ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Objective: To comprehend how university management contributes on the performance of nurses who are professors and managers in a public university. Method: Qualitative research anchored on the Grounded Theory. The setting to collect the data was a public university in south Brazil and it happened between May and September of 2016. A total of 19 nurses took part in the study, all of them also faculty members and managers that were divided in two sample groups. Results: Two subcategories were created: the comprehension that university management improves the faculty performance; obtaining a wider view of the university. Final considerations: The contributions of university management for faculty nurses who are managers are mainly on the personal and professional satisfaction through the production and dissemination of knowledge, reflecting positively on the refinement of the teaching competences to train Nurses with knowledge, technical skills and cognitive abilities to answer society's needs.


RESUMEN Objetivo: Comprender cómo contribuye la gestión universitaria con la actuación de enfermeros docentes y gestores de una universidad pública. Método: Investigación cualitativa basada en la Teoría Fundamentada en los Datos. La recolección de datos se llevó a cabo en una universidad pública del sur de Brasil entre mayo y septiembre de 2016.Participaron del estudio 19 enfermeros docentes y gestores divididos en dos grupos de muestra. Resultados: El resultado mostró dos subcategorías: la comprensión de la gestión universitaria como perfeccionadora de la actuación docente; la obtención de una visión ampliada de la universidad. Consideraciones finales: Las contribuciones de la gestión universitaria para los enfermeros docentes y gestores se denotan, especialmente, en la satisfacción profesional y personal a través de la producción y diseminación del conocimiento, repercutiendo de forma positiva en la mejoría de las competencias docentes para la formación de Enfermeros con conocimientos, habilidades, aptitudes técnicas y cognitivas para atender las necesidades de la sociedad.


RESUMO Objetivo: Compreender como a gestão universitária contribui na atuação de enfermeiros docentes gestores de uma universidade pública. Método: Pesquisa qualitativa ancorada na Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados. O cenário de coleta de dados foi uma universidade pública do sul do Brasil e ocorreu entre maio e setembro de 2016. Participaram do estudo 19 enfermeiros docentes gestores divididos em dois grupos amostrais. Resultados: Elucidam duas subcategorias: compreender que a gestão universitária aperfeiçoa a atuação docente; obter uma visão ampliada da universidade. Considerações finais: As contribuições da gestão universitária para os enfermeiros docentes gestores encontram-se especialmente na satisfação profissional e pessoal através da produção e disseminação do conhecimento, repercutindo de forma positiva no aperfeiçoamento de competências docentes para a formação de Enfermeiros com conhecimentos, habilidades e aptidões técnicas e cognitivas para atender às necessidades da sociedade.

ABSTRACT

Introdução: a competitividade no mercado de trabalho aliada ao atual perfil dospacientes, mais informados e exigentes, tem dificultado o sucesso das clínicas ortodônticas.Objetivo: este estudo se propôs a indicar as melhores maneiras nas quais o ortodontista podeagir na administração e no gerenciamento de seu consultório, abordando aspectos de administraçãofinanceira nem sempre conhecidos pelos profissionais. Buscou-se ainda relacionaro marketing com a fidelização dos clientes e orientar o profissional no atendimento e no relacionamentocom os mesmos. Conclusão: atualmente, a utilização de estratégias adequadasde marketing nos consultórios da área de Ortodontia é de fundamental importância para oêxito do profissional; o cirurgião-dentista não é o único responsável pelo desenvolvimento demarketing - sua equipe, na integridade, deverá compor a imagem profissional da empresa.


Introduction: the competitiveness in the labor market among with the currentprofile of patients every time more informed and demanding, hinders the success of orthodonticclinics. Aim: this study aimed to show the best ways in which the orthodontist can act inthe administration and management of his office, covering aspects of financial administrationis not always known by the professionals. It also sought to link the marketing with customerloyalty and lead the professional service and relationship with them. Conclusions: it was concludedthat currently the use of appropriate marketing offices in Orthodontics area is crucialto the success of the professional; the dentist is not only responsible for the developmentof marketing - his team, integrity, should compose the professional image of the company.

