RESUMEN
Tumors originating in the parapharyngeal space are rare. Most of the tumors arising in the parapharyngeal space are benign neoplasms of neurogenic or salivary origin. The use of CT scan, MRI and selective use of angiography allows the preoperative assessment of the location, size, vascularity and relation of parapharyngeal space tumors to surrounding anatomical structures. Imaging techniques establish the site of origin and often diagnose the origin of these tumors with great accuracy. This information is essential in planning the surgical approach and redicting prognosis. We present details of the anatomy, diagnosis and surgical treatment of these tumors.
