ABSTRACT

RESUMEN Se realizó un acercamiento teórico al problema actual de la hepatitis viral y los métodos dialíticos -desde el enfoque de la ciencia, la tecnología y la sociedad-, con el objetivo de resaltar la importancia de su prevención en los pacientes de riesgo. Se analizó cómo el desarrollo alcanzado por la ciencia, en particular en el campo de la Medicina, y el enorme avance tecnológico, permiten el empleo de medidas de soporte vital, como los métodos dialíticos de depuración extrarrenal. Pero, con ello, existe el alto riesgo de transmisión de la hepatitis como infección nosocomial, problema social al que urge buscar soluciones (AU).


ABSTRACT The authors theoretically approached the current problem of viral hepatitis and the dialytic methods -from the point of view of science, technology and society-, with the objective of pointing up the importance of its prevention in risk patients. They analyzed how the great development of the science, particularly in the field of medicine, and the enormous technological advance allow the usage of life support measures, like the dialytic methods of extra renal depuration. But, it involves a high risk of hepatitis transmission as nosocomial infection, a social problem that has to be urgently solved (AU).

ABSTRACT

Introducción : El desarrollo científico-tecnológico en el tratamiento de la caries dental hace necesario la sistematización del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje y una didáctica apropiada que permita que los educandos adquieran conocimientos y habilidades para su ejercicio. Objetivo : Diseñar y validar un instrumento para la medición de la correspondencia del plan de estudios y de la estrategia didáctica con las capacidades cognitivo-prácticas necesarias para el tratamiento de mínima intervención de la caries dental en la carrera de Estomatología. Métodos : Estudio de desarrollo tecnológico en el que participaron 28 expertos seleccionados sobre la base de su trayectoria docente, científica y experiencia en el tema. Los mismos ofrecieron sus opiniones a través de cuestionarios autogestionados respecto a la claridad, coherencia, precisión, relevancia y presentación del instrumento mencionado. Se empleó la Razón de validez de contenido, por el método de Tristán y el índice de validación de contenido. Resultados : La totalidad de los ítems fueron válidos en los 4 criterios medidos, por lo que coincidieron los índices de validación de contenido global y aceptable. El instrumento mostró coherencia, precisión y relevancia la claridad con cifras de índice de validación de contenido de 0,90; 0,93; 0,92; y 0,94, respectivamente. Conclusiones : Se diseñó y validó un instrumento efectivo en contenido y presentación, por lo que está disponible para continuar con la siguiente etapa para su aprobación final(AU)


Introduction: Scientific and technological development in the treatment of dental caries requires systematization of the teaching-learning process and an appropriate methodology fostering the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary for professional practice. Objective: Design and validate a tool to measure the correspondence of the curriculum and the didactic strategy to the cognitive-practical capacities required for the minimal intervention treatment of dental caries in undergraduate dental training. Methods: A technological development study was conducted with 28 experts selected for their teaching experience, their scientific background and their knowledge about the topic. The experts contributed their opinions through self-administered questionnaires about the clarity, coherence, accuracy, relevance and layout of the tool. Use was made of content validity ratio by the Tristan method and the content validation index. Results: All the items were found to be valid in terms of the four criteria measured, showing agreement between global and acceptable content validation indices. The tool exhibited coherence, accuracy, relevance and clarity, with content validation index values of 0.90, 0.93, 0.92 and 0.94, respectively. Conclusions: A tool was designed and validated which is effective for its content and presentation. It is therefore available for final validation(AU)

Abstract The Innovation Centers are one of the arms of a nation's technological development. Due to their characteristics and objectives, these centers are equipped with laboratories, equipment and researchers capable of developing a product from basic research to the installation of the solution in the field. Entering the context of Innovation Centers and knowing how to correctly position the level of technological maturity is one of the challenges to be understood and explored. In order to advance the market phase, it is recommended to form alliances with technology-based companies to provide both production and commercialization of these technologies, even more if it is possible to create a spinoff from these centers, to take advantage of the experience, knowledge and skills already acquired over time.