ABSTRACT

Este trabalho, de revisão de literatura, objetiva descrever a utilização da informática para o crescimento do profissional cirurgião-dentista nos dias atuais, enfatizando o uso do prontuário eletrônico. Descreve-se sua facilidade, validade e confiabilidade, mostrando que o mesmo pode atender, também, à saúde pública e até às autoridades judiciais em caso de processos criminais e cíveis. O momento é de transição entre os prontuários de papel e o eletrônico. A segurança e confiabilidade dos prontuários eletrônicos apoiam-se em princípios de integridade, confiabilidade, disponibilidade, autenticação, autorização, legalidade e auditoria geradas pela certificação digital instituída pela Medida Provisória 2200-2 de 2001.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the study was to understand how family physicians managed their primary health care centers and to identify the factors for successful management of their privative clinics. METHODS: The data was collected through individual interviews from five family physicians who operated their private clinics. All interviews were tape-recorded and transcribed into verbatim data. The data was analyzed using qualitative content analysis. RESULTS: Three major categories were identified: 1) types of physician based on major value as a doctor; 2) difficulties in operation and management; 3) desirable operating strategies for success. The first category described what kinds of value the physicians pursued as they operated their private clinics. Two different types were identified. One was intrinsic value oriented and the other was extrinsic value oriented. The second category illustrated many difficulties that family physicians faced in operating and managing their private clinics. Lack of private time, social isolation, and gap between mission and reality of practice were identified as major difficulties. Desirable strategies for the successful management were four subcategories: location; self-oriented developmental plan; specialization of the services; and activating network with larger hospitals. CONCLUSION: The results of the study would be helpful in setting up and operating private clinics through understanding the difficulties and strategies of primary physicians and recognizing mission and major value of them.

ABSTRACT

The purposes of this study were to investigate importance level and performance frequency of the dietitians' duties and task elements, to examine the actual condition of education and need for education, to analyze the interrelation between their tasks and education, and to provide the direction of education for the contracted Business & Industry (B & I) foodservice dietitians. The task elements of receiving, ordering, HACCP management and directing serving process were done almost every day. In terms of the importance of tasks, food sanitation management, personnel sanitation management, receiving and ordering were high. Meanwhile, the computerization of their works was being carried out on the whole, showing a higher frequency in all the details of procurement management and accounting management, as well as task elements such as menu planning, leftover and food waste management, HACCP management and human resource management. In the past three years, HACCP management, cost management, planning work schedule and allotting a task, general business and sale bond management were increased most and rapidly. For the actual condition of education, dietitians got more education for the duty of sanitation, safe and facility/utility management than any other duty, while they did less education of procurement management and office management than others. Meanwhile, the education for sanitation, safe and facility/utility management and accounting management were very much required. For the relationships of frequency of duty and the necessity of education, seven task elements including food sanitation management were correlated positively. Eighteen tasks besides menu planning had a significant positive correlation between the importance of duties and the necessity of education.

ABSTRACT

OBJETIVOS: identificar a influência do uso da internet na prática e ambiente de trabalho médico e verificar como estas mudanças vêm acorrendo entre médicos ginecologistas e obstetras. MÉTODO: foram enviados 1.120 questionários para médicos ginecologistas e obstetras da cidade de São Paulo, dos quais retornaram 152, o correspondente a 13,6 por cento da amostra ou 6,1 por cento do total dos médicos cadastrados na SOGESP. A análise quantitativa do comportamento do médico quanto ao uso da internet foi realizada por meio de proporções, médias, cálculos de desvios-padrão e do teste de associação de qui-quadrado. Através da técnica de Cluster Analysis, foram determinados 4 grupos segundo o perfil dos profissionais relacionado ao uso desta ferramenta. RESULTADOS: não se observou relação de idade, sexo, locais de trabalho e desenvolvimento de apenas uma das especialidades Ginecologia ou Obstetrícia quanto à utilização da internet na prática médica. Observou-se uma tendência de uso mais freqüente entre médicos com doutorado. Quanto aos serviços médicos prestados por e-mail, receber e devolver exames foram as atividades mais realizadas pelos sujeitos da pesquisa. CONCLUSÃO: os ginecologistas obstetras pesquisados utilizam a internet na prática médica para própria atualização, para comunicação com pacientes ou para oferecer serviços às mesmas com diferentes assiduidades. Entretanto, este uso é ainda parcial, talvez relacionado ao receio de interferências negativas na relação com o paciente, além de preocupações quanto à implicações legais, éticas e principalmente econômicas relacionadas à prática profissional.

