RESUMEN

7 Arylazo-8- hydroxquinoline-5-sulphonic acid derivatives were prepared and their ionization constants were determined. The stability constants of La [III] complexes with these dyes have been determined potentiometrically. Conductometric measurements were done to investigate the stoichiometric ratios of the complexes. The solid complexes were prepared and their structure was investigated applying elemental -IR, and Thermogravimetric analysis

RESUMEN

Trivalent Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Ho, Er, Yb and Y form MLn [n= 1-3] complexes in solution with 7-phenylazo-[I], 7[p-chlorophenylazo]-[II], 7 [p- bromophenylazo]-[III] and 7 [p-iodophenylazo]-8-hydroxyquinoline-5- sulphonic acid [IV]. The stability constants of the complexes were determined potentiometrically and correlated to the ionic potential, atomic number, ionization potential and electronegativity of the central metal ion. Solid complexes of [I] with the lanthanide ions have been prepared and their structure is studied by elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, IR spectroscopy and conductance measurements

RESUMEN

Molecular complexes of 1-hydrazinophthalazine with some aromatic nitro compounds are prepared and investigated applying IR and electronic absorption spectroscopy. The results revealed that complex formation takes place only through pi-electron transfer in case of non-acidic and weak acidic acceptors. With strong acidic acceptors the reaction occurs through both electron and proton transfer; the phthalazine ring being the moiety involved in the reaction. The charge transfer energies for some of the complexes are calculated from the electronic absorption spectra