RESUMEN Los pacientes con infección intrabdominal en unidad de cuidados intensivos representan un reto diagnóstico y terapéutico, tanto en el mundo como en Cuba y es responsable del aumento de un periodo de invalidez transitoria y de mortalidad de una parte de los pacientes. El objetivo del artículo fue profundizar en los conocimientos actuales sobre el tratamiento de la infección intrabdominal en la unidad de cuidados intensivos. Se realizó revisión tipo exploratorio-descriptivo para profundizar el tema y se consultaron fuentes primarias y secundarias de información de las bases de datos Scopus, Medline, Cochrane, Hinary y Redalyc bajo los criterios de sus revisores. La infección intrabdominal en los pacientes bajo cuidados intensivos suscita un mal pronóstico, por lo que requiere de un diagnóstico oportuno y un tratamiento eficaz. Los índices de mortalidad en estos enfermos apenas han decrecido a pesar de los avances tecnológicos(AU)


ABSTRACT Patients with intraabdominal infection in the intensive care unit represent a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge, both in Cuba and worldwide. Such condition is responsible for the increase in the period of temporary disability and mortality in part of the patients. The aim of the article was to deepen the current knowledge on treatment of intraabdominal infection in the intensive care unit. An exploratory-descriptive review was carried out to deepen the subject and primary and secondary sources of information were consulted from the Scopus, Medline, Cochrane, Hinary and Redalyc databases, following the criteria of their reviewers. Intraabdominal infection in patients under intensive care presents poor prognosis, which requires prompt diagnosis and effective treatment. Mortality rates in these patients have barely decreased despite technological advances(AU)

Introdução: O avanço tecnológico da sociedade, nos últimos anos, exigiu uma atualização por parte dos indivíduos na perspectiva de atender às novas demandas nos setores sociais, inclusive na área da saúde. As Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação são ferramentas que possibilitam novas interações e criações de espaços favoráveis ao processo de ensino-aprendizagem, atuando como facilitadoras na construção e troca do conhecimento, estimulando o exercício da autonomia dos sujeitos envolvidos. Objetivo: analisar os achados da produção científica sobre a inserção das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação no processo de Educação Permanente dos enfermeiros no período de 2008 e 2018. Métodos: trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura. Para a seleção dos artigos utilizou-se as bases de dados PubMed e LILACS, a partir da questão norteadora: quais as contribuições das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação para a Educação Permanente dos enfermeiros? Para análise e interpretação dos dados, optou-se pela categorização temática. Conclusões: as referências selecionadas mostraram as tecnologias digitais como ferramentas educacionais relevantes para a educação permanente dos enfermeiros, sendo capazes de potencializar a aquisição de conhecimento dos profissionais(AU)


Introducción: El avance tecnológico de la sociedad en los últimos años ha requerido una actualización por parte de los individuos para satisfacer las nuevas demandas en los sectores sociales, incluso en el área de la salud. Las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación son herramientas que permiten nuevas interacciones y creaciones de espacios favorables al proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, actuando como facilitadores en la construcción e intercambio de conocimiento, estimulando el ejercicio de autonomía de los sujetos involucrados. Objetivo: Analizar los hallazgos de la producción científica sobre la inserción de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación en el proceso de educación permanente de los enfermeros en el período de 2008 y 2018. Métodos: Revisión integrativa de la literatura. Para la selección de los artículos se utilizaron las bases de datos PubMed y LILACS, a partir de la pregunta orientadora: ¿cuál es la contribución de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación a la educación permanente de los enfermeros? Para el análisis e interpretación de los datos se optó por la categorización temática. Conclusiones: Las referencias seleccionadas mostraron las tecnologías digitales como herramientas educativas relevantes para la educación permanente de los enfermeros, y capaces de potenciar la adquisición de conocimiento de los profesionales(AU)


