were 14.2%, 10.4% and 7.6%, less than 15%.The sigma levels on MDLs were 5.9, 7.5 and 15, also achieved excellent level. Conclusions The precision, trueness, and accuracy performance of CK measured by self-developed detection system achieved excellent level of the Chinese industry standard, and the same results were found from different evaluation methods.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the topography of the anterior surface of the human crystalline lens. ·METHODS: A Non-contact three-coodinate measuring system was utilized to scan the anterior surfaces of 8 human eye lenses in vitro. Acquired data were processed and computer models of the anterior lens surfaces were made using the program (Surfacer v 10.0). The to-pography of the anterior lens surfaces were established. Radii of curvature were measured at preset spots over the lens surfaces and two way analysis of variance was performed. The data were analysed to determine whether the radius of curvature varied systematically with the position on the lens surface from which the measurement was made. Lens surface asymmetric index (LSAI) was defined and calculated. The vertical and horizontal meridians of the modeled lens were calculated, and the best curve fit to any conic section was determined. ·RESULTS: The topography of the anterior lens surface indicated that the central zone (the central radius of curvature is (9.09±0.80)mm was steeper than that of the peripheral zone(17.05±2.20)mm. Two way analysis of variance of the radii of curvature at preset spots over the lens surfaces showed that the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Curve regression of radii of curvature at preset spots and their distances to the surface center revealed that the correlation of them was the third power function. LSAI increased steadily from the lens surface center(0.013±0.005) to the periphery(0.184± 0.065). The dots on the horizontal and vertical meridians were fit to four kinds of curves, and the determinate coefficient of hyperbola fit were the largest (0.9989-0.9999). ·CONCLUSION: The anterior lens surface is imperfectly rotational symmetric. Moreover, the nearer to the center, the more rotational symmetric it is. Radii of curvature increase nonlinearly from the surface center to the periphery. Anterior lens surface is typically hyperbolic.

ABSTRACT

In order to examine the effectiveness of Kami-kihi-to for changing bone mass, we measured for osteopenia in ovariectomized (OV) rats using two methods: computed X-ray absorptiometry and a metabolism measuring system.
Materials and methods: 24 female Wistar rats (8 weeks old, 160-180g) were divided into three groups. Group one and group two Wistar rats were OV rats in which systemic osteoporosis was induced. After that group one (OVX [Kampo]) was administered Kami-kihi-to (500mg/kg) for 6 months. Group two (OVX [CTL]) was administered only water. Group three (NR) was untreated as the control. In each group, bone mineral density was measured before starting treatment and after 1, 3, and 6 months of treatment, and locomotor activity was determined before starting treatment and after 6 months of treatment.
Result: Bone mineral density showed little change over 6 months in the NR group. However, it was significantly lower in the OVX (CTL) group than in the NR group 3 months after ovariectomy. But in the OVX (Kampo) group, its decrease was obviously inhibited after 6 months of treatment compared with the OVX (CTL) group.
Moreover, in the NR group, the pattern of activity was regular. In the OVX groups, there was no clear difference between the active and resting phases and the pattern of activity was irregular. In the OVX (Kampo) group, the pattern of activity became diphasic, with clear active and resting phases as was observed in the NR group.
Conclusion: These results demonstrated that the pattern of regular activity affected increase of bone mass secondary due to the administration Kami-kihi-to.

ABSTRACT

For developing Digital Image Expert System in rhinoplasty, the accurate and reliable Digital Image Measuring System must be first set up, and the data from the Digital Image Measuring System must be reliable with the data measured by hand. The measuring system mainly consists of a computer with an image processing board, a TV camera and a head fixing device. Ten adults were selected randomly and some indexes of head and face were measured with the measuring system and by hand respectively. The reliability of the measuring system was confirmed by the statistical analysis of data measured. Finally, the results were also discussed.
