ABSTRACT
Prostatic stroma was studied in twenty cases of benign prostate tissue and fifteen cases of malignant prostate tissue. H and E strain, Masson's trichrome strain and immuno-histochemistry by making smooth muscle strome with smooth muscle actin and anti-desmin antibodies were used for each case. In benign prostate tissue stroma form the main component. Smooth muscle fibers that form the main element of the stroma show two patterns, areas of dense condensation and alternation with fibrous tissue b and s. The fibrous tissue increased in the stroma especially around secretory epithelium. In malignant prostate tissue no increase in smooth muscle fibers while, fibrous tissue was more around invasive malignant cells. Anti-desmin was weak positive in 8.6% of cases while smooth muscle action show marked positivity in all the cases