Introduction: The society's technological advance in recent years has required an update from the individuals' performance to meet new demands in the social sectors, including the area of health. Information and communication technologies are tools that allow new interactions and the creation of spaces favorable to the teaching-learning process, acting as facilitators in the construction and exchange of knowledge, stimulating the exercise of autonomy of the subjects involved. Objective: To analyze the findings according to the scientific production about the insertion of information and communication technologies into the process of permanent education of nurses in the period from 2008 to 2018. Methods: Integrative literature review. For the selection of the articles, the databases PubMed and LILACS were used, based on the following guiding question: What is the contribution of information and communication technologies to the permanent education of nurses? For the analysis and interpretation of the data, we chose thematic categorization. Conclusions: The selected references showed digital technologies as relevant educational tools for the permanent education of nurses, being capable of promoting the acquisition of knowledge by professionals(AU)

ABSTRACT

Atualmente, o teleatendimento ou teleconsulta é vedado pelo Código de Ética Médica brasileiro. O rápido e progressivo avanço de novas tecnologias de comunicação à distância, principalmente pela internet, abriu inúmeras possibilidades - tanto para médicos como para pacientes - de troca de informações e diálogos em forma de texto ou voz, inclusive de transmissão de imagens fixas e em movimento, em tempo real ou não. Esses avanços tecnológicos, incontestáveis e inevitáveis, obrigam a Ética Médica a uma adaptação aos novos tempos. Assim, o Conselho Federal de Medicina vem estudando uma resolução que tente disciplinar esse tipo de atendimento. O principal obstáculo para o teleatendimento é a necessidade de uma adequada relação médico-paciente e o estabelecimento de uma relação de confiança mútua, as quais se estabelecem na anamnese bem feita, na avaliação do paciente em seus aspectos bio-psico-social (inclusive de sua linguagem corporal) e num exame físico bem feito, o que só é possível no contato direto entre o médico e o doente


Telemedical care (distance medicine technology) is currently forbidden by the Brazilian Code of Medical Ethics. The fast-moving and progressive advancement of new distance communication technologies, especially over the Internet, has opened up numerous possibilities in clinical practice - for both doctors and patients - to exchange information in the form of text or voice, including the transmission of still or moving images, whether in real time or not. These undeniable and unavoidable technological advances are leading the Medical Ethics to adjust to the new times. Thus, the Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine has been giving particular attention to a resolution that attempts to discipline this type of care. The main obstacle to telemedical care is the need for an adequate doctor/patient relationship, with the establishment of mutual trust, which takes place in the anamnesis, in the patient's evaluation, in the bio-psycho-social aspects (including body language) as well as thorough physical examination, which is only possible in the direct contact between the doctor and the patient

ABSTRACT

La cirugía de catarata actual se ha convertido en una cirugía refractiva, pues se busca además la corrección del defecto refractivo tanto esférico como cilíndrico en el mismo proceder y, por tanto, la emetropía sin corrección óptica en todas las distancias. Para esto debemos tener una verdadera lectura del astigmatismo corneal total y una identificación correcta del meridiano a tratar. Hoy en día existen dispositivos de avanzada tecnología capaces de brindar estos y otros datos preoperatorios e intraoperatorios de gran confiabilidad. Algunos de estos sistemas como Verion, Callisto Eye y el TrueGuide, utilizan la topografía corneal con registro del limbo y, luego de capturar una imagen preoperatoria, la recuerdan durante la cirugía para generar el meridiano objetivo en un monitor o a través del microscopio quirúrgico, y de esta manera ayudar en la alineación precisa de la lente intraocular tórica. Incluso pueden ofrecer imágenes tridimensionales en vivo. Otros, por su parte, utilizan la aberrometría de frente de onda intraoperatoria para ayudar al cirujano a elegir el poder de la lente intraocular tórica y luego alinearla, como los sistemas ORA y Holos IntraOp. Estos instrumentos proporcionan retroalimentación refractiva continua en tiempo real para la corrección astigmática en el mismo acto quirúrgico. Sin dudas, estos sistemas son parte de una revolución tecnológica dentro del campo de la cirugía del cristalino actual que posibilitan una mayor precisión y predicción de los resultados refractivos y constituyen elementos imprescindibles si queremos conseguir una cirugía de catarata de excelencia. Se realiza esta revisión con el objetivo de obtener información acerca de los sistemas de imágenes de alta tecnología que se usan hoy día en la cirugía del cristalino y mostrar sus potencialidades para obtener resultados refractivos posoperatorios más exactos(AU)


