ABSTRACT
Presentamos un caso de una paciente en la que se confirmó la ausencia de recurrencia de tumoración retroorbitaria gracias a la fusión de imágenes metabólicas PET con morfológicas RNM. La utilización individualmente de PET o de RNM, no hubiera permitido la obtención de este diagnóstico de certeza. La fusión PET con RNM se realiza actualmente con sistemas informáticos; existiendo ya un primer prototipo en pruebas de cámara híbrida PET-RNM. Este será el siguiente paso de la Medicina Nuclear tras la fusión del PET con la TAC.
We present a patient´s case with the confirmation of absence of a retroorbitary tumor recurrence thanks to the fusion of metabolic PET image with morphologic MRI image. With only the individualy use of PET or MRI, we weren´t able to obtain the certainty diagnosis. At present PET-MRI fusion is made with informatics procedures; with an hybrid PET-MRI scanner in trials. This will be the next step in Nuclear Medicine after the PET CT fusion.
