RESUMEN

Cervical cancer is a preventable disease and we can determin preventive methods by discovering ethiology of disease. There are no appropriate research about the relation between coitus during menstruation and cervical cancer in Iran. This study is done to investigate the relationship between coitus during menstruation and cervical cancer in Iran. This study is done to investigate the relationship between coitus during menstruation and cervical cancer in women referring to health care centers of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in 2007-2008. This case-control study was carried out on 100 patients with cervical cancer [case] and 100 healthy women [control]. All participates were Moslem with Iranian nationality and habitant in Iran. They had no previous history of frequent pelvic radiotherapy and alcohol consumption. Two groups were matched with: age, age of first coitus, age of first vaginal delivery, parity and type of delivery. Data was collected through structured interview and analyzed using Chi-square and logistic-regression. The study showed that 40% of case group and 10% of control group had coitus during menstruation. Coitus during menstruation in case group was 6 times more than control group [p<0.0001, odds ratio=6.0, CI=2.7-12.9]. Coitus during menstruation may increase the risk of cervical cancer. A research is recommended to find out the best educational method which to prevent this disease

RESUMEN

To evaluate the analgesic effect of detomidinehydrochloride administered by caudal epidural injectionand probable alteration in clinical parameters. Experimental study. Ten healthy adult Holstein were used for thisstudy. A dose of 0.04 mg/kg detomidine [diluted to 5ml normal saline] was injected into sacro-coccygealepidural space. The onset and duration of analgesia wereassessed using pinprick test. The heart and respiratoryrates, rectal temperature and ruminal movements wererecorded at 10 min intervals until recovery. Despite a deep sedation, massive salivation andmild ataxia in the hind limbs, moderate analgesia occurredin the perineal region. No ruminal movements wereobserved after injection. The heart and respiratory ratessignificantly decreased. However, no significant changewas found in rectal temperature. The results of this experimentshowed that the epidural injection of detomidine is safe, but might not provide sufficient surgical analgesia

RESUMEN

This study was conducted to evaluate the onset, duration of action and potency of cis-atracurium in dogs. Ten apparently healthy dogs of various breeds were used in this study. The age and weight of the dogs were 3.2 +/- 2.4 year and 17.7 +/- 4.8 kg, respectively. All dogs pre-medicated with acepromazine 0.05 mg/kg and morphine 0.5 mg/kg. After induction of general anesthesia with thiopental, the dogs were intubated and anesthesia maintained with halothane in oxygen. After reaching good depth of anesthesia, cis-atracurium were injected intravenously at the dose of 0.1 mg/kg and neuromuscular blockade [NMB] evaluated by counting visual responses to train-of-four [TOF] nerve stimulation on ulnar nerve. All four responses eliminated in 9 out of 10 dogs. The onset was 4.8 +/- 1.3 min and the duration of NMB lasted for 24.4 +/- 9 min. The quality of relaxation was good according to surgeons. It is concluded that cis-atracurium is an effective neuromuscular blocking agent in the dog, although its potency varies slightly in different dogs

RESUMEN

The present study was conducted on 5 healthy adult sheep [ovis] of either sex, weighting 30-60 kg to evaluate effects of detomidine hydrochloride on cardiovascular and hemodynamic status. Detomidine hydrochloride was injected intravenously at rate of 91.1+ 4.02 g/kg and the following parameters, Heart rate, MAP, SP, DP, CVP, RR. Temperature. ECG, Blood gases. PH, and Bicarbonate were monitored before and 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes after administration. Evaluation was done by using standard techniques. Periodic venous blood samples were also collected for determination of PCV, Haemoglobin, blood glucose, BUN, Creatinine, Total protein, Sodium, Potassium and Calcium. Effective sedation with detomidine hydrochloride caused significant transient hypotension and bradycardia followed by tachycardia, hypoxia without hypercapnia. Immediate fall of 47% in mean arterial pressure [MAP] and 36% at 5 minutes after administration of detomidine hydrochloride was considered to be the characteristic features of cardiovascular effects of drug along with slight increased in CVP, decreased in pao2 and pvo2 with almost unaffected paCO2, All reflexes were abolished except corneal and anal pinch, there was no response to external stimuli and pin prick. All the animals survived within observation period of 60 minutes. There was no significant changes in other haemodynamic parameters except significant hyperglycemia was observed in all the animals that were studied

RESUMEN

In 24th April 1991 an eight year old female local breed cattle, with complete absence of rumination, appetite lactation, and defecation was referred to the large animal clinic of faculty of veterinary medicine, university of Tehran. The physical examination revealed intestinal obstruction. The major symptoms were dehydration, complete absence of defecation, no feces in the rectum on rectal examination. Diagnosis was confirmed by exploratory laparatomy. Surgical treatment was successful
