ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Objective: to provide a historical and theoretical reflection on the contributions of normal science to the development of the nursing process. Method: reflective theoretical study using the assumptions of Thomas Kuhn about the contributions of normal science to the consolidation of the nursing process. Results: throughout the historical evolution of nursing, Florence Nightingale's philosophy was the first scientific revolution in nursing, in which modern nursing was constituted. In the mid-1950s, the nursing process paradigm was proposed, in which elements that would be legitimately inherent in nursing practice (nursing diagnoses, results and interventions) were incorporated into the research. Final considerations: currently, the nursing process is accepted by the community in the area, configuring itself as the route of normal science in nursing

ABSTRACT

This study of approach in micro-history, has temporal delimitation in 1908, when Gregório Thaumaturgo de Azevedo was elected president of Brazilian Red Cross to 1918, his departure from this institution. It was held in the digital library of the Biblioteca Nacional and news was found in the newspaper Correio da Manhã and O Paiz that pointed to the creation of the school of volunteer nurses in 1914 and in 1916, the school of pratical nurses. The marshal's administration coincided with the World War I and the news about the course of paddlers indicate the interest in training professionals for the war. The news also indicates the acquisition of the land that today is the headquarters. In 1918, during the Spanish flu epidemic, the pioneering initiative was taken to open a war on the institution ́s premises. This management conquered the social, political and sanitary space demarcating history, due to its initiatives aimed at professionalizing nursing

ABSTRACT

Abstract This text uses theoretical contributions from the history of science to discuss aspects of the stages of pandemics understood as social phenomena and how covid-19 moved into the interior of the Amazon region. The arrival of this disease in the vast forest territory made differentiated access to public health more evident, with services and professionals concentrated in the larger cities in the north of Brazil. The rise in coronavirus rates within the forest consequently highlights the history of social inequalities in the region and problems accessing citizenship in Brazilian society.

ABSTRACT

Abstract This article describes the emergence of health concerns relating to the epidemics that occurred during the twentieth century in La Pampa, a province in Argentina. Epidemics such as smallpox drove such policies, which frequently originated in Buenos Aires, the country's capital. The spread of many epidemics was due to shortages: water, sewage and adequate refuse disposal, an insufficient number of health care workers, the presence of disease transmission vectors such as mosquitos, and, ultimately, poverty. The historical experience described in this text highlights the importance of analyzing the impact of SARS-CoV-2 beyond the big cities.

ABSTRACT

Abstract The rise of the covid-19 pandemic has led to renewed interest in the 1918-1919 influenza in search of aspects that might help us understand the current situation, but also as an opportunity to re-evaluate the serious twentieth-century health crisis in light of what we are experiencing now. In this context and with that goal, this historical reflection shows the parallels that exist and the need for a realization that our model of society is undergoing a crisis and requires profound transformation.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Between 1935 and 1950 the neurology was presented and developed in Mexico. It happened by two ways: the arrival of Spanish neuroscience researchers in Mexico exiled due the Civil War; and the presence of Mexican doctors that had specialized in neurosurgery in the United States. The article discusses historiographic points of view that stress the importance of the Spanish exiled doctors, but neglect the important role of native doctors in the emergence of Mexican neurology. It states that there was an integration process by both parts, where Mexicans tried to satisfy care needs while the Spanish had to find or create working spaces to belong to.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Abstract The history of the National Basic Health Services Program (Prev-saúde) begins in 1979 with a joint effort involving the Ministries of Health, Social Security and Assistance, Interior, and Economy, as well as the Pan-American Health Organization. The objective was to reorganize basic health services in their connections with other levels of care. Internationally, it was part of the movement sparked by the International Conference on Primary Health Care in Alma-Ata in September 1978. Domestically, the program represented an accumulation of knowledge about the organization of services as well as a movement that was partially adapted to Brazilian health reform agenda. Prev-saúde was a set of health proposals that represented a technical consensus between bureaucracies and leaders of health reform.

ABSTRACT

Abstract The study of skin, the science of dermatology, has undergone significant transformations throughout the centuries. From the first descriptions of skin diseases in Egyptian papyri and in Hippocratic writings to the first treatises on dermatology, important individuals and discoveries have marked the specialty. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the specialty consolidated itself as a field of medical study based on the first classifications of dermatoses, diagnostic methods, and drug treatments. In the 20th century, the scientific and technological revolution transformed dermatological practice, incorporating new therapeutic resources, as well as surgical and aesthetic procedures. In the face of such a vigorous process, it is important to provide a historical synthesis for the medical community to recognize and understand the origins that supported one of the most relevant specialties in the current medical scenario.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Man has acted on bone fractures of the limbs since ancient times, confirming immobilization (reduction-stability) as the basic way of treating the condition, which is presented with the triad of trauma, pain and functional impotence. Objective: The objective of this paper was to organize the presentation of the changes occurred with technological innovations, integrated in the treatment of fractures. Methods: A literature review on fractures is presented here. Articles published in journals indexed by CITMA, books by well-known authors, personal notes of events and surgical activities were reviewed, in order to analyze the selected variables and their historical links with the different stages that marked the new conceptions and modifications, arisen in the use of this type of osteosynthesis we call generations. Variables selected for analysis were fracture reduction, access route for plate placement, surgical procedure, new implant designs, instrumentation, implant metallurgy, and healing consolidation. Constitutive elements of the osteosynthesis surgical procedure: By relating the results obtained and the dates of their implementation, with historical moments and the inclusion of relevant technological innovations, we come to recognize three stages or generations and their influence explains the advances in the current conceptions of this approach. First generation: classic, early 20th century. Second generation: compression, post-World War II. Third generation: current, functional, and biological. Conclusions: By relating the results obtained and the dates of their implementation, with historical moments and the inclusion of relevant technological innovations, we come to recognize three stages or generations whose influence explains the advances in the current conceptions of this procedure. First generation or classic: at the beginning of the 20th century. Second generation: compression, post-World War II. Third generation: current, functional and biological(AU)

ABSTRACT

This text was initially published as a preface written by Yves Clot in honor of Ivar Oddone. We decided to publish it as an article, authorized by the author, as we believe that it brings important and current contributions to the field of work, in interseccion with several theories: Clinic of Activity, Ergology, Ergonomics, Worker's Health, among others. In this text, Yves Clot takes up highlights of Ivar Oddone's work and produces reflections about its original aspects, not always considered by experts in the field. Thus, he makes a comparative analysis with those aspects and the proposals presented by Elton Mayo, which have become an important tool for the development of industrial capitalism under the supposed appreciation of the human sides in work situations. Contrary to Mayo's conceptions and practices, which were aimed at increasing the productivity of companies and, therefore, at the exploitation of workers, Oddone sought to recognize and value the knowledge of workers, intending that this was used as a kind of counterpower, by expanding its power to act in the work situation, points that are widely discussed by Clot in the text that we present now.
