According to WHO, the UAE is among the top ten countries where the disease is prevalent. A sedentary lifestyle and bad eating habits have been blamed for the increasing prevalence of diabetes in the UAE. Results indicate that most subjects' awareness about fundamentals and complications of diabetes diseases was low, so the people need better education about diabetes. From the data collected it is evident that people in Ajman are not aware of the severe complications diabetes can cause if it is not controlled. So it is imperative that the authorities take up mass education program which would go a long way in the prevention and management of diabetes in the Gulf region and UAE in particular