Current cataract surgery has become refractive surgery, for it is also aimed at correcting both spherical and cylindrical refractive defects in the same procedure, thus achieving emmetropia without optical correction at all distances. For this we must have a true reading of the total corneal astigmatism and a correct identification of the meridian to be treated. Today there are advanced technological devices capable of providing these and other preoperative and intraoperative data with great reliability. Some of these systems, such as Verion, Callisto Eye and TrueGuide, use corneal topography with limbus registration and after capturing a preoperative image, they remember it during surgery to generate the target meridian on a monitor or through the surgical microscope, thus helping achieve precise alignment of the toric intraocular lens. They can even offer live three-dimensional images. Others, such as the ORA and Holos IntraOp systems, use intraoperative wavefront aberrometry to help the surgeon choose the power of the toric intraocular lens and then align it. These instruments provide continuous refractive feedback in real time for astigmatic correction in the same surgical act. Undoubtedly, these systems are part of a technological revolution within the field of current crystalline lens surgery that enable greater precision and prediction of refractive results and are essential elements if we want to achieve cataract surgery of excellence. This review was conducted to obtain information about high-technology imaging systems currently used in crystalline lens surgery, and show their potential to achieve more accurate postoperative refractive results(AU)

RESUMEN Introducción: La cultura profesional y la rápida fluctuación del conocimiento, representa para la enfermería un gran desafío en la práctica, la gerencia, la investigación y sobre todo en la docencia. Objetivo: Sistematizar la "cultura profesional del docente de enfermería" para enfrentar los nuevos retos tecnológicos relacionados con las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones, específicamente los entornos virtuales de enseñanza aprendizaje. Métodos: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sistemática para desarrollar un análisis crítico reflexivo del contenido de documentos, artículos originales y de revisión de literatura impresa y disponible en Internet, así como de tesis de maestrías y doctorado publicados entre 2000 y 2016 en español portugués e inglés. La búsqueda fue realizada en las bases de datos Medline y SciELO de enero a mayo de 2016, las palabras clave utilizadas fueron "Cultura profesional and Enfermería", "Cultura profesional and docente", "Cultura profesional and docente de enfermería". Tras la identificación de los estudios pre-seleccionados se llevó a cabo la lectura de los títulos, resumen y palabras clave, comprobando la pertinencia con el estudio. Conclusión: Existen regularidades en la literatura revisada, en el que están implícitos el comportamiento social del docente, el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje, las transformaciones imperantes y la preparación de los mismos, lo que hace que el docente incorpore las tecnologías a su acervo cultural(AU)


ABSTRACT Introduction: Professional culture and the quick fluctuation of knowledge represent a great challenge for nursing in practice, management, research, and especially in teaching. Objective: To systematize the "professional culture of the nursing teacher" to face the new technological challenges associated with the information and communication technologies, specifically the virtual learning-teaching environments. Methods: A systematic bibliographic review was carried out to develop a reflexive and critical analysis of the content found in documents, original and review articles among printed literature available on the Internet, as well as master's and doctoral dissertations published between 2000 and 2016 whether in Spanish, Portuguese, or English. The search was carried out in the Medline and SciELO databases from January to May 2016; the key words used were Cultura profesional and Enfermería [Professional culture and Nursing], Cultura profesional and docente [Professional and teaching culture], and Cultura profesional and docente de enfermería [Professional culture and nursing teaching]. After the identification of the pre-selected studies, the titles, summary and the key words were read, verifying the relevance with the study.Conclusion: There are regularities in the reviewed literature, in which the teacher's social behavior, the teaching-learning process, the prevailing transformations, and their training are implicit, which makes the teacher incorporate technologies into their cultural heritage(AU)

