ABSTRACT

Las guías para el manejo del asma promueven la educación sanitaria como un escalón más en su terapéutica. Se creó el programa Educación Sanitaria del Niño Asmático y su Familia. El objetivo fue evaluar el impacto del Programa sobre el bienestar del niño asmático y su familia.Estudio retrospectivo, descriptivo, durante 3 años, que analizó características epidemiológicas, impacto y satisfacción de las familias. Se incluyeron 386 pacientes. Asma controlada al corte: el 78 %. Descendieron el uso de beta-2-adrenérgicos y las admisiones hospitalarias (p < 0,05), el uso de corticoides orales y consultas en Urgencias (p < 0,001). Evaluó el Programa como excelente el 98 %; comprendió y aceptó la enfermedad el 99 %; reconoció el inicio de crisis y comenzó el tratamiento el 96 %; aplicó bien la terapia inhalatoria el 92 %. El Programa tuvo alto impacto en el control del asma. Constituyó un modelo útil para replicar.


Guidelines for management establish health education as part of asthma care. A Health Education Program for Asthmatic Children and Families was started in our institution. This descriptive retrospective study was designed in order to evaluate the Program impact in children and family satisfaction; 386 children were enrolled. Their asthma was properly controlled in 78 %. There was a significant decrease (p < 0.05) of rapid action beta 2 agonists use and hospital admissions, and a highly significant decrease (p < 0.001) of corticosteroids use and emergency visits. Educational content was found to be excellent in 98 %; 99 % understood and accepted the condition; 96 % were able to recognize early symptoms and started home treatment; 92 % correctly managed inhalation technique. The Program had a high impact on children asthma control, with a significant decrease in emergency visits, admissions, and drug use, becoming a useful model

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Genetic counseling (GC) provides many benefits, including the identification of patients appropriate for testing, patient education, and medical management. We evaluated the current status of and challenges faced by GC practitioners in Korean hospitals.METHODS: An electronic survey was designed and conducted in 52 certified laboratory physicians belonging to the Korean Society of Laboratory Medicine, from August to September 2018. The questionnaires addressed three main categories of information: (1) current status of GC in hospitals; (2) essential qualifications of GC practitioners; and (3) challenges and perspectives for GC. Fisher's exact test was applied to analyze categorical data.RESULTS: Among a total of 52 participants who initially responded, 12 (23.1%) were performing GC either by direct or indirect care. GC clinics were opened regularly for one (33.3%) or more than three sessions (25.0%) per week; most respondents spent more time for pre-visit activities than in-person visits, both for a initial visit patient and for a follow-up visit patient. All laboratory physicians provided genetic information to their patients. Most recommended family genetic testing when indicated (91.7%), discussed disease management (75.0%), and/or ordered additional genetic testing (58.3%), and some referred patients to other specialists (8.3%).CONCLUSIONS: Both patients and laboratory physicians concede the advantage of GC performed by clinical geneticists; however, the practice of GC involves several challenges and raises some concerns. The cost and support required to implement GC need to be addressed in order to provide qualified GC in Korea.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: This study aims to examine the effects of nursing interventions based on the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior (ETPB) regarding self-efficacy for exercise (SEE), physical activity (PA), physical function (PF), and quality of life (QOL) in patients with lung cancer who have undergone pulmonary resection.METHODS: This quasi-experimental study was conducted between July 2015 and June 2018 in two university-affiliated hospitals. The intervention included pre-operative patient education, goal setting (action and coping planning), and feedback (behavior intention and perceived behavioral control). The intervention group (IG) (n=51) received nursing interventions from the day before surgery to 12 months after lung resection, while the comparison group (CG) (n=36) received usual care. SEE, PA, PF (dyspnea, functional status, and 6-minute walking distance [6MWD]), and QOL were measured before surgery and at one, three, six, and 12 months after surgery. Data were analyzed using the χ² test, Fisher's exact test, Mann–Whitney U test, t-test, and generalized estimation equations (GEE).RESULTS: There were significant differences between the two groups regarding SEE (χ²=13.53, p=.009), PA (χ²=9.51, p=.049), functional status (χ²=10.55, p=.032), and 6MWD (χ²=15.62, p=.004). Although there were no time or group effects, the QOL mental component (Z=−2.78, p=.005) of the IG was higher than that of the CG one month after surgery. Interventions did not affect dyspnea or the QOL physical component.CONCLUSION: The intervention of this study was effective in improving SEE, PA, functional status, and 6MWD of lung cancer patients after lung resection. Further extended investigations that utilize ETPB are warranted to confirm these results.