ABSTRACT

The purposes of this research were to examine the effect of the catering company's dietetic internship program through a self-evaluating ability test about management performance between pre and post internship programs and consequently to suggest improvement in the internship program. In this study, two types of questionnaires were conducted in July and October 2006, targeting 41 dietetic interns who trained in a 6 months internship program. Except the 4 dropped interns, data from 37 interns were collected and used for statistical analysis, using the SPSS Win 11.0 version. The results of this study were as follows: First of all, the analysis on the effect of the internship program according to classified management segments showed significant improvements in the following order: purchase management (p < 0.001), computer program management (p < 0.001), facilities management (p < 0.001), accounting management (p < 0.01), personnel management (p < 0.01), retention management (p < 0.01), sanitation management (p < 0.01), service management (p < 0.01) and foodservice management (p < 0.01). However, there was no significantly improvement in management of clients. Secondly, the result of the analysis on the details of each management segment that were significant improvement and changing score was the top 5 duties were as follows: In the purchase management, the score of weekly and daily order management was increased 1.0 (p < 0.001), the score of weekly inventory management was 0.81 (p < 0.001). In the computation office management, expenses handling through a computer program was 0.65 (p < 0.01). In the personnel management, the score of work schedule management increased 0.81 (p < 0.001). In the accounting management, the score of monthly profit and loss account management was 0.65 (p < 0.001). Furthermore, qualified educational programs connected with the internship program will have to be systematically developed and continually carried out in order to improve service and management abilities of branch managers.

ABSTRACT

The authors conducted this study to evaluate the efficacy of a health check-up program and the health status of health care workers at Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. The authors reviewed all yearly-check up charts of personnel who worked at Srinagarind Hospital from 2002 to 2003 including history taking, physical examination, and laboratory testings. There were 606 office workers and 1,024 nursing staff enrolled The mean ages of both groups were 38.9 and 36.5 years old, respectively. The office workers visited physicians significantly more often than the nursing staff (553 of 606 vs 271 of 1,024; p-value = 0.00). Obesity was found much more in office workers (127 of 472 versus 129 of 749). There were significant differences between the groups on impaired fasting plasma glucose, DM, HT, high cholesterol level, high triglyceride level, and significant elevation of ALT or AST (all p-value = 0.00). In the obese group, there was also a significantly higher number of cases who had high blood pressure, defined as IFG or DM, high cholesterol level, and high triglyceride level (p-value = 0.00) except the significant elevation of ALT or AST level. Cases of obesity with significant elevation of hepatic enzyme had many atherosclerotic risk factors. Therefore, metabolic derangements are the important problem for health care workers.

ABSTRACT

OBJETIVO: Determinar o perfil do administrador de clínica oftalmológica na Grande São Paulo. MÉTODOS: Foram encaminhados questionários para clínicas oftalmológicas sorteadas aleatoriamente. Variáveis analisadas: sexo, idade, escolaridade, cursos de graduação e pós-graduação, participação na sociedade, carga horária efetiva, visão de carreira, e sistemática de remuneração e número de consultas/mês da clínica. RESULTADOS: Cinqüenta e cinco por cento eram homens, 60 por cento tinham de 30 a 59 anos, para 60 por cento era sua primeira experiência na área e 56 por cento administravam clínicas com mais de 1000 consultas/mês. Entre os que tinham formação universitária (70 por cento), 56 por cento concluíram curso de Administração de Empresas. Metade dos entrevistados tinham pós-graduação, sendo os cursos preferidos: Administração Hospitalar (40 por cento) e MBA (30 por cento). Somente 10 por cento eram sócios da clínica. Trabalham acima de 40 horas/semana 75 por cento dos profissionais. Atualmente 60 por cento não fazem curso na área e 56 por cento acham que o incentivo à carreira deve vir da clínica. Benefícios: 75 por cento dos profissionais têm planos de saúde e/ou carteira assinada. Remuneração: salário com participação no faturamento (48 por cento) e o salário fixo (42 por cento). CONCLUSÕES: Neste estudo, encontramos a profissão de administrador de clínicas estruturando-se com profissionais de ambos os sexos, formação em Administração de Empresas, alguns com pós-graduação na área, carga horária acima de 40 h semanais, acreditando que a clínica deve investir em seu aperfeiçoamento. Fazem-se necessários outros estudos que contribuam para melhor conhecimento deste profissional.
