RESUMEN

Burnout syndrome includes aspects of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and decrement of personal accomplishment. Medical and health care staffs are vulnerable to burnout syndrome because of their exposure to physical and psychological stressors. The present study assessed the rate of aspects of burnout syndrome and its relations to demographic characteristics in staffs of health care centers of Mashhad. In this descriptive-analytical study we evaluated staffs of 30 health centers of Mashhad in 1385. Data was collected using the demographic questionnaire and Maslach Burnout Inventory [MBI]. MBI is a Likert rating scale to assess different aspects of burnout. Data was statistically analyzed using SPSS and appropriate descriptive and analytic statistical tests. This study showed that 24.5% of staffs had high rates of emotional exhaustion, 0.7% had high rates of depersonalization and 6.7% of subjects experienced the low rates of personal accomplishment. There were significant correlation between emotional exhaustion and depersonalization [P=0.000] and between personal accomplishment and emotional exhaustion [p=0.008]. Emotional exhaustion and depersonalization had significant convert correlation with age of staffs [P=0.015 and P=0.010]. Only depersonalization was significantly higher in men than women [P=0.035]. High emotional exhaustion in staffs of health care centers in comparison with other reports was prominent and needs to close attention, but other aspects of burnout were in good position in them

Today emotional intelligence is considered as a new subject in the field of psychology. Studies that have been done in this area indicated the importance of emotional intelligence and its components in different aspects of individuals' life such as education, marriage, employment and social relationship. the method of the present research that has been done in Islamic Azad university of Kashmar in 1385-86 is descriptive. Statistical sample includes 112 clinical psychology students selected by simple random sampling. The Bar-on questionnaire of emotional intelligence was used for gathering information. The mean scores of students were used as an index for academic achievement. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient and independent t test. Results indicated that the relationship between academic achievement and emotional intelligence and some of its components was significant, p<0.05. Also there were significant relationship between age and emotional intelligence p<0.01, and some of its components, p<0.05. Moreover results showed no significant relationship between emotional intelligence and sex, in spite of difference in sub-scales of emotional intelligence among girls and boys, p<0.05. In addition to global cognitive abilities, students may have perfect development on many aspects such as controlling emotions and affects for reaching high levels of academic achievement; it means that students can not have optimum academic achievement without reaching these components that make emotional intelligence

Students' life as a new situation may predispose many stressors for them. Social norms, new friends and living far from family and new expectation of them, are factors that distort their adjustment and make them using many coping styles such as problem-centered and emotional-centered for new adaptation. Meanwhile, there are many supportive systems as family, friends and significant others that help them in coping. The present article tries to study the perceived stress, coping styles and supportive resources in students. Present research is a survey one. Using multi-stage sampling, the sample volume estimated about 340 according to krejcie and Morgan formula. Three questionnaires were used for data gathering; Sarafino daily hassles questionnaire, Moss and Belings coping styles questionnaire and multidimensional perceived social support. Results showed no significant relationship between stress and problem-centered coping but significant with emotional-centered style [P<0/05]. Moreover there were no difference between males and females in problem-centered style but significance in emotional centered [P<0/05] and there were significant relationship between stress with total social support and family support [P<0/05] and with significant others [P<0/01]. Sex differences in social support was significant at [P<0/05] and in significant others support [P<0/01]. There was no relationship in other variables. According to results, and vital role of coping styles with stress for making psychosocial adaptation of people, it is necessary for families as the first educational center to have more supporting role in teaching coping styles for better adaptation of their children

Depression is a serious and prevalent disorder known with persistent pathology of mood as the main symptom. Lifetime prevalence of depression is up to 25 percent. In different studies depression symptoms pattern of patients is reported different by sex, age, season and place and '. For this reason in this study we evaluate the differences of depression symptoms pattern by season. In a prospective descriptive study all of the patients that come to psychiatric clinic of Imam-Reza Hospital in winter of 1382 and summer of 1383 with chief Complaint of depression and were entered to the study all of the patients visited by a psychiatrist and for all of them we were filled both demographic information questionnaire and Beck Depression Inventory [BDI]. Data From different items of depression based on BDI were compared in two groups of winter and summer with 15 percent sensitivity. 101 patients with mean age of 28.94 years enter to the study; mean score of BDI was 27.64 with standard deviation of 12.43. There was no meaningful difference between severity of depression among two groups of winter and summer although items of preoccupation with body and somatic health meaningfully were in winter then in summer [P=0.03]. Total score of BDI in male and female patients were not different meaningfully [without relation to the season], but items of difficulty in beginning of the work [P=0.008] and diminished sexual desire [P=0.018] were meaningfully upper in men than in women. Mean of total score of depression in rural patients were meaningfully upper than urban patients too [P=0.025]. In this study there was no difference between depression symptoms patterns of patients by sex and season

Family as a social system can develop the personality and adjustment of its members by meeting their affective, physical and mental needs. many implications may be considered by theorists, trainers and mental health care personnel; because social behavior in community and family and how to deal with their members, stress, disruption in relations, lack of control on them can lead to low self esteem, low independence, and problem in decision-making and socialization. This study tries to examine the effectiveness of family life skills education on mental health variables [family stress and social acceptance]. Present study is a quasi-experimental model with pretest-posttest single group design.15 groups [each group comprised of 7-15 members] of family life skills education in governmental and nongovernmental centers were studied. These educational sessions were administered weekly in second half of 1383 and first half of 1384. Two scales that administered on sample group were Coodron family stress scale and Crown and Marlow social acceptance test. Using t-test, results of statistical analysis showed that the difference between pretest ant posttest on mental health variables were significant [for family stress 6 groups, p<0.05 and for social acceptance 4 groups p<0.05 and 2 groups p<0.01].Then family life skills education can promote the mental health indexes. According to research results, family life skills education is an essential component in promoting mental health in community