ABSTRACT

Evaluar el impacto educativo en pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 (DMT2) e Hipertensión arterial (HTA), y su efecto en la calidad de vida. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio intervención en comunidad, en pacientes con diagnóstico de DMT2 e HTA, en la consulta de Medicina Interna. Resultados: Participaron 314 pacientes, distribuidos en un grupo estudio (n = 160) y grupo control (n = 154). Sin diferencias en edad (p = 0,491) y sexo (p = 0,747). En la calidad de vida de pacientes DM entre pre y post charla, en cada grupo, sin diferencias entre grupos en pre-charla (p = 0,869), pero sí en post-charla (p = 0,001), siendo calidad de vida más alta en el grupo estudio (98,2%) que en grupo control (76,9%). Al evaluar los cambios entre pre y post charla, se observó que pre charla en el grupo estudio tuvo 86% de alta calidad de vida, posterior aumentó a 98,2%, cambio estadístico (p = 0,008), en grupo control en cambio, la calidad de vida pre charla fue 87% pasó a 76,9% posterior a ésta, aun así, fue un cambio significativo (p = 0,025) La calidad de vida en HTA, sin diferencias en pre y post charla. La comparación entre pre charla y post charla, en el grupo estudio, no tuvo cambios (p = 0,157) como igualmente en el grupo control (p = 0,317). Conclusiones: Se demostró el impacto positivo de un plan educativo en calidad de vida de los pacientes con diabetes, mas no en pacientes hipertensos(AU)


To evaluate the educational impact in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and arterial hypertension (AHT), and its effect on quality of life. Methods: A community intervention study was carried out in patients diagnosed with T2DM and HBP in the Internal Medicine department. Results: 314 patients participated, distributed in a study group (n = 160) and control group (n = 154). No differences in age (p = 0.491) and sex (p = 0.747). In the quality of life of DM patients between pre and post talk, in each group, without differences between groups in pre-talk (p = 0.869), but in post-talk (p = 0.001), with higher quality of life in the study group (98.2%) than in the control group (76.9%). When evaluating the changes between pre and post talk, it was observed that pre-talk in the study group had 86% of high quality of life, later it increased to 98.2%, statistical change (p = 0.008), in control group instead, Pre-chat quality of life was 87%, after 76.9%, it was still a significant change (p = 0.025) Quality of life in HTA, without differences in pre and post talk. The comparison between pre-talk and post-talk, in the study group, did not change (p = 0.157) as well as in the control group (p = 0.317). Conclusions: The positive impact of an educational plan on the quality of life of diabetic patients was demonstrated, but not in hypertensive patients(AU)

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Cancer survivors often lack the knowledge and skills to return to positive health behaviors following a cancer diagnosis. The use of retreats may be an ideal environment for cancer survivors to learn about health behaviours while receiving social support from other survivors. Methods: Knights Cabin Cancer Retreats was created as a charitable organization in 2014 and is at no cost to participants or their supporters. Elements of the retreat include guided hikes, yoga, classes on nutrition, stress, mindfulness and sleep management techniques, all with a focus on the evidence based theories of behavioral change. Results: Ten retreats have been hosted across Canada to date with 137 cancer survivors and their supporters. Survivors reported that their top learning outcomes from the retreat were physical activity/nutrition and behavioral change/habit development. Conclusion: Knight's Cabin Cancer retreats are unique in their programming with a format of health education that allows for emotional support and engagement with other cancer survivors in a therapeutically natural environment.

ABSTRACT

Objetivo: identificar a compreensão dos familiares sobre a importância da técnica de higienização das mãos para a realização de diálise peritoneal em domicílio. Metodologia: estudo descritivo, abordagem qualitativa, método de pesquisa convergente-assistencial. O estudo foi realizado em um Hospital Universitário Estadual do Rio de Janeiro, no setor de Nefrologia. O estudo envolveu 06 familiares que realizam terapia de diálise peritoneal para seus familiares. A coleta de dados ocorreu no período de 13 de julho de 2017 a 31 de agosto de 2017. Principais resultados: dos 06 participantes do estudo 02 realizou-se o saneamento das mãos corretamente de acordo com o vídeo fornecido pela pesquisadora. Conclusão: Percebe-se que, para alguns participantes, ainda há receio e insegurança em relação à execução da técnica de higienização das mãos corretamente.(AU)