ABSTRACT

El desarrollo extraordinario de la tecnología, los resultados de la innovación tecnológica y más aún en el campo de las ciencias informáticas y las telecomunicaciones, hacen de la realización de proyectos de investigación algo cotidiano en las organizaciones empresariales e instituciones públicas. La mayoría de las veces los resultados de estas investigaciones, así como otras informaciones de carácter general son presentados en plataformas web, haciendo uso de gestores de contenido por las ventajas que ofrecen estos con respecto a su alcance y fácil manipulación para mantenerlos actualizados, evidenciándose en una mayor productividad de la entidad al emplearlos. Es por esta razón que se hace imprescindible que las instituciones se interesen por las redes de computación, el mantenimiento y la seguridad requerida para la utilización de los gestores de contenido. Con el fin de prestar atención a este último aspecto (la seguridad), es que el presente trabajo aborda una serie de aspectos que tanto programadores, como administradores de red deben manejar para mejorar la toma de decisiones a la hora de proteger la información expuesta en Web basadas en sistemas gestores de contenido, y en específico aquellas basadas en Joomla!(AU)


The extraordinary development of technology, the results of technological innovation and even more in the field of computer science and telecommunications, make the realization of research projects something every day in business organizations and public institutions. Most of the time the results of this research, as well as other general information are presented in web platforms, making use of content managers because of the advantages they offer with respect to their scope and easy manipulation to keep them updated, evidenced in greater productivity of the entity when using them. It is for this reason that it is essential that institutions are interested in the computer networks, maintenance and security required for the use of content managers. In order to pay attention to this last aspect (security), it is that the present work shows a series of aspects that both programmers and network administrators must manage to improve decision making in protecting the information exposed in Web-based content management systems, and specifically those based on Joomla!(AU)

Durante los últimos veinte años, la administración pública y, en particular sus organizaciones sanitarias han puesto de relieve numerosas debilidades en el manejo eficiente de los recursos que no necesariamente aparecían como tales en sus boletines estadísticos. Fallas importantes como la sostenibilidad de buenos sistemas de salud, notable presencia de eventos adversos o una variabilidad no justificada de la práctica clínica, hicieron evidente el hecho de que lo importante no era cuánto dinero se tenía, sino que se hacía con este. Como respuesta, empezaron a asimilar tecnologías que habían resultado exitosas en otros sectores y que podían incorporarse creativamente en este contexto. Un enfoque de gestión es uno diferente a uno de recortes, no se trata de suspender servicios, limitar el acceso o introducir el copago, sino eliminar todo aquello que no crea valor para el paciente, pero consume tiempo y recursos. Desde finales del siglo xx y lo que va del actual, la gerencia en salud ha permitido a las organizaciones sanitarias públicas que la han incorporado, crecer en calidad y en oportunidad de hacer más y mejor salud con menos recursos. Como en todas las cosas, las sombras acompañan a las luces y a veces prevalece la oscuridad, por lo cual es importante conocerlas y saberlas enfrentar(AU)


During the last twenty years, a number of failures in the efficient management of resources have been brought to light in the public administration and particularly its healthcare organizations, but these ones were not generally shown in the statistical bulletins. Significant failures such as problems in sustainability of good health systems, many adverse events as a sign of poor quality care, or unjustified variation in medical practice made it clear that the main problem was not the amount of money you have, rather; what you do with that money. As a benchmarking approach, many successful management technologies from other sectors began to be tailored for using them in the public health care organizations. A management approach is something different from budgets cuts; it has nothing to do with eliminating services, restricting access or introducing co-payment; it deals with everything that does not create values for the patient and consume time and resources. Since the end of the 20th century up to now, health management has allowed those public health organizations which have it in place to raise quality and to create opportunities to doing more in health improvement with fewer resources. As it usually happens, the darkness and the light coexist and, sometimes, darkness prevails. That is why it is so important to identify it and to learn how to face it(AU)

