ABSTRACT

Deacidification of lampante olive oil by anion exchange resin and aluminum oxide was investigated. The experimental results proved that it is feasible to obtain a refined olive oil with free fatty acids less than 0.3% using anion exchange column. Efficiency of anion exchange resin as a deacidification material was 4 times as that of the aluminum oxide. Peroxides of the investigated olive oil were decomposed by heat treatment of the deacidified oil in presence of a stream of N[2]. K[232], K[270] and delta-K of the refined olive oil were 2.37,0.89 and 0.02, respectively. The results revealed that the untreated olive oil and the oil constituents that retained on the resin exhibited an efficient cytotoxicity against breast carcinoma cell line [MCF7] with IC[50] values of 61.1 and 70.5 micro g, respectively, while deacidified oil did not maintain this property

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo develop a with high efficiency and practicality for separating and purifying total steroidal saponins lax china.

METHODUsing adsorption capacity and desorption rate of total steroidal saponins as the primary screening index, surveyed, and the optimized conditions of adsorption and desorption of total steroidal saponins were studied.

RESULTThe adsorption and desorption rate of total steroidal saponins reached 16 mg x mL(-1) and 90% respectively for macroporous resin HPD100 chosen. Macroporous resin HPD100 could be well used in separating and purifying total steroidal saponins from S. china.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Diarrhea is a common complication of antibiotics usage. The diarrhea ascribed to antibiotics usually consist of loose or watery stools, sometimes containing mucus but rarely grossly evident blood. Almost every antibiotics has been implicated, although cases related to the use of vancomycin or aminoglycosides are rare. Although the pathogenesis of antibiotics-associated diarrhea is not confirmed, recent studies have shown that a toxin of clostridium difficile is implicated as a cause of it. Diagnosis is made by detecting toxin in the stool or stool culture for C.difficile. Treatment is either directed at binding the toxin with anion exchange resins such as cholestyramine in mild case, or at eradicating the C.difficile organism with vancomycin, metronidazole or bacitracin for more severe cases.