Objective: the present study has the following aims: to identify the family members' understanding of the importance of hand hygiene technique for peritoneal dialysis at home. Methods: a descriptive study, qualitative approach, using Convergence - Assistance Research as a method. The study was conducted at a State University Hospital located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the Nephrology sector. Sixty family members undergoing peritoneal dialysis therapy of their relative at home participated in the study. Data collection occurred from July 3, 2017 to August 31, 2017.Results: of the 06 participants in study 02 performed the hand hygiene correctly according to the video provided by the researcher. Conclusion: the study reached the proposed objectives; with this it was perceptible that for some participants there is still fear and insecurity about the execution of the technique of hand hygiene correctly.(AU)

Resultados principales: de los 06 participantes del estudio 02 realizaron la higienización de las manos de forma correcta de acuerdo con el vídeo proporcionado por la investigadora. Conclusión principal: Fue perceptible que para algunos participantes aún exista el miedo y inseguridad con relación a la ejecución de la técnica de higienización de las manos de forma correcta. ABSTRACT

Objetivo: Identificar as ações assistenciais-educativas da enfermagem ao paciente com Doença Renal Crônica em uso de hemodiálise e como estas tem contribuído no processo de adaptação do paciente. Método: Trata-se de revisão integrativa da literatura realizada nas bases de dados da Literatura Latino-Americana (LILACS) e National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health dos EUA (PUBMED), sendo selecionada a amostra de 11 artigos. Resultados: Os artigos encontrados descrevem as contribuições das ações assistenciais-educativas de enfermagem aos pacientes com Doença Renal Crônica em necessidade de hemodiálise, no que tange ao seu processo de adaptação e integridade. Conclusão: As condutas de enfermagem com maior grau de mudança e condução de melhores resultados foram as ações educativas, com consequentes redução de risco, redução da progressão de lesão renal.(AU)


Objective: To identify nursing care-educational actions to the patient with chronic renal disease using hemodialysis and how this has contributed to the patient's adaptation process. Methods: It is an integrative review of the literature carried out in the Latin American Literature (LILACS) and National Library of Medicine (PUBMED) databases, with a sample of 11 articles selected. Results: The articles found describe the contributions of care-educational nursing actions to patients with Chronic Renal Disease in need of hemodialysis, regarding their process of adaptation and integrity. Conclusion: The nursing conducts with greater degree of change and conduction of better results were educational actions, with consequent reduction of risk, reduction of the progression of renal injury.(AU)


Objetivo: Identificar acciones de atención de enfermería y educación para el paciente con enfermedad renal crónica mediante hemodiálisis y cómo esto ha contribuido al proceso de adaptación del paciente. Metodos: Es una revisión integradora de la literatura realizada en las bases de datos de Literatura Latinoamericana (LILACS) y de la Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina (PUBMED), con una muestra de 11 artículos seleccionados. Resultados: Los artículos encontrados describen las contribuciones de las acciones de enfermería de cuidado y educación a pacientes con enfermedad renal crónica que necesitan hemodiálisis, en relación con su proceso de adaptación e integridad. Conclusión: Las conductas de enfermería con mayor grado de cambio y la conducción de mejores resultados fueron acciones educativas, con la consiguiente reducción del riesgo, reducción de la progresión de la lesión renal.(AU)

