ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Twenty patients complaining of eye symptoms, nervousness, palpitation and fatigue and suspected of having grave's disease were diagnosed as euthyroid grave's disease by laboratory data. Antithyroid antibodies and an abnormal TSH response to exogenous TRH were demonstrable denoting abnormalities of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal thyroid axis

ABSTRACT

In 74 patients with untreated pituitary insufficiency, the TRH- test [Ultra- Sensible TSH performed by immunoradiometric assay] has permitted to detect 48 thyreotrop deficiency. There is no correlation between basal TSH- us values and TSH reponse [TSH] under TRH; only 4 patients with pituitary hypothyroidism presented low basal TSH- us [<0.26 micro Ul/ml]. In the pituitary pathology, the TSH reponse under TRH remains indispensable for the evaluation of TSH pituitary reserves, since basal TSH- us value doesn't permit to predict the reponse TSH to TRH
