ABSTRACT

Aneurysmal bone cyst [ABC] is a locally destructive lesion of the bone rather than a true neoplasm. The pelvis is not an unusual site for an ABC; approximately 12% of cases occur in this location. We present a case of aneurysmal bone cyst [ABC] in ischiopubic ramus in a 22 years old male who presented with right inguinal swelling and pain. He was evaluated with X-ray and Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI of pelvis. A review of literature regarding this rare site of ABC with radiological features is also described in this case report. ABC of ischiopubic ramus is an uncommon entity hence diagnosis of such a case requires proper clinical, radiological and histopathological evaluation to rule out other differential diagnoses of an expansile, osteolytic lesion. This will help in selecting a proper treatment plan

ABSTRACT

An association between hip pain and quadratus femoris muscle abnormality on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with concurrent narrowing of the ischiofemoral space has been reported in the recent literature. This raises the possibility that the muscle damage observed is due to ischiofemoral impingement. This diagnosis has been noted in middle-aged females either with or without a history of trauma or surgery, is a rarely described feature. We report here on a 31-year-old woman who presented with non-traumatic hip pain and evidence of narrowing of the ischiofemoral space and edema in the quadratus femoris. Nonsurgical treatment was administered, which relieved her hip pain. The diagnosis of ischiofemoral impingement should be considered in female patients complaining of hip pain without any other evident cause.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Internal hemipelvectomy or innominatectomy is a preferred alternative to hindquarter amputation for malignant tumours of the pelvis. Various segments of the pelvis have been removed surgically leaving the lower limb with residual segments of the pelvis in treatment of such tumours. We herewith present a case of total innominatectomy, i.e. dis-articulation at the pubic symphysis and sacroiliac joint for surgical clearance and treatment of a chondrosarcoma of the Innominate bone. The tumour extended from just in front of the sacroiliac joint to the ischium and warranted such a complete resection.