Abstract Introduction Preeclampsia is a serious complication during pregnancy that not only influences maternal and fetal physical health, but also has maternal mental health outcomes such as anxiety. Prenatal anxiety has negative short- and long-term effects on pre- and postpartum maternal mental health, delivery, and mental health in subsequent pregnancies. Objective To investigate the effectiveness of individual psycho-educational counseling on anxiety in pregnant women with preeclampsia. Methods This was a randomized, intervention-controlled study involving two governmental hospitals in the municipality of Sirjan, Kerman, from January 30 2017 to March 31 2017. A total of 44 pregnant women with preeclampsia were assessed. The women were randomized into two groups: control (n=22) and intervention (n=22). The intervention consisted of two sessions of individual psycho-educational counseling. The level of anxiety was measured using the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) as pretest before the first session and as posttest after the second session during the hospitalization period. Results There was a significant reduction in the anxiety level after the counselling sessions in the intervention group (p<0.005). In addition, there was a slight increase in the anxiety level in the control group after the study. Conclusion According to the results, psycho-educational counseling can significantly reduce the anxiety level in pregnant women with preeclampsia. Therefore, it is recommended that healthcare providers provide this type of therapeutic intervention for pregnant women after hospitalization, in order to reduce their anxiety level and its subsequent negative outcomes. Resumo Introdução A pré-eclâmpsia é uma complicação séria durante a gravidez que não apenas influencia a saúde física da mãe e do feto, mas também tem consequências para a saúde mental materna, por exemplo ansiedade. A ansiedade pré-natal tem efeitos negativos e de longo prazo sobre a saúde mental da mãe antes e após o parto, sobre o parto, assim como sobre a saúde mental em gestações subsequentes. Objetivo Investigar a eficácia do aconselhamento psicoeducacional individual com relação aos níveis de ansiedade em gestantes com pré-eclâmpsia. Métodos Este foi um estudo randomizado, controlado, que envolveu dois hospitais governamentais na cidade de Sirjan, Kerman, de 30 de janeiro de 2017 a 31 de março de 2017. Um total de 42 gestantes com pré-eclâmpsia foram avaliadas. As mulheres foram randomicamente divididas em dois grupos: controle (n=22) e intervenção (n=22). A intervenção consistiu de duas sessões de aconselhamento psicoeducacional individual. O nível de ansiedade foi medido usando-se o Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) antes da primeira sessão (pré-teste) e após a segunda seção (pós-teste), durante o período de hospitalização. Resultados Houve uma redução significativa no nível de ansiedade após as sessões de aconselhamento no grupo intervenção (p<0,005). Além disso, houve um discreto aumento no nível de ansiedade no grupo controle após o estudo. Conclusão De acordo com os resultados deste estudo, o aconselhamento psicoeducacional pode reduzir de forma significativa o nível de ansiedade em gestantes com pré-eclâmpsia. Assim, recomenda-se que os profissionais de saúde ofereçam esse tipo de intervenção terapêutica para gestantes após a hospitalização, a fim de reduzir o nível de ansiedade e seus desfechos negativos. ABSTRACT

Caracterizar a presença da neuropatia diabética em usuários diabéticos de uma Unidade de Saúde da Família (USF). Estudo descritivo, exploratório, de caráter quantitativo, desenvolvido em uma USF de Olinda/PE. A amostra foi composta por 106 usuários diabéticos cadastrados na respectiva USF. Foi realizado testes com o apoio de instrumentos como o monofilamento de 10g e o teste da sensação de picadas, além de formulário específico. Do total, 85,9% dos usuários referiram sintomas neuropáticos como dormência e formigamentos e 67,9% estavam com os pés ressecados. Perante a avaliação vascular, 52,84% dos avaliados apresentaram o pulso pedioso diminuído. Quanto a avaliação neurológica, 19,81% dos diabéticos apresentaram alterações na sensibilidade tátil à pressão. Calos estavam presentes em 45,2% dos avaliados. Foi possível verificar que altas taxas de sinais e sintomas neuropáticos estavam presentes nos diabéticos participantes deste estudo. Desta forma, intervenções precoces precisam ser implementadas na unidade de saúde.(AU)


To characterize diabetic neuropathy in diabetic patients in a Family Health Unit (FHU). A descriptive, exploratory, quantitative study developed in a FHU in the Olinda / PE. The sample consisted of 106 diabetic patients enrolled in their FHU. Tests were carried out with the support of instruments such as 10g monofilament and the pricking sensation test, besides specific forms. Of the total, 85.9% of the users reported neuropathic symptoms such as numbness and tingling, and 67.9% had dry feet. Throughout the vascular evaluation, 52.84% of the patients presented decreased pedal pulse. As for the neurological evaluation, 19.81% revealed alterations in the tactile sensitivity to pressure. Callus were present in 45.2% of the evaluated ones. It was possible to observe high rates of neuropathic signs and symptoms in each one of the participants submitted. Therefore, measures need to be taken in order to implement early interventions in the health unit.(AU)

ABSTRACT

This study aims to assess the quality of online health information about gamete donation based on a quantitative analysis of websites from fertility-clinics in Portugal. All websites providing information about gamete donation were comprehensively screened in June 2017. The reliability and usability of 43 webpages were assessed through the Website Information Evaluation Instrument from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP). None of the webpages met the purpose, content development, and updating criteria set by the ODPHP. Several shortcomings were observed: limited accessibility for users with disabilities, lack of simplified user experiences and easy search functionality, and lack of users' interaction with content. The quality of online information on gamete donation in fertility-clinics' websites requires improvement to become user-friendly. The development of specific guidelines and periodic evaluations of these websites using sensitive instruments, merging quantitative and qualitative assessments, is required to guarantee the quality of information that aims to improve reproductive health literacy through people-centered communication.


