RESUMEN

Five fluoro-uracil was instilled postoperatively in seventy cases of primary and recurrent pterygia. Five fluoro-uracil was used four times daily for four weeks in a concentration of five mg/ml. The cases were followed up for 8 months. The results of the study showed the efficacy of five fluoro-uracil in reducing the recurrence rate of pterygium

RESUMEN

Workers employed in ammonia nitrate fertilizer plant were examined ophthalmologically to study the effects of exposure to ammonia fumes on their eyes. Ocular examination among exposed workers revealed a higher incidence of pterygia, abacterial conjunctivitis and corneal lesions. It was sure clinically and experimentally that ammonia concentration in the permissible concentrations may affect the eye if exposed to a long duration and that prednisolone in the therapeutic dose can prevent ocular hazards in experimental animals
