ABSTRACT
Cochrane es una colaboración internacional cuya misión es promover la toma de decisiones sobre salud basada en la evidencia, mediante la realización de revisiones sistemáticas de alta calidad, relevantes y accesibles; así como a través de otros formatos en los cuales se resumen las evidencias científicas que se generan a partir de la ejecución de las revisiones sistemáticas Cochrane. La transferencia del conocimiento (Knowledge translation) promueve el uso real del conocimiento científico y Cochrane ha impulsado diversos proyectos con esta temática. Uno de ellos consiste en un convenio con Wikipedia para la mejora de la calidad de los artículos relacionados con la salud que se encuentran en esta enciclopedia digital. En este artículo se resumen las características principales de estas iniciativas.
Cochrane is an international collaboration whose mission is to promote evidence-based decision-making on health. This is done by conducting high-quality, relevant and accessible systematic reviews, as well as through other forms of summarized scientific evidence. Knowledge translation promotes the real use of scientific knowledge and Cochrane has been developing various projects within this theme. One of those projects includes a collaboration with Wikipedia to improve the quality of information provided in the medical articles published in this digital encyclopaedia. This article summarizes the main characteristics of these initiatives.

Sabe-se que a Wikipédia é um sistema colaborativo do qual múltiplos agentes podem participar escrevendo ou editando verbetes. Não obstante, embora os princípios da enciclopédia defendam a neutralidade das informações ali publicadas, são comuns as denúncias de alterações realizadas com a finalidade de beneficiar ou prejudicar atores políticos. O objetivo deste artigo é examinar a dinâmica de edições dos verbetes relativos aos três principais candidatos que disputaram a Prefeitura de São Paulo em 2012: Celso Russomanno, Fernando Haddad e José Serra. Considera-se o intervalo entre 2008 e 2012 como referência para explorar, entre outras variáveis, os índices de page views e as tendências das edições ao longo do tempo. Concluiu-seque o acirramento da disputa, característico do período eleitoral, influencia a quantidade de acesso a tais verbetes, de modificações neles efetuadas, e a natureza da interação entre os colaboradores cadastrados...
Wikipedia is a collaborative system in which multiple agents can participate by writing or editing articles. Nevertheless, although the encyclopedias principles defend the neutrality of the information available init, the changes made in order to benefit or to harm political actors reputation are usual. This article has asmain objective to understand how during the campaign to elect the mayor of São Paulo city in 2012 users have accessed articles related to the three leading candidates Russomanno, Haddad and Serra andhave edited them. We consider the period from 2008 to 2012 as a reference to explore variables such asthe page view indices and the number of editions provided by frequent users. Se sabe que la Wikipedia es un sistema colaborativo, del cual múltiples agentes pueden participar escribiendoo editando artículos. No obstante, aunque los principios de la enciclopedia defiendan la neutralidad delas informaciones publicadas allí, son comunes las denuncias de alteraciones realizadas con la finalidadde beneficiar o perjudicar actores políticos. El objetivo de la investigación que fundamenta este artículo es comprender la dinámica de ediciones de los artículos relativos a los tres principales candidatos que compitieron por el cargo de alcalde de São Paulo en 2012: Russomanno, Haddad y Serra. Se considera el intervalo entre 2008 y 2012 como referencia para explorar, de entre otras variables, los índices de pageviews y las tendencias de las ediciones a lo largo del tiempo. The Purănas are the encyclopedic works of the ancient and medieval Hindu religion, philosophy, history, politics, ethics, sciences etc. There are 18 (Astădaśa) purănas, which are, considered as mahăpurănas, among which Garudapurăna is popular one. The Garudapurăna is divided into two parts viz., Pŭrvakhanda and Uttarakhanda. The first part, which is also called Acărakhanda consists of 240 chapters. The greater part of the Pŭrvakhanda occupies the descriptions of Vratas (religious observances), sacred places dedicated to the Sŭrya (sun), Lord Siva and Lord Visnu. It also contains treatises on various aspects like astrology, palmistry, politics, Sănkhya, Yŏga, anatomy, precious stones and extensive information on vedic medicine i.e., Ayurveda. The Uttarakhanda consists of two khandas viz. Dharmakhanda and Brahmakhanda, which are divided into 42 and 29 chapters, respectively. The Dharmakhanda is also known as the Prĕtakalpa which contains directions for the performance of obsequies rites. The Prĕtakalpa portion of the Garudapurăna is generally recited during the period of mourning and so its importance is self-evident. It is almost impossible to narrate within such a small framework, the wide range of splendid truths scattered in the pages of this noble purănam. Little information is available from internal evidence to establish its exact period. However, it is supposed to be quite ancient in its origin.

Se expone una semblanza biográfica del doctor Antonio M. de Gordon y Acosta en la que se hacen destacar su origen familiar, sus enciclopédicos estudios universitarios, su no menos abarcadora labor en la docencia, su extensa y diversa obra científica y su amplio reconocimiento por academias y sociedades científicas de países de 4 continentes. Por último se cita el largo ostracismo de los años finales de su vida como consecuencia de la cesantía en su cargo de catedrático universitario decretada al finalizar la dominación española en Cuba.
A biographical sketch of Dr Antonio M. de Gordon y Acosta is presented, which underlines his family origin, his encyclopedic university studies, comprehensive teaching work and wide recognition by scientific academies and societies from countries in four continents and finally the isolation of this man in the last years of his life after having been laid off from his post as university professor at the end of the Spanish domination in Cuba.