Este estudo pretende avaliar a qualidade da informação online sobre doação de gametas em sites de clínicas de fertilidade em Portugal. Todos os sites com informação sobre doação de gametas foram escrutinados em junho de 2017. A confiabilidade e usabilidade de 43 páginas web foram avaliadas usando o instrumento Website Information Evaluation do Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Nenhuma página cumpriu os critérios de propósito, desenvolvimento e atualização de conteúdo. Encontraram-se várias lacunas na usabilidade: acessibilidade limitada para usuários com incapacidade, falta de clareza e de simplicidade de utilização, e impossibilidade de interagir com os conteúdos. Importa melhorar a qualidade da informação online sobre doação de gametas em clínicas de fertilidade, tornando-a mais amigável para o usuário. É necessário desenvolver guias específicos e avaliar periodicamente estes sites, usando instrumentos sensíveis que contemplem análises quantitativas e qualitativas, garantindo a sua qualidade para promover literacia em saúde reprodutiva através da comunicação centrada nas pessoas.


Este estudio evaluó la calidad de la información sobre la donación de gametos en sitios web de clínicas-defertilidad. Todos los sitios web de clínicas en Portugal fueron examinados (junio 2017). La confiabilidad y usabilidad de 43 páginas web fueron evaluadas con el Website Information Evaluation do Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Ninguna de las páginas cumplió con los criterios de propósito, desarrollo de contenido y actualización. Se observaron deficiencias: accesibilidad limitada para los usuarios con discapacidades, falta de una experiencia del usuario simplificada y baja funcionalidad de búsqueda fácil, y falta de interacción de los usuarios con el contenido. Importa mejorar la calidad de la información online sobre la donación de gametos en clínicas de fertilidad, para convertirse en fácil de usar. Es necesario el desarrollo de guías específicas y evaluaciones periódicas de los sitios web, utilizando instrumentos sensibles que combinen evaluaciones cuantitativas y cualitativas, promoviendo la alfabetización en salud reproductiva.

Objetivou-se realizar uma busca de publicações cientificas na base de dados sobre a depressão nos estudantes de enfermagem, com o propósito de responder à questão norteadora: Como a depressão pode prejudicar o desenvolvimento acadêmico, a saúde e futuro profissional dos graduandos de Enfermagem? Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa realizada em abril de 2019 com os descritores: "estudantes de enfermagem" e "depressão", com uso da estratégia de busca da aplicação do conector booleano "AND", na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde. Foram selecionados 14 estudos e elaboradas as seguintes categorias para discussão: O Inventário Beck de Depressão como instrumento de avaliação, Principais fatores associados ao desenvolvimento da Depressão nos graduandos de enfermagem e Consumo de antidepressivos entre os acadêmicos de enfermagem. Conclui-se que há a importância de discutir a qualidade de vida desse estudante, a metodologia de ensino, e a implementação de núcleo de apoio psicológico. Considerando que para o aprendizado ocorrer de forma eficaz, o aluno precisa estar bem em todos aspectos, pois a formação desse profissional implicará no cuidado de outra pessoa, o paciente.(AU)


The aim of this study was to search the scientific literature in the database on depression in nursing students, in order to answer the guiding question: How can depression affect academic development, the health and professional future of Nursing undergraduate students? This is an integrative review conducted in April 2019 with the descriptors: "nursing students" and "depression", using the search strategy of the Boolean connector "AND", in the Virtual Health Library. studies and elaborated the following categories for discussion: The Beck Inventory of Depression as an instrument of evaluation, Main factors associated with the development of Depression in Nursing Graduates and Consumption of antidepressants among nursing academics. It is concluded that it is important to discuss the quality of life of this student, the teaching methodology, and the implementation of a nucleus of psychological support. Considering that for learning to occur effectively, the student needs to be well in all aspects, since the training of this professional will involve the care of another person, the patient.(AU)

