RESUMEN

Tuberculosis is a public health problem in Morocco, this article will examine the different aspects of tuberculosis in the youth population within the range of 0 to 15 years old spread over the period when incidence was at 110 cases for 100 000 habitants


Patients and Methods: 465 tuberculous cases were gathered from 1984 to 1988 in the infectious disease department, child hospital, Rabat; Tuberculous diagnosis was based on 2 criteria: Certainty elements such as the KB presence, specific tuberculous histological lesions, 2. On the basis of strong suppositions no vaccination, recent military TB or mediastinal lymphadenopathy, lungs lesions not improved by antibiotic treatments for a patient who has a strong exposure to contacts infected by the KB


Resultats: 70% of the paients are too low in calories and 22% of those are malnourished. The contagion is likely to be present in 60% cases. The lung is the most trageted localisation and the primo-infection is likely to be present in 231 cases. Tuberculous lymphadenopathy is the frequent with extrapulmonary tuberculosis. positive KB in 40% of cases. 28 patients died [6%], among those the meninginal TB is the cause of death in 50% cases


Conclusion:Tubercolosis is wide spread and serious infection specially in children. From a public health standpoint regarding the prevention, many measures can place take like improving of socio-economic level, screening and treating infected people [positive TB] and BCG vaccination