ABSTRACT

Rhodococcus equi é o agente etiológico da rodococose equina, importante doença respiratória de potros. Especialmente na última década, a emergência de cepas resistentes aos antimicrobianos empregados no tratamento da rodococose tem sido relatada. Nesse sentido, há a necessidade de estudos envolvendo terapias alternativas e novas tecnologias, incluindo o uso de plantas medicinais e nanotecnologia. Neste trabalho utilizou-se Melaleuca alternifolia nas seguintes formulações: óleo livre, nanocápsula, nanoemulsão e a combinação de óleo livre com nanocápsula e com nanoemulsão, além do seu composto majoritário, terpinen-4-ol, a fim de verificar a atividade antimicrobiana frente a isolados de R. equi de diferentes origens. Utilizou-se o método de microdiluição em caldo na determinação das concentrações inibitória mínima (CIM) e bactericida mínima (CBM) das diferentes formulações frente aos isolados (n=24). Verificou-se baixo potencial para atividade antibacteriana de M. alternifolia na formulação de óleo livre. Todavia, essa atividade foi potencializada quando se incorporou o óleo essencial às nanoformulações. O composto terpinen-4-ol demonstrou potencial atividade antibacteriana quando incorporado ao óleo essencial e quando utilizado isoladamente. Verificou-se que tanto M. alternifolia quanto terpinen-4-ol testados possuem atividade antimicrobiana contra isolados de R. equi, sugerindo seu emprego em estudos avaliando seu potencial para o tratamento da rodococose.


Rhodococcus equi causes rodococose in horses, characterized by bronchopneumonia in foals. Due to reports of antimicrobial resistance, it is important to develop studies involving alternative therapies and new technologies, including the use of medicinal plants and nanotechnology. In this work, the plant Melaleuca alternifolia in oil free formulations, nanocapsule, nanoemulsion and the combination of free and nanocapsule oil nanoemulsion, besides its major compound, terpinen-4-ol, were used in order to verify antimicrobial activity against isolates of R. equi. The broth microdilution method was employed to determine the minimum inhibitory (MIC) and minimum bactericidal (MBC) concentrations of different formulations against 24 isolates. There was low antibacterial activity of M. alternifolia in oil free formulation; however, it was observed that the activity was enhanced when incorporated as essential oil the nanoformulations. The major compound, terpinen-4-ol, showed bactericidal and bacteriostatic activity when used alone. It is suggested that M. alternifolia, in association with nanocarriers systems, as well as terpinen -4-ol, presents potential for future studies concerning the equine rodococosis therapy.

ABSTRACT

Se realizó un estudio de innovación tecnológica en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey (UCM-C), entre septiembre de 2012 y mayo de 2013, con el objetivo de rediseñar el sistema automatizado para el control de los expedientes docentes de los residentes. Para ello se aplicó una encuesta a especialistas que trabajan en el departamento de Secretaría Docente, con el propósito de determinar las dificultades que se presentan en el trabajo con la base de datos actual. Luego se diseñaron las entidades, consultas e informes a añadir. El rediseño se realizó mediante Erwin/Studio. El sistema gestor de base de datos utilizado fue Microsoft Access. La base final da respuesta a las necesidades detectadas. Su estructura se implementó según interfaces que permiten la gestión de información correspondiente. La fase de prueba y evaluación del software arrojaron resultados positivos. Se recomienda su evaluación según criterio de especialistas con vistas a su generalización.


A technological innovation study was conducted in the University of Medical Sciences in Camaguey province from September 2012 through May 2013. The objective was to re-design the automated system for the control of educational records of the resident physicians. To this end, the specialists working at the admission office were surveyed to determine the existing difficulties with the present databases. Then the entities, consultations and reports to be added were designed. The Erwin/Studio was used for the redesigning. Microsoft Access was used for the managing system of databases. The final databases responded to the detected requirements. Its structure was implemented by interfaces allowing the corresponding information management. Testing and evaluation phase of the software yielded positive outcomes. It is recommended to evaluate the software according to experts' criteria with a view to generalizing the results.
