RESUMEN
Effect of short and long term use of oral contraceptives on serum proteins has been studied. Serum total protein showed a significant rise in all the subjects. Serum albumin was found to increase initially globulin followed by a decrease, on the contrary serum showed a progressive increase in general. The aplha1, aplha2, and gamma-globulin fractions showed no significant variation, although increased slightly with duration of the use of oral contraceptive. The forced vital capacity [FEV1,FEV2 AND FEV3] were determined in the individuals of medical college students, cement and shoe factories of Kufa of either sex ranging from 19.3 to 43.3 years of age. The mean values are found higher in males as compared to the females. The information of pulmonary functions in Iraqi population is negligible specially of south of Iraq. However constable work has been done in west Europe and India [1,2,3,4,5,]. In order to fulfil this gap the present study was under taken which is still a preliminary work to start with