ABSTRACT

La hipertensión es una causa mayor de discapacidad y muerte a nivel mundial. El conocimiento de los pacientes es un factor importante para modificar conceptos erró-neos y el riesgo que constituye la hiperten-sión como condicionante de daño cardiovas-cular. Objetivo: Describir los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de pacientes hiperten-sos de la comunidad de San José de Boque-rón, San Pedro Sula, julio del 2018. Pacien-tes y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal cuantitativo. La muestra fue de 30 pacientes con hipertensión arterial, seleccionados a través de muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. La recolec-ción de datos se realizó mediante una encuesta aplicada a pacientes hipertensos que cumplían con criterios de inclusión y contaban con un consentimiento informado. Los datos se tabularon mediante Microsoft Excel 2016. Resultados: 76.7% de los pacientes eran mujeres y 64% tenía más de 60 años. El 50% de los pacientes conocía sobre hipertensión arterial, 56.7% refieren que los tratamientos caseros superan a los medicamentos. Un 10% considera que el consumo de sal era mayor del requerimiento diario. El 36.7% no sigue ninguna dieta y 60% no realiza al menos 30 minutos de ejer-cicio diario. Conclusión: El conocimiento en la población de la comunidad de San José de Boquerón fue adecuado, sin embargo, el conocimiento sobre la hipertensión arterial y los parámetros normales de presión arterial sigue siendo insatisfactorios. Hay una acti-tud positiva de los pacientes sobre asistir a consulta con un médico y mayor confianza en la medicina alternativa que en los farma-cos. Abstract Objective. Analyze and integrate studies that inquire on the benefits of nursing educational interventions to manage post-surgical pain. Methods. A systematic search was conducted in the databases of Scopus, Medline (Pubmed), Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, and CINAHL of systematic reviews, randomized clinical trials, and quasiexperimental studies published in English and Spanish until 2018 that analyzed the effectiveness of educational interventions in managing post-surgical pain in adult patients. Results. Twelve studies complied inclusion criteria, of which nine reported less pain in the group receiving the educational intervention. These interventions also helped to diminish the level of anxiety and improved functionality to perform activities of daily life. The level of quality of the studies was medium. Conclusion. Although the review showed that nursing educational interventions could influence on the relief of post-surgical pain, more rigorous studies are necessary, with bigger sample sizes and higher methodological quality, which help to establish the real effectiveness in managing post-surgical patients with pain.


Resumen Objetivo. Analizar e integrar los estudios que indagan en los beneficios de las intervenciones educativas enfermeras para el manejo del dolor postquirúrgico. Métodos. Se realizó una búsqueda sistemática en las bases de datos Scopus, Medline (Pubmed), Web of Science, The Cochrane Library y CINAHL de revisiones sistemáticas, ensayos clínicos aleatorizados y estudios cuasiexperimentales publicados en inglés y castellano hasta 2018 que analizaran la efectividad de las intervenciones educativas en el manejo del dolor postquirúrgico en pacientes adultos. Resultados. Doce estudios cumplieron criterios de inclusión, de los cuales nueve reportaron menor dolor en el grupo que recibió la intervención educativa. Estas intervenciones también ayudaron a disminuir el nivel de ansiedad y mejoraron la funcionalidad para realizar las actividades de la vida diaria. El nivel de calidad de los estudios fue medio. Conclusión. Aunque la revisión mostró que las intervenciones educativas enfermeras podrían influir en el alivio del dolor postquirúrgico, son necesarios estudios más rigurosos, con mayores tamaños muestrales y de mayor calidad metodológica que ayuden a establecer la real efectividad en el manejo del paciente postquirúrgico con dolor.

Embora a revisão mostrou que as intervenções educativas de enfermagem poderiam influir no alivio da dor pós-cirúrgico, são necessários estudos mais rigorosos, com maiores tamanhos de amostras e de maior qualidade metodológica, que ajudem a estabelecer a real efetividade no manejo do paciente pós-cirúrgico com dor.

