ABSTRACT
The susceptibility of Dirofilaria repens infection in Aedes aegypti adults reared in hay-infusion and tap-water during their larval stages was tested. Ae. aegypti reared in hay-infusion ingested a bigger amount of blood than those reared in tap-water but harboured fewer D. repens larvae (developing and arrested). The difference in the susceptibility of mosquitoes from the two treatments was correlated with the difference in the robustness of the mosquitoes.
