RESUMEN
We wish to emphasize that old and debilitated prostatic patients with complicating cardiocirculatory pathology should not be doomed to a catheter life and thus deprived of the advantages of recent advances made in medicine and surgery. With thorough evaluation of the cardiac status, an adequate preoperative cardiac preparation and the employment of edoscopic prostatic surgery, it is now possible to make the remaining days of these erstwhile unfortunate patients, not only longer, but also happier. RESUMEN
One of the legitimate triumphs of modern Urology is the repair and rehabilitation of damaged kidneys that in the past were considered unsalvageable and thus sacrificed. The decision of whether to remove a damaged kidney or not ceases to be a matter of choice when the kidney involved is a solitary one, congenitally or acquired. When the issue on hand assumed such a tremendous importance as to seriously affect the life span of a given patient, we suddenly realize that ours is an overwhelming responsibility that should be met with an equal amount of courage and competence.