RESUMEN Introducción: Las infecciones del sitio quirúrgico constituyen las más frecuentes infecciones relacionadas con los cuidados de la salud y la educación de los pacientes, y los cuidadores constituye un elemento esencial para su prevención. Objetivo: Evaluar los elementos esenciales relacionados con la participación de los pacientes en la prevención de las infecciones del sitio quirúrgico. Método: Utilizando como fuente de información PubMed y la Joint Comission International se sintetizaron los aspectos relacionados con la prevención de las infecciones del sitio quirúrgico. Desarrollo: La educación del paciente transcurre desde el periodo preoperatorio hasta la total recuperación del paciente y constituye un criterio requerido para acreditar los sistemas de gestión de la calidad en instituciones de salud. Debe enfocarse en la modificación positiva de riesgos como la higiene preoperatoria, la abstención del hábito de fumar, el control glicémico en pacientes diabéticos, el uso de medicación inmunosupresora, la movilización temprana de los pacientes, los cuidados de la herida y la identificación y manejo oportuno de infecciones. Conclusiones: Se debe promover la participación activa del paciente y su familia en los cuidados de salud y el uso de las tecnologías educativas disponibles(AU)


ABSTRACT Introduction: Surgical site infections are the most frequent infections associated with health care. The education of patients and caregivers is an essential element for their prevention. Objective: To evaluate the essential elements associated with the participation of patients in the prevention of surgical site infections. Method: Using PubMed and the Joint Commission International as a source of information, we synthesized aspects related to the prevention of surgical site infections. Development: Patient education is carried out from the preoperative period until the patient's full recovery and is a required criterion to accredit quality management systems in health institutions. It should focus on the positive modification of risks such as preoperative hygiene, abstention from smoking, glycemic control in diabetic patients, the use of immunosuppressive medication, early mobilization of patients, wound care, and identification and timely management of infections. Conclusions: The active participation of the patient and the family in health care and the use of available educational technologies should be promoted(AU)

La Organización Mundial de la Salud brinda recomendaciones para reducir las deficiencias en el tratamiento de la enfermedad mental; una de ellas es educar a la población. La evidencia disponible muestra que el conocimiento mejorado sobre la salud mental y los trastornos mentales, una mejor conciencia de cómo buscar ayuda y tratamiento, y la reducción del estigma contra las enfermedades mentales a nivel individual, comunitario e institucional, pueden promover la identificación temprana de los trastornos mentales, mejorar los resultados de salud mental y aumentar el uso de los servicios de salud. ABSTRACT

Introducción: una de cada seis mujeres que se embarazan es adolescente, el riesgo de muerte materna es el doble en razón de las mujeres en edad fértil. Los riesgos y daños se pueden presentar en la gestación, el parto, posparto y en el recién nacido. Objetivo: evaluar el efecto de una intervención basada en "Consejería en Salud Sexual y Reproductiva" para reducir riesgos en las adolescentes embarazadas durante el parto, posparto y neonato. Métodos: diseño cuasiexperimental con 170 adolescentes embarazadas seleccionadas por conveniencia de un hospital público. Se seleccionó un grupo de intervención (85) y un grupo control (85). Intervención: I) capacitación de facilitadores por Ipas México, II) instrumento con base en las cédulas de riesgo perinatal PREVIGen IV, V, VI y VIII, III) elaboración de material educativo, IV) procedimiento de recolección de información en tres fases. Resultados: el promedio de edad de las adolescentes embarazadas fue de 16.2 ± 0.66 años, nivel socioeconómico bajo (87%), escolaridad primaria (77%), unión libre (80%). Las adolescentes al inicio del trabajo de parto, fue en Grupo control 25.8% y Grupo intervención 9.4% (p = 0.019). Durante el trabajo de parto, fue significativa en valoración de la respuesta fetal (p = 0.007). Conclusión: la intervención educativa de enfermería basada en la Consejería en Salud Sexual y Reproductiva demostró tener un efecto positivo en la reducción de riesgos de las adolescentes embarazadas durante el parto, posparto y neonato.


Introduction: One out of every six women who become pregnant is adolescent; the risk of maternal death is twice that of women of childbearing age. The risks and damages can occur in pregnancy, delivery, postpartum and newborn. Objective: To evalúate the effect of an intervention based on "Sexual and Reproductive Health Counseling" to reduce risks in pregnant adolescents during delivery, postpartum and neonate. Methods: Quasi-experimental design with 170 pregnant adolescents selected for the convenience of a public hospital. An intervention group (85) and a control group (85) were selected. Intervention: I) training of facilitators by Ipas México, II) instrument based on the perinatal risk cards PREVIGEN IV, V, VI and VIII, III) preparation of educational material, IV) information collection procedure in three phases. Results: The average age of pregnant adolescents was 16.2 ± 0.66 years, low socioeconomic levels (87%), primary schooling (77%), free unión (80%). Adolescents at the beginning of labor were 25.8% in the control group and 9.4% in the intervention group p = 0.019). During labor, it was significant in the evaluation of the fetal response (p = 0.007). Conclusión: The educational nursing intervention based on the Ministry of Sexual and Reproductive Health, demonstrated to have a positive effect in the reduction of risks of pregnant adolescents during childbirth, postpartum and neonate.

ABSTRACT

Objetivo: elaborar e validar material educativo escrito e ilustrativo para homens em uso de cateter urinário de demora no ambiente domiciliar. Material e Método: letramento em saúde, educação em saúde, modelos de validação de conteúdo diagnóstico de Enfermagem e Suitability Assessment of Educational Materials (SAM) foram referenciais teóricos e metodológicos utilizados. Resultados e discussão: realizaram-se a validação de conteúdo e aparência do material com base na avaliação de 30 peritos. Quanto ao conteúdo, todas as orientações foram validadas com escore final igual ou superior a 0,80. A aparência foi avaliada positivamente em todos os itens por 89,7% dos peritos. As sugestões contribuíram sobremaneira para melhor qualidade do material. Conclusão: considera-se que a validação de conteúdo e aparência com base nos referenciais utilizados pode contribuir como método de validação de materiais educativos em saúde.(AU)

Results and discussion: the content and appearance of the material were validated based on the evaluation of 30 experts. Regarding the content, all guidelines were validated with a final score equal to or greater than 0.80. The appearance of the material was evaluated positively in all items by 89.7% of the experts. The suggestions have contributed greatly to increase the quality of the material. Conclusion: it is considered that the validation of content and appearance based on the references used can contribute as a validation method of educational materials in health.(AU)

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Since the introduction of hospital pharmacy residency programs in 1983, hospital pharmacists in South Korea have been expected to expand their roles. However, their services and the outcomes have not been fully understood. In this study, we conducted a systematic review of Korean hospital pharmacist-provided interventions with regard to intervention type, intervention consequences, and target patient groups. METHODS: A literature search of the following databases was performed: Embase, PubMed, Medline, KoreaMed, RISS, KMbase, KISS, NDSL, and KISTI. The search words were “hospital pharmacist”, “clinical pharmacist”, and “Korea”. Articles reporting clinical or economic outcome measures that resulted from hospital pharmacist interventions were considered. Numeric measures for the acceptance rate of pharmacist recommendations were subjected to meta-analysis. RESULTS: Of the 1,683 articles searched, 44 met the inclusion selection criteria. Most articles were published after 2000 (81.8%) and focused on clinical outcomes. Economic outcomes had been published since 2011. The interventions were classified as patient education, multidisciplinary team work, medication assessment, and guideline development. The outcome measures were physicians’ prescription changes, clinical outcomes, patient adherence, economic outcomes, and quality of life. The acceptance rate was 80.5% (p < 0.005). CONCLUSION: Studies on pharmacist interventions have increased and showed increased patient health benefits and reduced medical costs at Korean hospital sites. Because pharmacists' professional competency would be recognized if the economic outcomes of their work were confirmed and justified, studies on their clinical performance should also include their economic impact.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: A cross-sectional survey was conducted to explore the current awareness and use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), as well as attitudes toward CAM, in patients with cancer and their family members in South Korea. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between September 21 and October 31, 2017, a 25-item questionnaire regarding CAM experiences among cancer patients and their family members was conducted in 10 oncology clinics in South Korea after institutional review board approval at each institution. RESULTS: In total, 283/310 patients were analyzed. The median age was 60 years, and 60% were male. Most of the patients were actively receiving anticancer treatment at the time of the survey. A total of 106 patients (37%) had experienced a median of two types (interquartile range, 1 to 3) of CAM. Belief in CAM (odds ratio [OR], 3.015; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.611 to 5.640) and duration of disease (OR, 1.012; 95% CI, 1.004 to 1.020) were independent factors for using CAM in multivariable analysis. Belief in CAM was significantly associated with current use of CAM (OR, 3.633; 95% CI, 1.567 to 8.424). Lay referral was the most common reason for deciding to use CAM, and only 25% of patients (72/283) discussed CAM with their physicians. CONCLUSION: Patient attitudes toward and confidence in CAM modalities were strongly associated with their CAM experiences, and only a small number of patients had an open discussion about CAM with their physicians. A patient education program for CAM is needed.
